I cringe when I think about some things I did when raising my sons but I was improving on how I was raised. Remember your parents couldn’t have been that bad if they raised you and you turned out okay.

Last person didn't go thru until 830PM! (I'm a poll worker, so I know of what I speak.) And that was in the middle of a pandemic! 3. Here in GA, we have 2 Saturdays open for early voting. I'm a Gen Xer born in 1968 who is quite progressive, yet a large portion of my generation has drunk the MAGA Kool-aid. I'm not saying all of the Gen Xer's are like this but it's primarily those who came of age under Ronald Reagan. I'm part of the 80's wave with Cosby, Atari, and Madonna, which is different from the Gen Xers who came of age under Bill Clinton, or the Seinfeld, Nintendo, and Nirvana wave. Anyhoo, I was quite angry at the way the media and corporate Democrats forced Joe Biden to step down, but I was shocked at how everyone in the party coalesced around Kamala Harris after Biden endorsed her. I think the joy is truly palpable around the Harris/Walz ticket, and while there will be much excitement after they are elected this November, there will be much love for Joe Biden as well for allowing this to happen.

The money issue is hopefully promises about campaign reform and Congressional term limits. I think that the democratic party needs to come to terms with the fact that the majority of their base now has either come of age or raised their children in a post 9/11 world. They have a very deep fundamental difference in the way they think and go about interacting wiith the world because they were affected by the events in ways the older generations cant understand.The old way doesnt work anymore because they dont understand what drives the newer generations.
Harris and Walz understand - but the establishment doesn't, and they didn't want Harris/Walz when Biden stepped aside ... going to get a bit messy methinks
To be fair to our older generation, raised their kids with scars from the Second World War, frightened by Russia, children still getting polio and measles, simple church attendees and more polite, not questioning, and not as connected to the bigger world. We have all grown as a culture and now have more tools in the tool box to make advances. It is all good.
@ellenmais-ir4lh yes exactly my point ,different generational traumas caused fundamental differences, millennials for example are scientifically more prone to anxiety because of events they experienced, which means that while bidens messaging of trump being a threat might work for older voters it is more likely to cause already anxious millennial to disengage because it overwhelms them. There's nothing wrong with the old way necessarily it just doesn't speak to the younger generations experiences and motivations.

I think that the democratic party needs to come to terms with the fact that the majority of their base now has either come of age or raised their children in a post 9/11 world. They have a very deep fundamental difference in the way they think and go about interacting wiith the world because they were affected by the events in ways the older generations cant understand.The old way doesnt work anymore because they dont understand what drives the newer generations.
Harris and Walz understand - but the establishment doesn't, and they didn't want Harris/Walz when Biden stepped aside ... going to get a bit messy methinks
To be fair to our older generation, raised their kids with scars from the Second World War, frightened by Russia, children still getting polio and measles, simple church attendees and more polite, not questioning, and not as connected to the bigger world. We have all grown as a culture and now have more tools in the tool box to make advances. It is all good.
@ellenmais-ir4lh yes exactly my point ,different generational traumas caused fundamental differences, millennials for example are scientifically more prone to anxiety because of events they experienced, which means that while bidens messaging of trump being a threat might work for older voters it is more likely to cause already anxious millennial to disengage because it overwhelms them. There's nothing wrong with the old way necessarily it just doesn't speak to the younger generations experiences and motivations.
