6:54 - That was actually the best result for that play. Drop the ball, 4th and goal; throw the 2nd pass incomplete, 4th and goal; throw the touchdown, 3rd and goal 5 yards back.
Could you do a "Coaches losing their temper" compilation? Like when coaches get mad at the refs for making a bad call or getting mad at the players for making a boneheaded play.
6:54 commentators are wrong about Weeden making a “mistake”. By throwing a TD on the second illegal pass, he forced NY to accept the penalty and got his team a second try at 3rd and goal in a two-score game.
According to my dad, after that play, the fans knew pretty quickly Majkowski wasn't getting the starting position back when he did heal. Brett was just too good.
@@brookethomas5921 I could just imagine. But put them against the Steelers down by six and the Steelers are their 10-0 and the jets are 0-10 or whatever they are. That would be legendary.
Actually that last play may not have been a mistake, since the penalty in NFL rules (unlike Federation or NCAA rules) did not include loss of down. Since they were behind by 10 in the 4th quarter and would want another shot at 3rd down, by making the touchdown they forced the defense to accept the penalty and have the down replayed with only a 5 yard penalty.
In about two-thirds of these plays, they either gained nothing or lost yards. Since you're risking injury to your QB, the 'just knock it down' seems like good advice.
It's interesting that it's not a loss of down penalty (it should probably be a 5 yard pen + loss of down + 10 second run-off). No loss of down makes it almost always better to throw a 2nd pass, taking the 5 yard penalty and getting another down unless you happen to get one of those few lucky situations where you can run for a big gain/1st down/TD. Most of the time in this video the QB just got whacked immediately after grabbing the ball again. So throw the 2nd pass, reset and go again. If you do throw the 2nd pass and don't get a first down, the opponent will probably decline the penalty to force the loss of down anyway but that just means you don't get the yardage penalty which is still a benefit.
By the way that mariota dived at 1:13 (might not be the correct time but it's somewhere around that margin of time) it made me think that he was expecting the pass to himself😂😂😂. Oh and someone please tell me why he dived when there was literally no one in the area 😂😂😂. Anyways enough about that 🤣🤣🤣 great video dude
If it’s 3rd and long, it actually makes the most sense for all offensive linemen to hold and throw it a 2nd time, to someone that’s just behind the first down marker, forcing a decline of penalty to result in 4th and inches, giving you another shot at 3rd down. Can’t wait for Belichick to cheat and try this.
The TDs are 11+ PPR fantasy points from one player. 4 for the passing TD, 6 for the receiving TD, 1 for the reception, then 0.04 per passing yard AND 0.1 per receiving yard. Double dip!
This is why I miss Mariota lol. I get why we didn’t resign him, but he was the reason I fell in love with the Titans in the first place. But hey, I still love my boys. Maybe we’ll still get him back one day, who knows?
The smart play in this situation would be to catch the ball and make a second forward pass. Why? Because that may be illegal, but it's only a 5 yard penalty and you get to repeat the down. If you knock the ball down, you lose no yards, but a down (as you do if the illegal forward pass penalty is declined). Because on most of these plays the quarterback winds up with a reception for a loss, plus obviously a loss of a down.
Passing after you catching is worth because it is better to not lose yards. If you get a first down they will accept the penalty and the down will be repeated. That’s better than losing down and losing yards.
An idea you could do is quarterbacks missing wide open receivers (not like overthrowing them but like not throwing to them at all, like throwing to another receiver in coverage).
Also known as half the Bears-Packers moments, except they won't let us fight anymore. One day, there will be too much pent-up anger, and every ref in the league will be upset they didn't just let them have little fights all along.

Could you do “setting it right” moments? Example: DK Metcalf dogs it to the end zone and gets the ball punched out but the next week he closes a 10 yard gap and tackles Budda Baker at the 4 and the cardinals don’t score. Thank you I love your videos!
Looks cool to catch your own pass that has been batted, but seems like you're better off letting the ball land, rather than catching it and likely losing yardage.
You can’t try two forward passes and it looked like Brady did that in the first highlight. Also, how does that apply in the stats - they catch a deflection and then gain or lose yardage. NFL gurus probably have a stat for that.
Ok one more comment: I’ve been watching football all my life and played in HS, and I always thought that this was kind of a pet peeve for a secondary pass to be illegal. I think the commission should change the rules as if as long as the QB is behind the line of scrimmage, he can throw the ball until the play is dead or he get an INT. Furthermore, if the QB is in the redzone, he can’t throw a secondary pass. That’s when the refs should drop the flags. But that’s just me. I just feel like it’ll be more exciting to see more of this if the rules are slightly changed.
