who remembers watching Dan fight to barely walk through that basement, shovel countless busted tire wheelbarrows loads up dodgy ramps to remove debris alone. to see a moment like this is killer. congrats on the million tiny things that made this moment possible.
wow, nearly half a million subscribers! Thumbs up, folks, if you like it, this helps for better visibility , better algorithms !
And makes him slot more money.
Wow that bloomin rain go away for a couple of weeks rain..see you tomorrow 😊
I think he deserves (more) money, he is a great filmmaker, he entertains people, he spreads optimism, he isn't impressed by obstacles, he saves an important historical object, a building with a soul, which once saved dozens of children. That's how he makes his living, as anybody else, maybe with more sense than many others. Just my few cents.@@seancasey2444
@@seancasey2444 enabling the work on the chateau to carry on. ☺️
Escape To Rural France is my favourite TH-cam channel. Dan is great with Nick. I watch all the adverts to support Dan & his wonderful channel.
Always ❤!!! (Unless I'm too tired when posted but then I'll watch again the next day 😊!!!
Me too. Slightly obsessed. :-)
Yes, me too. cgzone8
Dan is a pretty cool guy. He knows how to demo and reno. And Rebuild a burned out castle 4 floors.... And his GARDENING IS WOW🎉
Same. Been here since about 99k subscribers and I am here for it. All of it.
Poor Dan! Working in the rain while fighting a miserable cold. Hardest working guy I’ve ever seen.
My daily fix of Dan & the guys, yippee
Pups?
Same here!
I absolutely love hearing the birds singing! 😊
Yessss, bewutifully tranquil moments😊
The entry through the gates of the chateau look beautiful! Flowers. Foliage. Beautiful.🌺
i wish i had the energy of your 🐶dog !❤
the gardens will be very beautiful, thankfully with all of that rain.
Consistent, well shot, well edited videos. Unique, challenging, rapid pace work. Dan's gaining followers for lots of reasons.
Don’t forget the new puppies. People love to watch the babies grow.
Nick is instrumental in this build. Best en suite for him. For life.
Probably already has a fancy en suite of his own.
@@juliadplume3097 think it would be a place of his own taste ..whatever that may be. Think it would be cool anyway .
Treehouse?
Nick. Loves the 🌲🌳🌾woods.... how do we know if he lives in Stephanie's Forrest land.?????
Dan, your efforts to give us these high quality vlogs are very much recognized and appreciated. Thank you. Amazing work!
Thank you, Brian, for cleaning out the cement mixer. We all know Dan is not one to do it..
Dan didn’t have water readily available when he first started! He used stones as the next best thing
@@chriswilford3576 Dan did have water in his old house, but did he clean the old cement mixer then; no!
Dan's cleaning method has always been a mallet the next time he uses it. NEVER seen him rinse it out the same day.
4:15: I wonder how many people understand or even heard the funny comment “you never won a teddy” as he failed to grasp the steel. Made me laugh 😅
I remember the 2p penny drop machines on the piers. I've never seen anything like this outside of the UK. I've seen claw machines at fairgrounds. I never won a teddy bear, a watch or any jewels
Ha, thanks for clarifying. I had no clue what he meant!
I’ve seen the claw machines in Tenerife, my grandkids played on them.
We have those claw grabbing machines in Australia. My youngest son used to love them. 😊😊😊😊
I've actually "won" a soft toy from one of those machines.
Whomever gets the plastering gig is going to be able to retire!
I bet Dan does it.
Hernia Dr too🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
Whoever. 😊
@@becnal "White man has many words for same thing".
I'll do it😊
All’s well with my world - the boys have built a wall, eaten a manly lunch and the sun is shining over Chateau Chaumont😊
That has to be the most polite rebuttal to all the slamming comments on foundations from the last vid 🤣🤣 love it!!
You can't get a better foundation than bedrock. They were smart by pouring the footer wider than the blocks. It makes for a better base. Ideally, the footers should be at least have again as wide on both sides as the wall you are building. I'd guess those were 8-inch blocks so half that would be 4-inches on each side. this also allows for a place for joists to rest if you are building a floor or a wall as well.
Whatever you do, even if you're mastering things, there's always a guy who says "you do it wrong"
@@AnthonyMalesys Well this guy, has 40 years of experience in doing things just like this. And in some cases not with all the tools you need. A chainsaw is one of the greatest tools ever made for doing cutting work. Who doesn't like to have a reasonably dried-in workspace. I never said he did anything wrong, rather I am throwing ideas of what I have done to solve certain problems or make the job easier.
@@goodwillcriminals117 a single brick (or block) wall makes me nervous, would be better to have double brick for stability
@@raresaturn If it were an American concrete block with large voids within you might be right but in this case, the blocks they used (French style?) have very thin voids. The joints they used were pretty thick. I guess Dan is not educated on spreading mortar but he has an ok workaround. Using the hawk as an edge barrier worked ok, but it wasted a lot of mortar bed material. His challenge was getting a place to attach the level string. Typically it is a small block of wood that is hooked to the corner of a block wall but due to the fact they were between vertical walls it was more difficult.
Another productive day on this incredible transformation👏👏👏👏
Nice block wall Dan!
Viewers may be interested in the length & weight of the new steel support C-beams. ❤️🙏
That question's above their pay grade. 😂
Yeah!!! Lots of ‘thumbs up’ go channel watchers!!!! We have 500K in sight!! 🎉 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
A man door in that wall would have made the basement more user friendly in the future.
Don't worry Nick, I've never won a teddy either!!😂😂😂😂😂
Whenever you get help with the chateau magic happens. Things go up fast and you look less tired. Thank you Nick and Brian for giving our boy a hand. He is definitely worth it as you can tell from his number of subscribers and you guys help there too.
Unmistakable beauty of both looks and with togetherness with absolute delight.
The chateau continues to come out of hiding under multiple layers of debris, she will shine again one day and hopefully forever be stronger than ever before! The people that had given up on her will be amazed and sorry for every doubt. Thank you so much for bringing her alive again.
So proud of your success. You deserve it.
i bet it is much nicer see a garden getting watered in the rain than a brambley mess. lovely view as you drive through the front gate.
And your off..a beautiful 1/3 of a wall..you make it look effortless, but it must be very hard work..perfectly lined up and exactly as you would want..amazing team ❤
From living and working on a US Navy Aircraft Carrier when it comes to painting steel beams: "Once over dust. Twice over rust!" 👍😊👍
Man, you're certainly delivering on your promise to crank out daily videos again. It's a beautiful thing! Keep 'em coming, it's such great fun to watch everything come together bit by bit,
Fingers crossed for the weather!
The weather is the weather you have to work around it, there is plenty to do in the wing with a temporary roof, progress may be delayed on one but it can be progressed on the other, there are options now, previously there was not!?!
The weather here in Philadelphia has been pretty much like yours! Sunshine would be great, right about NOW!
Good to see the wall going up. The front shot of the entrance to the
Chateau is really nice.
Jeff❤
Rain, hail or sunshine, nothing stops for the building process.
Hi from South Africa. What a lovely surprise to get the vlog early.
Awesome so see a fellow person from SA on here supporting Dan and the gang
It was a rainy day!?!
Hi,South Africa, from Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸, peace ✌ out my friend
Hello fellow South Africans
Hi from NZ
The manliest of lunches indeed! 💪🏻
Dan, If there is an award for videography, you get my vote !
Enjoying all the progress and your thought process. Merci!
Dan, I just read up on your château and I had no idea it has so much history within its walls in such a short amount of time! I’m so glad you are saving this house. you are literally saving history. Especially the part about how that house sheltered so many Jewish people during World War II in occupied France.
loving the songbirds...sounds like a paradise.
guys, 17,000 views and only 3.1K thumbs-up- everyone up-vote!!!
Wow Dan and Crew it's so great to see the old lady standing taller and prouder, her beauty is coming back. Good work Good Men and Women! ❤
I grew up watching my father build many things and fixing things..its satisfying seeing you guys working on it😊😊😊❤
Dan,Nick,Brian the miracle crew. Got to hand it to you guys. Keep on trucking. Until tomorrow. Please, take care and stay safe. Love ya. Will pray for rain. 🍺🍺🍺🕊🌞🌹❤️😇🙏🌈👍🇺🇸
Have a blast this weekend with your boys!
Don't forget the ties into the side walls
The chateau with its flowering shrubs, which can be seen at the gate, shows that there is life at the end of the driveway. It was a good decision putting the garden in now.
Love the way you built the wall next to the trailing plant!
I’m wondering if it will be inside or outside!
Great work team Dan. Hope it stops raining for you soon. Have a hot toddy Dan ❤
What miserable weather - it must be so frustrating! The wall looks amazing!!!!
Hi Dan. First time you asked your viewers to pray for a need-no more rain for a while. Happy to oblige, beginning with/ thanksgiving. O, God, thank you for recent rains around the chateau grounds. It’s brought blessed water to each tree, each flowering bush and to its usage in our daily work. But enough for a while. Thank you, dear God.
The Birds sound lovely and happy😊
Glad he explained the wall reinforcing ties. 😊👍
I could do with an asmr raining montage in the chateau
Just an hour of rain inside, outside, up top... would let me sleep like a baby
The landscaping is looking great. Fine job.
Definitely praying for better weather guys 🥰🙏
🙌 that’s a lot of soil moved by Nick, finally a light at the end of the tunnel 😂
rebar should be tied through the entire wall(grid pattern with wire ties overlapping 1 ft internals. and as you stated, connected and tied into the existing wall-usually using epoxy rated for masonry/rebar
May the sun shine on Château de Chaumont 🌞🙏🏼🌞
Love J from NZ
Excellent progress Dan. I want to see the puppies. The chateau is nowhere near finished - but for the first time can imagine it being finished. Well done the three of you.
Another exciting video - Dan has had a haircut yippee!
It's the trimming of the beard that was most critical.
Good job all you are all amazing. Well done DAN and the A Team. Loved watching see yer tomorrow😘
Dan you and your crew are remarkable! Sure hope the rain stops so you can get more done. ❤
The chateau looks stronger every day! It’s like its ole bones have been brought back to life. No longer us it a relic… it’s a proper reconstructed chateau time will deliver a beauty and all because of your dream and hard work
Coke and Pepsi in the same shot, lightning strike iminent! Great video team Chaumont.
So excited to see that wall going up so fast. Where’s Cameron? He’s missing all the fun. As for the garden, we sure could use some drone footage, it’s looking gorgeous. Well done guys.
We would all like to know about Cameron but they have just erased him from the vlogs and never mention him shame on them😡
@@robinfereday6562He's obviously not there and is likely working on something else. People have jobs. Is Dan supposed to start every video with a personal update on everyone who's ever been to the chateau?
@@claybrinkman533 Dan never looks or reads the comments and it was Cameron’s job as he’s not at Stephanie’s chateau either .i think it would be nice to all subscribers just to let us know what happened to him as he was well liked
@@robinfereday6562Perhaps, just maybe, Cameron has a life outside this chateau? I, for one, am grateful for what grace I am afforded in this magnificent effort.
Hi from Trinidad West Indies. Great job
Hello, from Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸, peace ✌ out my friend
Oh please make the rain let up for you guys. 😊 This is fabulous to watch. Many many thanks Dan et al. You make my day😊
Nice wall. Geez! You haven’t had it easy with the terrible weather Dan. Yes, I’ll pray for better for you 🙏 and you still crack on regardless. Well done
He can work indoors in the other Wing (Although he will have to get the materials ready beforehand, I understand he wants to try and get the Central roof section going but it's a long haul and he's already coming down with the sniffles and working in heavy rain will have its toll!?!
Have a Great Well deserved weekend. My favorite vlog!!!
Rain, birds whistling, fun when the sun's out. Great helpers.
100 tonner Nick the Brick strikes again. It's a most beautiful wall indeed, and yes, I'll pray for a weather change. it's the same in the U.K. 😊🇬🇧
Keep it up Dan and Team ! 😮
Awesome brick work
Thank you for the daily uploads. Watching from the USA!
Hit that LIKE button everyone!!
A long way you've come! Exciting to see this wall being constructed. So much is coming together.
Morning Team Dan, great job😊. If anyone locally has a statue of the child of Prague let Dan have it to put outside the chateau. In Ireland when you want dry weather for a wedding, you put the statue outside😅it often does the trick. Maybe Brian had one😂
I so know about the rain!! We are crop farmers, dry all winter, planting time - rain. Buggers. Like Winston may have said, "If you're going through hell, keep going"
The wall is going up and the metal is prepped so if the rain gives you a break tomorrow you should finish the wall. Anna looks lost without her sister running around. Poor baby! It's so nice having Brian helping you with the wall you've been by yourself so long. Of course Nick has been there helping all the time!
At first the pic of you guys building up the brick wall reminded me of an old Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone! This old man is laying brick talking to his old wife who’s sitting in a rocking chair oblivious. He is on one side the on the other- you can guess- yes after all the talk of it being for her own good , he brick’s himself in !!!!!
Recalls Edgar Allen Poe's "The Cast of Amontillado."
my husband and i are just amazed at your determination and resourcefulness we watch every episode. you are doing great work bringing that place back to life.
The flowers viewed from the front entrance look beautiful. The garden will be amazing
Yes, the entrance looks so welcoming now!
What a team! It is so great to see this all moving along so quickly. Makes me want to sing, “I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it,”. Thank you for being one if not the most entertaining Vlogs!
Keep up the good work as there is a light at the end of the tunnel
Not sure how you work so hard every day but thank you for sharing! Everyday gets more exciting.
What a STUNNING chateau!!! 🥰🎶❤️🎶🌻🌻🌻🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🏰🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🐶🐶
Wow, great design of the cement mixer, with the exhaust noise and fumes straight in your face. Design by accountants
Did I detect some nasal congestion in Dan’s voice? The show must go on regardless of a man flu. Praying you get a break from the weather soon. See ya tomorra.🙏❤️
You have the very best friends and helpers!😊
Great to see the progress
Sounds like you need Lemsips or Beechams Dan!!
I thought the same, get some hot drinks down you Dan! Praying for better weather tomorrow 😊🌞😎xxx
It is raining in Belgium also. Your wall is beautiful! Lunch looked delicious.
Lunch did look awesome, I thought I could smell it when he was bar -B-Qin the 🥩 steaks, 😂 lol, peace ✌ out from Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸
It's raining here in Missouri USA. We're smack dab in the middle of the USA.
Been with you Dan since day one. You're doing an amazing job.
A wall even Hadrian would be proud of.... We'll done boys.. 👍❤️
A little bigger paint brush would have been a blessing.
No pupdate today :(
Great progress however. Can't wait to see the first floor (and noggins) going in.
That's a beautiful wall Dan. Gggeeessss at this rate you'll have a roof before summer is out.

Rocking it guys!!!
Best channel .. always wait hoping for new vlog before bed time ..
nice work Dan!
i'm on to the next video... playing catch up😄
Don't forget to pull those vines on the left column.
Builder here. Tie that wall securely into the side walls for stability or it's very dangerous. Especially as it gets taller. People used to be killed often by these sorts of things.
