Home ed mum here, for a more accurate history lesson there was no famine in Ireland it was a genocide....all crops livestock etc was taken and exported this is well documented, fab video new sub here❤
There was a famine in ireland. It was caused by a blight on the potato crop. Was the main food for everyone at the time. Other things would have had a effect. But the loss of the main food for 70% to 90% of people was the main reason for the loss of life at the time. As an irish person this is what we learn in school as our history.
Nahhh there was no genocide.. it was a crop failure of a staple food supply.. for it to be a genocide it would have to be acknowledged by a goverment who corrupted and concluded irish citizens had no place in their sovereignty. .imagine the stain of yet another historic atrocity on the royal family..lets call it a famine hush hush wink wink @catL156
Lovely Video, lovely to see the children playing and running free. Glad you enjoyed Achill Island, but please stop saying Akeel. Made my teeth grate. 😂 it’s Achill ( AkHill) 😊 I missed the Sligo bit and Connemara National Park. Just so lovely, rugged and full of character. ❤️
Just revisited your channel after being engrossed in the build series, having wanted to do the same for many years. I spent 25 years living in Mayo, including some time driving the public bus route from Achill to Westport. Was great to see you all enjoying some fantastic summer weather in the west of Ireland, its such a rarity and the reason i now live in Spain 😁 Really enjoyed the video and great to see the kids being kids, keep it up guys 👍
Looks a very nice place, glad you had fun, sounds like kids had more fun, good to get a break from the kids but it's also good for the kids to get away from parents 😂 awesome vlog 🌹❣️🔥
I'm glad you've allowed yourselves and the kids to enjoy Ireland and all it has to offer. My parents took myself and my brother camping all over Ireland, those sights, i've exprierienced . And what an experience as a kid. We camped in every county in Ireland, apparently it was a goal for them. But as a kid, everywhere was somewhere to play and enjoy. Lol. Co. Kerry is so beautiful, especially, around the ring. I'm planning in doing what you're doing and do the whole circumference of Ireland. In the process of buying a van. However, minus kids, other than my Border collie, though I think that may be the same thing. Lol. Live the the life guys.
@@Touringwiththekids Mate, i'm Irish. I live in Belfast. I'm planning to do the coast of Ireland. Then the Scottish, English and Welsh coastline, not necessarily in that order, except the Ireland bit. Lol. Already sourcing things for fitting out. TH-camrs van conversion vids must be redhot for what the amount of times i've been watching them. LOL Mucker, take care and all the best to you and your family. Have fun.
You're so entertaining! Ric with the nudge nudge wink wink and Keira Nooo stop it now! 😂 Such a typical male first thought! 😂 Aquarium looked a bit naff! We just had langoustines in Dorset, very delicious once you get into them! Did they have a veggie alternative for Piper or did she have to have just chips again?
😂😂 They are delicious aren't they! No veggie alternatives, apart from chips which get a bit boring, so we nipped over the road to get a pizza for her ☺️
Another stunning video ... being a Graphic Designer, I am a very 'visual' learner, so visual and tactile learning is often the way to go and makes a great change from the books! 📖
Get a run out on Clew Bat charter boats or indeed climb the Reek. On leaving Achill that is... Only 12k to Westport. Also plenty for kids to fo at Westport House
Glad you are enjoying your Irish trip you confused me when I saw you pop up on the homesteaders video I wasn’t expecting you to stop by their place 😉enjoy the rest of your stay
We parked at the exact same spot, next to the beach. I think Piper would love Race Across the World because I love it, and we have the board game too! We didn’t go to the aquarium when we were there but it sounds good. We are leaving on our big van trip in a few days so we won’t be able to watch your videos but we look forward to catching up in September. We are going to the Olympics and most exciting Disneyland, and then Switzerland. Love from Beth x
Another fab video. Have you guys ever thought of Geocaching with the kids. Geocaches are hidden everywhere in the world and often hidden in great places you might not go otherwise.
@@Touringwiththekids it’s great fun and easy to just pick up as and when. The Geocache app is good to navigate to your nearest one. Maybe you could set a TWTK group??
Just found your channel looks like awesome travels. I’ll soon be converting 7.5t daf myself. Subscribed, got a lot to watch now. Could you tell me what’s weight of your truck? Have you had any issues in staying within its payload limit?
I had to hold my breath while yous explored the ruins. Look around..most of the walls have already fallen and the rest could go at any time..I mean one inch move of a stone is all it could take.
Oooh! Shush! The health and safety man has utterly ruined our country. Don’t give him anything else to meddle with. All our heritage, be it structure, mechanical, or literature/art, has all been fenced off at such a distance that it’s no longer possible to properly view it. With a couple of notable exceptions, even classic car or tractor shows have to keep the public behind a fence, in case somebody might break a nail. Leave our heritage sites alone, so we can visit them in peace.

Hi Keira. Sadly, you’ve discovered the problem with tourism dependent industries, here in Ireland. We’re a small country with an inherently high cost of living, mostly due to our location, out on the fringe of Europe. Add to that the relatively small tourist numbers and you end up with high costs, to provide a service, being distributed among a small number of people who actually use the service. Despite the price of admission, the Aquarium is not a money spinner and really only exists, at all, to give the tourists something to do while they’re in the microcosm of island life. How many times can you walk kids around a small island and through the same ruins, before you have a mutiny? Unless you want to learn the Irish language and attend Irish themed ceilighs (Kay-lees), to watch and participate in Irish music and dance, you really have it all seen and done in a couple of days. BTW, I’m sure I’m spelling ceiligh incorrectly, but auto correct has changed it to so many other words and I’ve had to manually change it back so many times, I’ve confused myself now and I can’t spell in Irish.
@@alexanderbrown8455 absolutely, I have a caravan up that direction and it's just a magical heaven in Donegal, anytime I'm there I sleep like a baby as do my children all that sea air and stunning beauty 😍
The plan was to go to Glenveagh but our route changed (because of the weather). We don't mind missing out on places because it means there is always a reason to come back!
