DIY Dried Flower Christmas Tree

  • Join me as I build my very first dried flower Christmas tree! Here on our farm, we grow mountains of flowers, which I have been drying and saving all summer long, to have beautiful bright and homegrown flowers during the cold and dark winter months. So pulling them out, and celebrating them with a dried flower tree installation seems like the perfect DIY project during this quiet month before the growing season begins again on the farm. Hopefully, you can gain some tips from watching me experiment and learn about putting together the tree. And let me know what you think of the finished project!

If I were to attend a Christmas Eve service and reflect on the Glories of a Divine Creator, this is the tree I would prefer upon the dias. The beauty of God' s nature, combined with your talent and passion for your work , are more dazzling to me than all the shimmer and gold one can offer. You have given me beauty and joy for this special season. May it return to your family ten fold.

    It looks stunning!
I’d offer this as a hotel decoration thing where they would need to provide an undecorated tree and book a put up and take down date (charge extra to go take it down). Offer like 5 of them, market it as supporting a local business, and charge around grand for a 6’ tree. A florist would charge WELL over a grand.

  • @janedoe3095

I think the wreathes you made should have included more of your flowers and with this time of year fragrant herbs would be wonderful.
Since they are perennials both rosemary and sage would be fabulous because they are truly no fuss plantings and either one would make fabulous wreathes even without pine. That way you could have three optional scents or even a 4th option of mostly pine or fir with some sprigs of herbs to add to the scent for your wreaths and while not a big fan of the browns (but that tree looks amazing with them. But then add some dried flowers.
It wouldn’t be the same old (yawn) wreathes. They would smell fantastic and with those beautiful splashes of color and it would definitely establish your wreathes as different. You could also continue making bouquets using lots of the holiday greenery with some of your more beautiful flowers

Hmm. I wonder if you could get a good deal on artificial garland/greenery in post-holiday clearances, do you think it could be profitable to plan for this type of wreath or garland next season? You've done such a great job of curating your supply for fresh and dry arrangements. And you've done so much research into what sells and what doesn't. You would know better than any of us what would be profitable in your local market.
That tree is so beautiful. And unique! I love that you're planning this far ahead, and I can't wait to see what you decide to sell next!

The tree is pretty Serena! I think the flowers would look really pretty on a white tree, too. Maybe you could do smaller trees to make them more affordable? I hope you don't take this wrong but I think you could benefit from taking some classes or watching tutorials on floral design, too. I know flowers aren't your passion and growing food is but you do seem to be warming up to the flowers!!! I wish you all the best and much success in the future! I really admire your work ethic 😀

So pretty. Forget doing events. I helped organize events for 20 years before I retired and it is stressful - so save yourself some stress. However, you could use your creativity and abundant dried flowers by offering mini tabletop dried flower trees any time of year. I wonder if those would sell at your winter holdiay farmers market or at your stand. I know I would purchase one and it would lower the price a bit if they were much smaller - definately a keeper! You're so talented.

I always love your stuff, and this is a nice idea but the "half petals fallen off sunflowers" cheapen the look of it. That completely ruins the tree for me. If you like the brown of the sunflowers then I would take the leaves completely off ... Either display the sunflowers with all of their petals but if some of the petals have fallen off then either toss them completely or take the petals off completely and then use them for the brown like you mentioned.
