Just another example of fandoms being degenerate cesspools, but this time it was a cult surrounding a person instead of a franchise, and he's suffering due to that. I never watched Dream, I don't really care about his content, and I don't know how much he's responsible for the way these kids revere him. But regardless of that, I hope it was the right decision for him personally.

It seems like Sunny doesn't understand that people's decisions aren't based entirely on projections of how many views and subs they'll generate. It's a common theme in every "downfall" video I've seen from him in the past year or so

You gotta admire SunnyV2's business model: Say whatever, feed parassociality, cherry pick a few examples that substantiate his point, which more often than not is "this content creator fell off, lower number worse person" and then get millions of views. Rinse and repeat. It’s a great scam, if you disregard the fact that it only serves to feed the most negative parts of the platform.
In fairness, a lot of people make the same content using the same formula, but Sunny one of the few to get those million views. And it's simply playing the TH-cam algorithm, which is off we the viewers watch, so indirectly it's all of our fault.
Not a scam, just someone who profits off other peoples struggles, kicking people while they're down, and painting them in a negative light.

In terms of social stance, being somewhat side-long or slanted is considered a closed stance - which means the person is feeling defensive, insecure, etc.
Staring straight ahead is a stance that projects more openness and confidence
So basically, he probably didnt even realize he was doing it in terms of like, a conscious effort, I think he just felt really defensive about the face reveal, and the unnatural-ness about it is that creepy smile and forced 'happy' facial expressions

It's not really that but the fact that he hyped it up so much that he's some sort of a beauty icon or something special when in reality he's just an average joe, so ofc people would have a reason to be mean towards him. It's just kids who spent way too much time on social media and a lot of projecting. It's pretty depressing to see responses like that when the people talking probably hate their appearance every time they wake up and look in the mirror. Somebody who's satisfied with themselves has no need to project their own insecurities onto others.
From a career standpoint, it was a mistake. As a life standpoint, it's not. You could argue the massive amount of popularity was worse for his mental health than people calling him ugly and then becoming less popular is. What i don't understand though was him hyping the face reveal to other creators to make it seem his appearance was indeed really good when he's more on the average side. It just backfired imho. Sunny did make a good point though about now you can attack him as a person much more easily as he doesn't hide behind a "mask", hence more leeway for drama to come. Drama also comes with doing collabs with others, just more risk.
But hey, he can chill without people invading his personal space as much, hang out with his friends and enjoy himself.

From a business standpoint it can be argued that Dream's face reveal was an L, but from a personal standpoint it's probably a huge W for him. People have this notion that only money matters in life, but the thing is Dream already HAS a shitload of money. Now he wants everything else, he doesn't care about the money he *could* make. 1000% understandable.

@@ninjack11 I mean it's not that he stopped, it's been only 3 months, when Dream was uploading "regularly" he was taking between 2-3 months per video release. Everyone is overreacting right now, he's probably taking a small break after all the bullshit that happened after his face reveal, he's a young dude still so it's probably been a very overwhelming experience for him.

The reason I like watching Asmons reactions is because I get the thought process of someone older that also uses the internet all the time. I don't mean older in a offensive manner more in the way that his way of thinking is different to anybody my age still in their late teens, he just doesn't get why dreams snaps are fucking god awful and make many of us want to blow our brains onto some concrete. BUT THAT IS THE RUB, that is the thing that gets me to keep coming back here cus i swear this man has a somewhat different opinion to mine every time, they are never exactly the same, and ofc some I just flat out disagree with and that is why I watch
As somebody that's older myself, I don't understand what's wrong with anything dream posted either, it just looks like some guy trying to be goofy, I dont really use any social medias myself though so I'm out of the loop. I think as you get older you just stop caring about certain things that people do, you don't have the energy to care. Everybody is cringe when they are young anyway its just a fact of life.

This is usually the case with most face reveals. All the intrigue disappears.
I definitely don’t blame Dream in the slightest for wanting to reveal his face. Only downside is it’s an extremely calculated risk to take especially with a fandom like his from a platform and professional standpoint. If you don’t fit the persona or appearance people come up with for you then theres the potential of losing some if not all of your following because of the loss of investment they had into you and your character. It also didn’t help that there were an insane amount of promotion from other TH-camrs and content creators trying to push Dream’s face reveal and turned him and the whole situation into a meme. That being said if Dream is ultimately happy and this decision has helped him in whichever way he was aiming for then all power to him and hope the best for him.
Love how these people are only deciding if it's good based on views and money but not personal health or satisfaction/preference.

People like a character they can connect to if they always wore a mask. It’s the same reason Zero was so inspirational in Code Geass since the main character was mysterious. Same with master chief having no real face so that people loved they could bond with the character possibly being any race or person.

Dream shouldn't taken a lesson from Buckethead. Guy has never shown his face publicly, has never played a show not as Buckethead, even his closest friends refer to him at Buckethead, he records in the studio as Buckethead, and the only pictures there are of Buckethead without his Bucket are the ones he himself has released, and he's the greatest guitarist of all time.

The brand is tied to the face now for all of us that only found out about Dream because of how hyped up his face reveal got. I think that's the point he was trying to make about the branding being different now.

Now we know that the reason the creator house wasn't productive is because their wifi was down for two months. They had a lot of problems at moving in. But we also know that Dream's antarctica vlog project was in the box ! But now this vlog came out (i recommend watching it, it's better than mrbeast's video imo, their wifi is back on again and George uploaded as well just a few days ago, on top of streaming on Twitch (: i didn't check Sapnap's channel but they're definitely putting it all on track !

for context he was super famous in italy, meaning that if you were italian you knew about him 99%, he had a lot of followers and influence and was super funny, then deciding to move to only playing a game called dead by daylight carved his downfall, at first it didn't seem so much so as the community loved the game and him, but then the game started getting worse and worse with each update and he got more toxic every stream with his viewers and friends, started cutting friends out of his life and banning like every single person in his community, then he decided with the small italian community he had left to officially change the language to english and would ban anybody that would type in italian for no reason, even friendly comments.
Now he has a small english community that's getting smaller and smaller, it's very sad that such a great image got ruined, he was never a really kind person tho.
Dream wasn’t boring in Antartica, he was practically dying but still tried to be part of the video. He’s a lot more alive in his behind the scenes on his blog and his extra video, the guy was just ill as shit
This video is an absolute L by sunny. It’s too soon to claim the face reveal ruined anything. If it turns out the face reveal is his last video ever then sure, but the second he uploads a new vid that inevitably gets millions of views this vid is cemented as an L.
the only thing i dont like about face reveals is that after them usually the creator just stays face revealed the whole time. When the mask/avatar was maybe the most recognizable thing that made the channel stand out. The mask WAS the face of the show. Same if some voice editing that made it really distinct and immediately recognizable got removed.
I'm not even a fan of dream but I feel kinda bad for him. I think no matter how he looked it couldn't match everyone's expectation. It's like reading a book you love and imagining the story. When you see the movie 9 times out of 10 the movie isn't as good. Because people personalized the story in their own way. Everyone's into different things. Even if he looked like the most subjectively good looking guy ever, some people still wouldn't be happy because he's not their version of good looking. He's not even unattractive but it's messed up that what he looks like is such a huge deal anyway...

He’s a handsome fella & has done some brilliant work on himself 4:11 He’s definitely a good looking guy. You could be Arnie Schwarzenegger but the hype was too much, met with the fact that his audience is literal children.

When i started watching Critikal in like 2012, he never would show his face. I dont remember when but then he did and look where he is now. Lots of people forget critikal used to never show his face either back in the day, he just did game talkovers that were funny
Ppl forget he face revealed right before twitchcon. He was gonna go with his friends. His face was gonna leak either way. It was just a matter of who is gonna capitalize on it, some rando or himself. And one of his friends also said he wanted to get laid too which i assume was just a cherry on top. Cuase the main thing was that he was gonna get exposed with out his consent eitherway.
Having an avatar to represent yourself is nothing new online. I have seen plenty of creator's faces but don't think of them as that. The avatar is what we chose to brand ourselves as. A representation of what we want to put as ourselves on the internet. While you naturally like your own face it is genetically random if its considered handsome, and a choice if you consider that a part of your core being.
If you overly love dream, you’re a weirdo. If you overly hate dream, you’re as equally weird.
Only problem I could see is that he hyped it up. With the count down and everything. Face reveals done right I could think of was Jaiden Animations and Odd1sOut. No hyping before the reveal they just did it and everyone accepted it.
With the count down the stans were over sexualizing him saying that haters gonna stfu about the fat dream leak pics after the reveal which actually gave them a bigger itch to bully stans once he didnt live up to the fantasy. Huge weight off dream's back tho so hope he got something from it and gets to be more free. Also that weird angle he does for the vid, made my neck hurt watching for some reason.
Moonmoon had a pretty successful face reveal but for most it does seem to kill a huge part of their brand - but I guess that’s on the creator for making their anonymity so prominent in the first place. There are loads of creators that we have no idea what they look like and don’t even think about it since it’s not mentioned.

I understand where he was coming from. All his friends had face reveals/it wasn't a thing for them.... he was blowing up and didn't always want to be wearing a mask or something in a MrBeast video. His fame vs. hiding his face didn't make any logistical sense if he wanted to get bigger...... on paper. On paper it made sense.
But he branded himself kind of like CORPSE. Then took it really far. They both should have stayed hidden IMO. The greatest stories are rooted in mystery and lore. Are you afraid of the scary demon you can see, or the one you can't, that's right behind you? Obvz the one you can't see.

i dont think people feel comfortable enough to acknowledge that a large part of this issue is underaged kids being allowed to openly express sexual desires online without parental guidance or protection from groomers/predators. a large portion of his fanbase shipped him with other men even though he is not a homosexual and there is a massive problem in the online art communities of underaged kids (mostly girls) claiming their idols are LGBT or autistic (to make them seem more unique) and then drawing these people in really disgusting and sometimes fully X rated drawings. the fan fics are bad too. so when this person actually reveals themselves to be anything less than their eboy anime fetish, they lose their minds.
There is also a concerningly large group of young girls (social contagion is real and it affects young girls the most) that claim they have undiagnosed dissociative identify disorder and that Dream was one of the "alters" in their "system". When he revealed himself, these girls just immediately said "oh hes not apart of my system anymore hes too ugly and creepy" as if that's how that extremely rare and extremely serious disorder works...
I could go on and on about these types of communities and their fans, but most people in these comments barely even understand how deep and creepy it really gets.

another thing that killed minecraft for me was after technoblade passed away i stopped watching minecraft content all together cause i loved hearing his dry humor, he was naturally entertaining even when he was serious

This is my first time hearing of Dream's existence...
The thing that bugs me the most about this video is not even 2 minutes in, they put up a pic of not even someone who is Dream, that's a person named Manatreed who joined the DSMP but was kicked due to allegations of abusing his ex girlfriend.
I watch a chunk of faceless creators, in fact there's alot more than people might think. I never understood this hype around face reveals. Just let them make content and not sexualize them? These stans are absolutely rabid and I never considered them fans, the haters are only gonna make it worse cause that's what they always do except now they can use your actual face and body.
I've never watched Dream but I could see his rabid fanbase from miles away. I honestly felt bad for him when all this dumb face reveal crap happened. This is the same thing that happens everytime someone reveals their face, it's not that shocking or new so the vid gets some points right but it's not anything new overall and some are just wrong. The only difference between Dreams and most others is that Dream was massively watched by fans, stans, haters and even people like me who never watched his content had to hear about him ALL THE TIME. Other people have hyped up their face reveals just the same so I will never agree with that point. Some do and some don't. While I agree I don't think you should hype it up since so much drama comes out for each one, that doesn't mean it hasn't worked before. Some of them get more traction immediately afterwards. I don't think he should be exempt from that when others can do it too and have done it.
Also the avatars are kinda like branding logos. They draw people in and they're art centered so artists are gonna flock to these channels more than most to draw fanart of their character. It changes the dynamic once you open up your real face in there. I've never had an issue with these but this is just common in the online space where people get far too attached to people they've never met online.
Personally I like faceless content creators just as much as faceforward creators. The amount of hate you get online can have the potential to spread to your family and friends. I'd hate for people to see their face, find their information way easier then, and begin harassing them AND their family. All because you like their content too much or your hate them too much, they're both absolutely insane sides. So faceless content creators are just doing their best to not involve their families just as much as themselves. I can imagine the same thing happening to H20 Delerious as it did to Dream.

Having a secret identity must be so weird for personal relationships. Figuring out who to tell is so weird. Are you just open to everyone Irl or do you not tell your girlfriend before dating several months. I think the best solution is to do a face reveal early but continue to appear with a mask in content/ interviews if you want to avoid getting recognised by randoms.

I would say it was an awful decision for "now", but on long terms it's propably beneficial the one or another way. He might need to learn how to present himself in front of a camera, but there are enough people who already did that, so i don't see, why Dream shouldn't be able to do it as well.
