This is just my impression, the the visuals seem to me to be saying, "Forget the costumes, forget our pretty faces, forget the image... it's about the instruments." Notice you mainly see the instruments, the bass, the drums, the guitars, and the mouths. The Maids seem to me to be saying "We are 100% substance, 0% gimmick." And I agree.
“Blooming” is one of those songs where the music video actually serves it up best. 👍🏽 I’ve heard people connect the concept of “blooming” with the videography keeping the Maids hidden, then slowly revealing more of them. Fun fact: this song was a compilation of different melodies and elements from each member. Kanami had become a bit frustrated being relied upon so heavily for songwriting and arrangement. So she gave the other members some homework (and probably a deadline 😂) I do know the interesting intro/outro chord progression was from MISA.
Probably a Top 5 Band Maid song for me. This song was featured in the Netflix action movie, 'Kate' which was set in Japan. The song is playing during one of the car chase scenes. Band Maid makes a brief appearance in the movie playing at a club before a fight scene. The song they were playing was 'Choose Me' which I highly recommend to check out if you haven't.
The lyrics are by Miku Kobato, vocals, rhythm guitar & band founder. She is highly respected in Japan for her lyrics which she create from movies, books, and traditional stories. The mix of English and Japanese is primary for Lyric Flow. Many words in Japanese are multiple syllables, but in English they may just be one syllable. Miku can and read English and with prep time she speaks it pretty good. Suggestion - "Sayonakidori" both the full roar and acoustic version.
Is it the Northern Exposure moose!? 🫎🫎🫎 Anyway, my vote is for reactors to watch the video first time without subtitles and not worrying about what the song means. There's just too much to take in and it interrupts the flow. Then, watch a second time with lyrics. I'm not a lyrics person so much, but I know there're many people who are REALLY into lyrics from moment one, so you're probably dammed if you do, dammed if you don't, eh? Bonus points for the bird! 🦜🦜🦜
Great reaction and a number of their songs/MV are a must see (as opposed to the live version) just for the visuals; Blooming, Manners, Unleash, Influencer. There are keeping themselves hidden so that you only concentrate on the music/instruments and only later as they bloom do we see their faces a little more clearly and them only the singers. Thanks for continuing to react to Band-Maid.
Band-Maid wanted you to pay more attention to the music instead of them ! My favorite song by my favorite Band ! Thanks Momma =) btw if you haven't seen "Real Existence' Official Live it's pretty good too .
I think this is on my list already but I've written it down to be sure. I plan on doing documentaries during live streams. I'm still recovering from spinal fusion surgery so another week or two and I might be ready to start going live. Thank you so much!
Roughly 12 days ago, I asked MommaOG if she would react to more Band-Maid and told her to pick any song. Roger, I also consider myself a “Carrier Pigeon”. I’m just not at your level. 🍻🎸🥁🤘🏼
@@RogerChance5309I’m not on Discord. I’m more focused on getting Band-Maid’s music played on radio and Sirius satellite stations. I’ve gotten Band-Maid songs listed on Indie Rage Radio’s website song request list. I’m currently trying to get “Choose Me” added to that list.
This MV and the ones for ALONE and DICE don't show the maids' faces much - they were shy back then, less confident, and also wanted to push the musicianship more than the maid image. Not sure when Saiki gets to breathe when she sings on this fast-paced song! But then no-one else seems to stop for a breath either! I usually listen and watch the maids in action and then go back and play it again while taking in the lyrics....then play it a few more times and enjoy the whole thing!
On the live versions of this song, they are behind a paywall, or on Copyrighted material. They ARE very good though. From Line Cube Shibuya to Rockville, to Penney Lane in Sapporo, they are all very good performances. The Ladies bring their A-Game to every performance and if I had my druthers, I'd be a Maid Head ala the Dead Heads who followed the Grateful Dead.
This is the ONLY way to watch "Blooming", in fact I always suggest watching their music videos first, then go to LIVE......the MV just sets the song up so much better IMHO......plus like in Blooming the harmonies, which are Angelic, come out much better and can never be replicated LIVE.....plus, I don't think they perform this song LIVE much. Such an absolute Rock Masterpiece.
Here’s a live video of Blooming from San Francisco, in 2022 - th-cam.com/video/c0RKqEQmwCk/w-d-xo.html The closeups in the MV show only their INSTRUMENTS, as if to say that it’s not the style of their clothes or the look of their faces that are important; the MUSIC they are playing is all that matters. Just listen to the music and feel the groove. You can look up the lyrics later (or beforehand) if that’s important to you.
Along with the suggestions I see in the comments, a great older song (not written by them) is The Non Fiction Days. This was a great show closing song at the Live at Studio Coast concert so that version shows some energy but if you can't find that, the MV version is great as well. Thank you for keeping Band Maid in the mix.
Hello there MommaOG, taking a trip to the Land of the Rising Sun I see! Many of the newer Japanese rock/metals band's have gotten a lot better at marketing in the U.S. than previous generations. So I'm not surprised to see you reacting to Band-Maid, Lovebites or BabyMetal. However, there's another awesome Japanese band that's been around since 1985 called ANTHEM. My guess is that you've not heard of them. ANTHEM has something like 21 studio releases, 19 of which I own and had to import from Japan. They released and album called Crimson & Jet Black in 2023 and in my humble opinion, the BEST metal album of the year. If your so inclined to peer into that rabbit hole, I'd suggest you start with either a video titled 'Black Empire' off their Nucleus album OR their video 'Wheels of Fire' from the Crimson & Jet Black album. 'Snake Eyes' and 'Blood Brothers' are also good. I'd love to see my favorite Japanese band get some more exposure, they are incredible and deserve more love!
Hi Joel! Absolutely... I'd love to check them out. I've written all four songs down on my list. Thank you for taking the time to tell me about them and hope you're well.
Blooming doesn't translate too well, as a live song. Part of it is the extreme precision of the timing, and part of it is that Saiki doesn't perform with vocal effects, like the ones used here. Great studio track, though.

Until they got to the layered harmonies, THAT is when they finally showed Miku and Saiki's faces. Their voices were their instrument then.
This song is one of the 50 songs in my BAND-MAID Top 10 ;) and the guitar solo is one of the 10 solos in my Top 3 of her guitar solos ;) hehe
Makes perfect sense

Seen them live multiple times....best live band on the planet
I don't have a favorite Band-Maid song, but Blooming is my favorite Band-Maid song, Po. 🕊️🌹
Blooming is my favorite too. I love the way the lyrics are almost hopeless but the music transforms them into something optimistic.
Probably a Top 5 Band Maid song for me.

Beautiful, Thanks for the reaction
I love that this song is right next to 'Bubble' in my playlist....they work so well together.

Just on a shirt I got when I went to visit my mom in Montana. She's fairly close to the Canadian border. 1.5-2 hours.

I've got about 13 reactions that I haven't edited yet and that song is one of them so stay tuned. Thanks Barry!
Band-Maid. Blooming Brilliant! Thx, Momma! 🤘😉🎀
I mean this song is amazing LIVE but it’s one of those songs that must be experienced.
First you want to hear Band-Maid then you need to hear Band-Maid 😊
At the time was their most complex & still one of their best songs! Now you gotta do their song *Bubble*
I would love to see what you think about the excellent series of Band-Maid documentaries created by Ohrenje!
I think this is on my list already but I've written it down to be sure. I plan on doing documentaries during live streams. I'm still recovering from spinal fusion surgery so another week or two and I might be ready to start going live. Thank you so much!
BAND MAID!!!!!! Perfection!!!!!
You just won the "Kanami Is Speaking" T-Shirt! Look it up.
Not sure what this means but I would love a tshirt. lol
Oh they definitely have some equivalently-awesome music videos; here ya' go:
"Secret MAIKO LIPS"
"Warning!"
"Shambles"
"Choose me"
💜💛❤💙💚
Glad to see you still supporting our Maids! 🍺😁🤘🏻🕊️

I'll give you some "deep cut" jems.... Awkard, Anemone, Freezer, Honkai, Turn Me On ..... and my fav which isn't so deep - Don´t Let Me Down.

How many generas can you fit in one song?
Yes. 😅😂

Agreed! (but I think this about so many Band-Maid songs)
