My sister picks grocery's for Walmart. They are actually investing more employees into picking items for online orders than people into cashiering. They don't want you in the store anymore, they want you to buy it online and wait in the parking lot, it's almost like they would rather be warehouses. Very frightening to think that one day we might not be able to access food without technology.

Walmart is also really annoyed with shoplifting, and the whole people of Walmart experience is disgusting, mostly because Walmart doesn't crack down on crazies. So the answer is order online, because it's literally the best for everyone. You avoid the mouth breathers spreading COVID, plumbers crack, homeless wanderers, camels toe whales, people asking you to grab items for them or whatever, the guy who doesn't bathe, etc. I agree we are losing the store experience, but if society isn't willing to crack down on the filth ruining it like California, well normal people will have to find work arounds. I think one idea that could save Walmart is forcing all old people and disabled to use online shopping, give them free Walmart+ accounts. If they're not in the store ruining the experience for everyone else, it would make more sense to actually shop in store.

    • @StewIsRat
      @StewIsRat ปีที่แล้ว

@@JohnDoe-ip3oq I can agree with you to an extent, I personally have only had one bad experience at a Walmart. Considering I've shopped there semi regularly for as long as I can remember, it's not all that big of a deal to me. My city has really gone downhill these past few years and I still haven't had any issues, so I'm sorry the ones in your area are shitty.
I reference specifically Walmart, but the only 2 grocery stores in my area that don't do pick up are Aldi and WinCo, which a lot of cities don't have anyway. I feel like these companies are just using issues like shoplifting, the customer experience, constantly rising prices, and card-only registers to exert control over food. Id rather be around the person with their ass out than be forced to use apps and accounts which my information can be stolen from in order to purchase food.

you understand that because of the nature of it being a public company, the board of directors has a legal responsibility to maximize returns for all shareholders, correct?
it is literally their job and they have legal repercussions if they do bad.
also saying tech doesn't benefit humanity is so stupid. what device did you type this on? what platform are you commenting on? both of those are made, manufactured, and programmed by public companies for a profit.

The tech boom in 2008 saved the economy, less people can afford the services they provide but the biggest irony is that the more businesses cut costs the bigger the problem will be kinda like a hydra paradox since employment levels directly affect consumer trends. The west can't handle this as they have relied on industrialisation and mass marketing for so long that not as many people are as self sustainable as in Eastern Europe and Asia.

Literally companies will hire people who specialize in how the brain works to get more from their customers with these tactics. I also think it's active disregard for some staff as well because due to the pandemic, people will do anything to keep their jobs and those companies really cut down on their staff earnings.

Growth companies have traditionally had tough times when interest rates are raised. Since valuations of growth companies are made based on their anticipated growth (which was often achieved using debt), when interest rates go up, it's expected that companies will face headwinds in the short term. That's why valuations have come down. I wouldn't read too much into it. Twitter and Tesla notwithstanding, tech companies are still making plenty of profit. They are just trimming down the less profitable parts and going lean in anticipation of lower expected growth in the coming years.

Profits do not happen in a vacuum. They are just as subject to incentivized careless spending as everything else.

My parents, now the grandparents, don't even understand what I'm worried about. They tell me I'm freaking out over nothing, that it'll be okay.
Regarding what to do: If you simply take all social media away, your kid will be an anti-social loner, but if you allow everything, they'll be easily manipulated into all sorts of trouble. The trick is finding the middle ground, how far do you allow your kid to go, etc. And I'm saying this while still not knowing what the answer is.
Personally, I think kids under 10 shouldn't be allow on social media at all... Once they get to 11, then things get complicate... There's a book called "The Competitive Advantage of Nations" by Michael Porter which was written in the 1980s. It does a very good job of explaining the interdependencies between companies, governments, markets and random events.
There are also many great books on decision theory and consumer behaviour in general, which explains a lot about why businesses have changed their business model and how society as a whole changes through behavioural trends (basically informing random events). You could also look to resource theory for that, but all of this is in general a very important and very complex topic that will affect and has affected generations.

Although in relation to people with economic problems, with an overwhelming majority of control being inherited instead of earned. A thoughtful and intelligent restructuring and redistribution of labor ( all the people being laid off across the nation.) seems highly unlikely.
And I would expect local officials and authorities to offer a more Canadian or Chinese solution of labor redistribution. Where we cut back on people by merging them with the ground. Either through hunger or government oversight.

Compare things with pre-pandemic levels if you want more relevant data.
Finally, evaluating a company solely on market cap is stupid... No company is actually worth their market cap.
Market cap = current stock price x no of shares

The Chinese government is litteraly the one that started regulating their own companies the most over the past few years so Idk w the guy is talking about in the video
they were litteraly dismantling the tencent monopoly on the music market in China,
when there was supposed to be a merger of the two biggest streaming platforms in China the government stopped it, to prevent a twitch like monopoly
It's also interesting how China is definitely the most competitive smartphone market where they have many options for good phones unlike in the US, it's also the most competitive market in the EV space,
Tbh the Chinese government is still not doing enough to regulate the companies,
the competition is just insane over there and many times it's also really underhanded to say the least,
(especially when Tencent is trying to unsuccessfuly shoot down mihoyo),
And how would TikTok being propped up by the government help, people are using TikTok more not because China told them to but because they like it, TikTok is growing because they have a product that people currently want, there is no way the Chinese government is somehow magicaly propping up demand for TikTok, like how the fuck would they do that?

As someone that works for one of these well known fortune 500 companies its not really a sector thats collapsing. Sure there have been large layoffs due to bloat and over hiring during pandemic ... in other tech companies they were just going after frivolous ideas and started cutting out all those teams. Thankfully for me and my role in tech its very unlikely myself or my team would get cut unless the entire company went under. My company already went through a massive layoff and my team was unscathed as we are so small and touch so many areas needed by other teams. Even then without trying I get so many random recruiters on linkedin trying to hire me from other tech companies I'm honestly not worried about job security if I eventually get laid off one day anyways.
Obviously its not all 'secure', some tech companies will implode while others will thrive once interest rates go back down and we get out of this recession phase. But I've always been an absolute hermit and frugal person so I still live dirt cheap despite the 'standard of living' most in the tech sector at my pay grade live. I mean I watch Asmonggold videos for crying out loud lol. I only care about video games outside of work for the most part lol, I ain't got any expensive hobbies really once the pc is built or consoles are bought, I barely even buy new games becasue I don't trust the AAA game industry anymore lol

    • @Continuum7
      @Continuum7 ปีที่แล้ว

@@SuperNovice007 Yep. Also I am well aware regardless of how secure a job position is there is of course always a chance you can get let go.
But I'd say anyone in the tech industry long enough your are being smart with your money and (hopefully) saving a lot of it. Thats at least what I am doing so when an eventual downfall comes I'll fine for a good while. My largest goal is to eventually retire early if I keep living ultra low cost and then whatever happens to the tech industry it won't matter for me anymore becasue I won't be reliant on a full time job anymore.
So even if all the fearmongering turns out to be even partially true I've been planning for the worst while hoping for the best for years already lol

The biggest problem is government overspending which causes more printing of money since thats how they get the money. Every time the government passes a spending bill thats over the total tax amount they get every year it causes more inflation since they print more money to pay for these spending bills since the populus isnt taxed enough to pay for these bills not that im saying taxes should go up because no they shouldnt. Both sides have ignored the debt crisis for 40 years now and the pandemic spending was so much that its caused inflation way more then the usual 3% from overspending.

Food prices here in germany in stores has risen between 50-120%. Its kinda crazy. Like a pack of noodles 500g own brand from discounter was 39 cents before covid, now its 99cent and probably keeps rising

A lot of it is due to the war in Ukraine. Things can change quickly.

    "Why Big Tech Is Collapsing"
This is a 2 second topic: It isn't.

    It starts with slowing down.
Companies try to make the best for everyone around us
Making things easier and faster so people are instantly happy
We forget to see the people around us instead we choose ourselves happiness.
The companies CEO, Presidents with the gratification of high salary and no work and problems of building it up and working for their self won't understand cause of it boiling down to the main problem existing... Slow down and don't care.
Connectivity is one thing and self care is another.
    Meet it in the middle.
    Creatures of curiosity

Grocery prices are disgusting. I buy 3 things from Publix and it's $30. I started buying from Aldi now since it's so much cheaper. Inflation happens but companies are definitely taking advantage of it.

The problem is that a lot of people keep buying overexpensive shit.

A lot of the inflation is because of companies artificially inflating prices for record profits

I don’t know if secretly I identify as an Asmongold or the TH-cam algorithm is feeding me the same content Asmongold sees. Either way I like this.

its actually fairly simple... investors started pulling their money out after realizing the company isn't going anywhere after years of holding out... like Elon is just a "Hype Man" to attract investors for new startups..

Inflation makes sense, because US accumulated huge debt, higher the inflation (1$ looses value) cheaper the debt. That was the case for this strategy for US in the past(other countries too) for debt management

If we are strictly talking stocks, Tech has/had some of the largest multiples in the market especially for companies who don’t have rev or profitability they need the market to raise capital. any weakness and down they go. Combine that with shorting and it’s an investors wet dream. Turn the charts upside down and you’ll see the crazy dollars smart money has been making lately and guess what they will make it again on the way up. Rinse and repeat.
