This is a honest love song. It's not moon and June sweet stuff . But real love. And I like it that way. The lyrics are making me cry. I am dedicating it to my loved one. Thanks for writing a honest love song Buffy. It's much appreciated.
Buffy's lyrics are timeless. In 1971, elvis presley's studio recording is otherworldly. His chameleon voice is like a fine Bordeaux wine, rich and complex with delicate shadings. Timeless
One of my favorite love songs, ever. I specifically bought her album for this song back in 1971, and luckily it was the same song on the album as was playing on the radio (often times the hit song on an album is NOT the version on the radio). Anyway, I play "Until It's Time For You To Go" whenever I feel especially melancholy. It's funny, her changed...she doesn't sound the same as in her album. Her 1971 recording of this song is so much better. If you can, find that album...that is how I will remember her.
Absolutely one of the loveliest songs ever,,, I spent the day yesterday listening to all the different artist rendering of it....the backstory is just as sad..
I first saw Buffy in concert at Sheffield City Hall in November 1971. What a songwriter and performer she was! That unmistakable tremulous voice lifted her compositions still higher and she made connections with other humans that Lyndon B Johnson and other warmongers could never emulate in their widest dreams. "Until It's Time for You To Go" remains beautiful and timeless.
It is touching to see the rapt and respectful expression on the faces of the musicians on either side as they listen to singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie doing her own thing . . .
I learned this song to sing in the early 70s, a pretty raw kid with accidental good taste in repertory. Now I'm 70, the song has been painfully on point twice already in my life, and is now, unbelievably, again as I live out waning days with a dying partner. I sing very little any more, and I wonder if I could deliver this one now the experience supports it.
I am sending prayers to you both and the words that helped me through a similar situation. "Love is all there is" - Rumi. And I trust you will sing again.
when I was living in Berkeley awaiting my first year I needed an expensive summer course at uc. I got a call and a quiet little voice asked for me and teen said this is b.s.m answered right and I am Joan Baez and hung up. BUFFY called back and indicated that she had heard me amonst INDIAN CIRCLES and offered me scholarship.? I apologized profusely we have been close friends since. I am 73. you figure the time when WE began a supportive movement since. may the spirits always care for you. Syl
I always knew my grandfather was right back in the 70s. Average singer that had to pretend too be indigenous to achieve fame. He actually suffered for being indigenous, fought in two wars for this country, and served his community. He deserves the order of Canada more than a pretendindian.
And elvis presley's interpretation is light years above anyone's Just listen to the studio recording in 1971. Elvis's chameleon voice is like a fine Bordeaux wine, rich and complex, with delicate shadings. Timeless....
It's interesting that she thanks the fans who bought those other artists' recordings of this tune, but not the artists themselves. She seems perhaps a little dismissive of them? (Especially poor Bobby Darin!) I'm wondering if she endorsed/approved of any of the cover versions?
The more video I watch of this fraudulent woman shows that she was well aware of the lies she lived for six decades. Indigenous Native Americans and 1st Nation people should be furious with her. All that fake wailing! Unbelievable indeed!
@@Sunshine-zm1fx it's just an opinion ... the fact that you describe it as negative tells me that you are a person who likes to categorize meanings ;-) I'm just saying that i don't like this version. But i love Elvis' version :-)
Elvis was the only one who could sing somebody else's song way better than they ever could
One of the best love songs ever written and I love her singing it 🤍
There is a feeling inside ourselves and Buffy can touch it and can give us happiness in sorrow and sorrow in happiness.

why is the song sped up ?
🌞👍🌹🍀🥂🌷
For ivam
Who did Buffy not write songs for??? The list would probably be shorter.
Even movies, And she won an Oscar.
All those people she mentioned ... none of them do this song as well as she does.

Thankfully, the audience were ordered not clap as soon as they recognised the song!
Lol

Pfff sorry don"t like it. Elvis' version is much better.
You don't always have to write your negative opinion online, you know. You can keep your negative thoughts to yourself. Make the world a better place.
