Oakmoss has been my favourite track on the EP for quite some time, to me it feels like a folkier cousin of ‘Raincoat’. It was one of those tracks that came together quite quickly and fluently. It’s a lot of fun to play (on the various instruments used in the song), and it was a lot of fun to record.
I personally believe you are one of the best musicians alive. Your music is so tapped into something. It moves me. You deserve so much more recognition, but at the same time you don't need it. It seems like you're living your best life, just pumping out music every day. Just keep doing it.
One of the most underrated musicians alive today. Bibio spans so many genres niches, from ambient to folk to funk to tropicalia to synth pop and LA beat, adding all of this together to make art quite unlike anything else I’ve heard. About once a month I go drive around the country and blare “Flesh Rots, Pips Sown” and melt in to the landscape. Or I’ll check my garden in a rain storm listening to “St Vincent” or play my son “Ambivalence Avenue” on the way to school or show my dad the video/tune of “Raincoat” as the acoustic electric guitar used is the same one he has. I made my voicemail message an excerpt from “Bewley In Grey” years ago. I often think of Bibio and musicians like him, who get such little recognition in the wider world relative to their talent and output, and it pains me to imagine that they have no idea how important and profound their art is to me and others like me. How I can hear a specific song of theirs and be returned to a specific moment in my finite life and relive it vividly, through nothing but the time machine of their sound waves. So, from the bottom of some random Texan guys heart, *Thank you Stephen, you’re art has improved my time in this meat grinder we call existence.*
For anyone wondering, I believe the tuning for the backing acoustic guitar is EADGBD and it's played entirely on the 5th and 7th frets. It's a fun exercise if you're learning finger style like I am.
I enjoy listening to this track while I go disc golfing. I love the folk energy this song encapsulates. Imagine watching a disc flying out across a windy meadow of rolling hills and swaying trees trying to hit a target far away.....
My introduction to you is through two german backpakers while traveling through laos. While resting at our hostel, drinking beers, we turned youtube on shuffle and by chance it played your song A tout a l'heure. never look back since. thanks for your music, and please keep doing this.
Mr and Ms Compost and Flesh rots, Pips Sown are masterpieces of that style. Very different songs, but both nail the shit out of what they are going for. Especially pips, which is like... a tsunami of hair raising velvet coated the earth when the vocals come in. And it builds up for so long it’s just UHHHHHAHHHHYESSS
Mellowtron The Clothesline Ann’s the Silver Birch is a great track on that album too. hell that whole album is really good. I recently did shrooms for the first time while listening to the entire album and man was it something
I remember listening alot of bibio in my teenage years and now ten years later and during pandemic, I'm happier than ever to find his music again. There is alot of catching up to do but I'm not complaining. This music just makes you feel deeply alive again... I've missed that
Oakmoss is magical, breathtaking, immersive and the ultimate panacea for all worldly woes and existential anxiety. My favourite track from the album. Bibio, thank you for producing work like this. The melodious classical instrumentation complements the wurlitzer synths splendidly, amounting to a case where the sum is larger than its parts. No one does folksy electronic/classical music as well and fully-bodied as you do, with the exception of William Tyler and early day Fleet Foxes, minus the electronic part. I'd purchase and import this album into my country in Asia just like I have done so for Ribbons, and will continue to support inspiring music like this.
I really love everything about what you represent. The total esthetic is great . I look at your videos and I think to myself , this guy really loves life and he celebrates it in everything he creates. Your home studio , your instrument selection and the setup . The way you light the different rooms and play so many different instruments. The outside footage you’ve done for other projects like Phantom Brickworks , I can watch those videos and listen to that music for the rest of my life , and in fact I will . You inspire me man and I can’t thank you enough . I can tell you make music for yourself first and foremost, and please don’t ever stop doing that . I’m always on the edge of my damn seat every time you announce that something new is coming out and you never let me down , you always deliver . Thank you Stephen , thanks for sharing so much with us all . Please come to Los Angeles , I know it’s a crappy city to good musicians, believe me I know how fake it is here, but I’ve been here my entire life and it would be an honor to see you live , here in the city I grew up in, thanks and god bless.
I've only found out about Bibio today thanks to Spotify. I regret having lived so many years without knowledge of his music - they really are something else!
Even though you sing only two lines, it moves me so much. It fits in perfectly with what you're playing. This is definitely my favourite song on the record. Much love to you, Stephen.
This is the sonic equivalent of a peaceful time in a magnificent evergreen field enjoying a gentle breeze with contentment and a sincere appreciation for the universe
One of the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard on the first time I listened.. Bring me somewhere like home that I never visited, far far away.. And I really enjoyed this song when I’m going to the nature, in cold raining weather, walking and breath the air
Ok, I first heard Bibio from the game Watch Dogs, his song "Why So Serious" played on the radio when you drive around, that song was amazing, so I wanted to know who Bibio was when I searched, I found all his amazing music, all of which were completely different to the first song, I didn't think it was his stuff at first, but I was glad I was wrong and as I listened to more and more of Bibio's music, I was was impressed time and time again. Oakmoss is the latest in a long line of amazing sounds from this amazing producer, singer/songwriter.
I love this guy! His music takes me to a world where there is only me and his music.I am in my own element when I'm listening to it.Curls is my all time favourite song.I would sooooo love to meet Stephen and I didn't even realise he is in the Midlands just like me! If I had a wish come true it would be to go to the pub with him lol
This was also my favorite record on the EP, instantly. You've been my favorite composer from the UK since 2014. I've listened to every album. Please continue. Be an honor to meet and work w/ you one day. Fan request: You and Jacob Collier would be a mesmerizing collaboration. Bless you, Bib.
There used to be a beautiful mix on TH-cam by Bibio called British mix vol.1 or something similar. It was a pure gem and I loved it deeply, but it is no longer available. Bibio why? Much respect and love for you 🙏
Your consistency is unmatched. Everything you put out always pulls at something in my chest that I never feel with any other artist. This is beautiful and definitely my favorite track from the new record.
I would like to marry someone like Bibio (if not Bibio himself, if he comes back to Paris, I may propose). Such a deep sense of harmony ! The inspiration he finds into nature, his musical talent, his artist soul... Pure beauty, i never get tired of his sounds
The real and "good" originalversion of Adam from Jarmusch "Only lovers left alive"... He doesn't drink blood but sometimes he floats near the ceiling at night when he sleeps... 👍🎶🏳️🌈☮
Fantastic. I've watched the Ribbon Sessions a thousand times, really appreciate the format. Here's hoping for some more tracks from the EP, especially The Milk Way Over Ratlinghope. Also just really appreciate seeing (what looks like) a Mandocello in use!
I hope you will never give up being a musician. I really like your songs! You, your songs and genres will be heard and recognize by a lot of people someday! 🤍

Enjoyable to create and even more enjoyable to listen to!
I love hearing that you have a lot of fun playing
Your 🎻 work is wonderful! You blew this one out of the water.
MINE TOO
its so gat damn beautiful! heavy rotation, you are the best :)
A compelling argument for human cloning trials: a Bibio band.
Apparently not needed, dude cloned himself here 🎶💪
This is true
Now that's a stadium tour I'd pay to see
Son of a gun, I'm in
Bibiorchestra

Beautiful description
Eloïse Maldue Agreed!
big facts.
Can't but agree with your comment
Yes
The best multi-instumentalist musician of our times.
Yes with William Ryan Fritch he is really up there style wise
Agree with you
@Alex Decker Nah i'm way more mooved by Ryan Fritch or Bibio than Collier. He is impressive tho true
I would like to add Toby driver to that list as well.
oh please. bibio is great but he's not even close to the best multi-instrumentalist of our times.
The definition of "I did 100% of the work."

I love it so much I don’t want to share it with the world. But the world needs to hear this
Given the quality of this man's music it's a mystery why he isn't more widely known and respected. Amazing stuff
It’s amazing when a song can sound both simple and catchy but yet intricately beautiful at the same time.
forktronic is happiness in solitude🌆🌇

I love to see Bibio returning to this older style. It reminds me of his first ambient albums like Fi and Vignetting the Compost. Wonderful music.
Vignetting the compost is one of my favourite albums of all time
Mr and Ms Compost and Flesh rots, Pips Sown are masterpieces of that style. Very different songs, but both nail the shit out of what they are going for. Especially pips, which is like... a tsunami of hair raising velvet coated the earth when the vocals come in. And it builds up for so long it’s just UHHHHHAHHHHYESSS

One of the best.
Incredibly talented artist, with an equally brilliant piece of music.
Sometimes when you’re going through a hard time you need a song that can handle the weight of it. This is the one that can do that and more
Somebody must've made a deal at the crossroads. That's the only explanation for music this good coming from one person.
I remember listening alot of bibio in my teenage years and now ten years later and during pandemic, I'm happier than ever to find his music again. There is alot of catching up to do but I'm not complaining. This music just makes you feel deeply alive again... I've missed that
Surely it,s illegal for one man to be so talented.

Dude thank you for writing what I feel but cannot put in words.
And thank you Bibio for creating such an amazing song that connects us.
I've only found out about Bibio today thanks to Spotify. I regret having lived so many years without knowledge of his music - they really are something else!
You are the soundtrack to my ever-more nature-filled life. Thank, bibio. Thibio.
Only just discovered you through a movie ...... better late than never !!!
Wow.. since Fi i've stuck by you and not once have you dissapointed. Imo, you are one of the greatest artists and musicians. Period.
Bibio is natural touching.
I love natural touching.
BIBIO, an artist to be remembered thru the ages
I sat by the ocean on a lonesome beach the other night listening to this repeatedly almost pitch black and oh man...
Even though you sing only two lines, it moves me so much. It fits in perfectly with what you're playing. This is definitely my favourite song on the record. Much love to you, Stephen.
The definition of a complete artist.

I was bewitched by this when it played randomly during an Amazon Music binge. Such beautiful sounds.
So underrated!
One of the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard on the first time I listened..

Easily my favorite song from this project. Lovely meandering feelng between the 2 main chords
Tears a-flowing. You definitely were a bard in a past life. All the very best on your journey X
The EP is on constant rotation. I can hear some Avocet era Jansch in there.. sublime.
Imagine being this talent but still not being famous
There's a charm in not being famous too.
Welcome to the 21st century
Dude's signed to Warp and released numerous critically acclaimed albums, I'm pretty sure that counts as having "made it".

Much respect and love for you 🙏
every song Bibio makes is just soooo beautiful.
0:47 wasn’t expecting that. Love the song and the video! Thank you for my day!
Pretty breathtaking. PLEASE consider doing a series of these live performances of songs off your records!
Your consistency is unmatched. Everything you put out always pulls at something in my chest that I never feel with any other artist. This is beautiful and definitely my favorite track from the new record.
I love it! A very Renaissance-inspired sound.
