I always use a standalone clothes rack to work out what clothes to take on holidays. I put things on the rack one week before travelling, then slowly whittle down to the number of pieces I can mix and match. I store accessories like shoes and bags underneath the rack - scarves and hats are on a hanger/s on the rack. I find this is the best way to organise.

This sounds like a great system, it is much better to plan beforehand.

These are great ideas. I ruled out jumpsuits for airplanes years ago because the bathrooms are too small 😂, but your substitution (2 co-ordinated pieces) is a really good suggestion. Thanks!

You are very welcome. Yes I know some people do not like them, you can create similar with two coordinated pieces.

I love traveling carry-on only! This is very helpful. A video on tea dresses for various sizes and price points would be fun. I don't see many of them in the US, but maybe I"m looking in the wrong places.

Me too. Thank you for the feedback and yes I have made a note of this and will consider it for future content. I will add some from the US

I love your practicality! Love the 2 coordinated pieces idea in lieu of jumpsuits. Also love the reminder to wear what you normally wear at home. I’ve fallen victim to the fantasy self for vacation wardrobes, only to get home & realize “what was I thinking?!” As always, thank you for your straightforward style advice/techniques!

Ooooh! Loved your take on a capsule travel wardrobe. Any chance you would do one for a 7-day holiday in winter or a cold climate?
I'm very committed to using a carry-on only which does mean more intentional planning and keeping an eye on the weather forecast for my destination. But it also means less stress once I'm on the road. On one trip I did get caught in an unexpected cold snap. No problem! I layered up what I had, found a local shop with lovely inexpensive oversized scarves and added it as a windbreaker around my neck and shoulders. It came off quite smart looking and I have another souvenir from that trip that always brings back fond memories.

I love travelling, but I also hate carrying lots of luggage. I always try to minimise what I carry and get very clever about what I pack. What sort of traveller are you? Do you take the kitchen sink or the bare minimum like me?

I really enjoyed watching this Michelle 😊. We had 9 days in Malta recently with just carry on luggage and despite my best efforts still took too much! Next time we go, I will try and follow these tips.
Love the cowl neck tee btw.

Hi Sarah, thank you for the feedback. Malta sounds lovely. It is hard but try and think about what you would wear in summer at home, it'll likely not change much away. Thank you I have linked in the notes similar styles to my cowl neck.

Would love to know acceptable winter hats for women in their 60's.

I enjoyed watching this. It's interesting to see how other women pack for holidays, especially a stylist. I also appreciate that it's down to earth. You really use your own clothes for this, not some promotional stuff. I liked everything except the turned up jeans. They make your legs look shorter. Will take advice on wearing silk with linnen. I've never worn them together but it actually looks great.

Hi thank you for your comment I appreciate the feedback. No if i am using promotional or gifted clothes to promote a particular brand I create a separate video for that and title it the name of the brand. These are my own clothes I am wearing. In regards to the jeans like I said I know they are not for everyone, however as they are high waisted, dark in a wide leg and long they don't make my short ass legs look any shorter haha. Silk and linen is a great combo.

I agree with what you fee comfortable wearing at home is what you are going to want on your travel. But if you are going to a place way hotter than your own don’t forget that they might use aircons every where (US) so you WILL freeze in that 18c cool restaurant if you have cloths for 35c on! So if you don’t know take something for the plane that you can wrap around you when you get cold that looks good enough everywhere!

Hi Eva, Yes very good point. This is where my flying outfit comes into play. It is the same in other parts of the world like south east Asia and Australia.

@@capsuleclosetstylist Well I have lived and traveled a bit in Asia and that depends on where you are. But I guess that is the same almost where ever you go! I worked at an american school in Asia for a while and the aircons were on to the point where I always wore a cardigan on top in the classroom. I think it is way better to not turn it on more than necessary.

    • @capsuleclosetstylist

Yes I totally agree with this it is such an unnecessary use of energy sometimes.

I have a question. I sweat a lot. I can never wear a vest/ t-shirt/top/blouse more than once. Seldom my white or light light blue jeans/trousers either as I will get stains and if it is hot the waist will be sweaty in one evening. I will not wash my cloths if I am away for only a week! How would you then pack in a carry on? Btw I usually only travel with only a carry on!

Have you looked at Become Clothing? They make vests for exactly this reason. Very lightweight too www.becomeclothing.com/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAABcDGQd5RXbWjaIjrrPA_947isss4&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzby1BhCQARIsAJ_0t5MEgY-acxaO0bJc89Kr5tT2HJvUEA0OebLKRisOSTnt8X4UKSDTnGoaAsbdEALw_wcB
