As someone who works in medical and drives a White Gladiator with 38s and 5.13s, this build hits home. We regularly tow a 4,000lbs camper and the 3.6 does just fine in the Rockies. I would rather be closer to 2,000lbs as the 3.6 can get your teeth gnawing at 4k rpm. Thanks for embracing your passion, I can see the direction the channel is headed now.
I sooo wish Jeep had made a two door, long bed Gladiator. It would be perfect for a overlander.
I'm honestly surprised they don't.. you're right that would be awesome.
I agree, but if you look at how few 2 door Wranglers they sell, I don't think there is any financial motivation for them to make a 2 door JT.
It's all about the marketing. They could be the only one selling a basic 2 door 4x4 or 2wd truck. They could get into fleet vehicles. I'd love to have one without power everything. It would be a great fleet vehicle
they tell us all the time in class there are fewer and fewer people buying 2 doors, thats why we dont sell any camry's or corrola's with 2 doors.............me ? I love 2 doors......@@TrailRecon
@@1st_perrybros875 That J6 concept would be sweet to have. It's a 2dr built on a JLU frame I think.
I don't have to have the 392 either. I'd be happy with a small block V8. I had a WJ with the 4.6L V8 and loved it.
As a retired firefighter, paramedic, Fire Captain with the fire service, and overlander, I get exactly what you are trying to do with this build. There are so many times we've gotten into scary situations while off road. In hindsight, we wondered, what would we do if something went wrong. We can patch our patients up to a point. We were remote, nowhere near medical services with more supplies, much less transport to a road where emergency vehicles would be able to meet up with us. This build will be worth every penny the first time it's used as you intend it to. The patient and family will be grateful and that's what your career was about. Very excited to watch all the vids and final project. Will be sad to see Prickly Pear go, if that's your decision but I know about owning an older vehicle and what money pits they become. All the best!
As it has been said, the Jeep is a purpose built vehicle, and your vision for this Jeep Gladiator is certainly the right choice. I am almost as excited about his build as I am my own. Can't wait to see how this build unfolds!
Brad is our Guinea Pig testing out the latest equipment, this is a normal progression we all expected.
The Red 392 seemed like a forced color choice from the get-go and the Green vintage Jeep Cherokee would supply nostalgia but a lot of people forget that old cars are very high maintenance which can be detrimental on the trail. Dump them and move on, your viewers demand more adventure.
The new vehicle will need New adventures! May I suggest traversing all 5 cliff systems of The Grand Escalante in Southern Utah; The Chocolate cliffs, Vermillion, White, Grey and Pink Cliffs
@@kblaine123 U R off topic. Brad is doing the responsible thing and dumping the old Green one to move on so his fans can see the latest build.
Smart move BK, we respect U
In the bed of my 2014 of my double cab k1500 I have a carpet kit, chuck box, kitchen gear, tools, air pump, fridg, jackery, and bed, on roof the usual...matts, gas, axe, shovel, storage boxes. That way if I'm out away from my rv I can camp if necessary.
Another great Coffee One-Take! I've been ready to buy a new Gladiator for the past several months. Thought I'd buy one while on Maui in late November for my wife and my twelfth anniversary. Two things kept me from buying one: Debbie is an accountant; neither of us has been employed in over twelve years. The other stumbling block was the fact that for whatever reason, you sold or traded your Gladiator Rubicon. I'm pretty sure I could have sold Debbie on the purchase--had it not been for your situation. The one thing that held me back from doing so was the fact that you no longer had a Gladiator. (Am not thinking of trading either our Wrangler or our Buick Enclave. The Gladiator will be our third car.) Jeep dealers on Oahu (where there are 3 of them), and on Maui (where there is only one), add many thousands to their MSRP. Thanks for another interesting video! Go Navy! Andy McKane
Hi Brad. I'm watching this video and my thoughts are racing. As an Emt I'm living vicariously through you on this project!
I'm sure you've considered back boards as a stretcher....I know my rural service has backboards stacked up because we've adopted vacuum mats instead.
I would love to carry an AED as part of my first aid kit. Right now my concern is upkeep and battery life.
I love your plans.....thank you for caring about your fellow offroaders!
Mark A.
I love my 1949 Willys jeep Overland pickup. 2dr & 7’ bed
Setup with 1 tons, 5300lb tow rating.
The transportation of patients should be to just get them to the highway to meet the ambulance or to get the patient to an area suitable for an air lift. And I agree with you selling the 392 due to the problems with the lockers and the transfer case issue.
Sir, well done! To those that currently serve, (be it in the military, medical first responders, fire, or LE) thank you. For those that have served, thank you for your service. Brad, I really like your patch display! That’s a big big upgrade to your garage decor. Warms my heart, especially seeing both the old and new Station 39 patches!
I have a '22 Gladiator diesel. Something I have been kicking around in my head is putting a canvas cover on the back. The frame will be 4" PVC pipe that will be my water reservoir. Use enough supports and cross braces and it will hold a substantial amount of water with no need for baffles.
The clarity that this is a tribute vehicle helps quite a lot. I’m excited to see this come to life.
I think the idea of this build is great. Especially because you go on so many group trail rides. Or that your able to participate in search and rescue situations. Amazing to think back in our lives, to then and look at life's path to the now. That's what makes your vision so special.
Thank you for not getting rid or the silver beast!!!! It was my inspiration to start over-landing.
I love Running Springs, and escaping onto the San Bernardino NF.
Keep up the good work! Can’t wait to see the final product.
I'm so excited to see this project progress!!
Good for you Brad. I am happy for you and yes.... you have to let some things go sometimes and move forward. That's how it is. God bless and good luck on this new venture!! I can't wait to see your videos building it, and the final product.
Very excited; I can’t wait to watch the progress!
This is sounding to be very exciting and it certainly looks GREAT! Excited to watch this develop.
All your ideas and reasoning is spot on! Excited for this build series since I also own a new JT Rubicon and now building something pretty interesting on it too!
I like the red on the white gladiator as well. Honestly i wonder about just building it out for camping and pulling a trailer for first aid needs or alternating trailers for need.
Currently resto modding a 93 S10 and i feel you man its overwhelming all the things that need done.
Thank you so much for restarting these coffee videos, always learning from you!
Welcome back to the Gladiator club! Over four years with my launch edition Gladiator, still love the 3.6l engine. All the power you ever need off-road with 37s and 4:88s and decent fuel economy on and off road. Not as much fun as my buddies 392 on the road but if I wanted a sports car for the road it wouldn’t be a jeep at all.
Just saying, the quadratec CJ retro wheels in white would look KILLER on this build.
As a proud Gladiator owner, I’m REALLY excited for this series as well😊😊😊😊😊
Outstanding quest !! can't wait
So glad you got a gladiator again watching your old videos adventuring in the gladiator helped solidify my want for one and now that I have one so glad I do
Love the attention to detail and the rationale behind every decision, from the color scheme to the engine choice.
Love this!!!
I love how excited you are about you vehicles! You remind me so much of myself. I trade vehicles a lot (and I mean A LOT). We’ve both owned a lot of the same vehicles (392, 4xE, Gladiator, PW, JKU) and I can feel the type of excitement you have for this build. Although, by being the same way as you with vehicles, I can see that you suffer from the same thing I do as well, and that is you get bored (maybe bored is the wrong word) or tired of what you’re currently driving once the “honeymoon” wears off or it gives you some issue or problem that leaves you with a sour taste and leaves you searching for something more. I relate to you so well in this aspect. In the past four years alone I’ve gone from owning a 2019 Ram Rebel, ‘04 TJR, and ‘19 Mustang GT; downsizing to just a ‘20 JTR, then consecutive trades to a ‘21 4xE R, ‘20 Power Wagon, ‘22 JT Mojave, and now my ‘21 392 XR. I finally feel like I have a keeper with the 392. If anything I’ll be forced to keep because of the declining market and what I currently owe on it which includes a lot of negative equity from trading so many previous vehicles for it. But that’s ok. It’s probably good that I actually hang onto a vehicle for awhile. 😂 The longest vehicle I ever owned was the one that started the Jeep thing for me. And that was my 2008 JKU R. Kept it for 4.5 years and that vehicle literally changed my life. Its to me what your ‘16 JKUR “Wallace” is to you. Anyways, sorry for all the wording but just felt like sharing since this is very relatable to me. Best of luck with the build! I definitely look forward to seeing the progress and to what vehicles or endeavors you come up with next!
You’re not wrong. He had to have the red Gladiator, pumped a bunch of time and money into it, then explained all the reasons he got rid of it. Only to get another Gladiator. I bet his next Gladiator will be blue.
@@jasont7814 Been there, done that! Not my Gladiators but I have built up Jeeps, just to trade them a few months later for something completely different. LOL!
The Emerald Isle North Carolina lifeguards have Gladiators done in red and white. Perfect colors and vehicle for it’s purpose. They’re really sharp.
Awesome idea devil doc! I hope it all works out the way your planning it sounds great. Can’t wait to watch the build!!!
Great project Brad. Can’t wait to see the final product.
I’m so glad you’re doing a gladiator build. I have a gladiator and I’m always looking for good ideas. I have set mine up for recovering with my daughters jeep wrangler Willys.
I'm so excited to see this build. Love the idea!
This is all the right ideas. This reminds me of the brush fire Jeep gladiator fast response unit that came out a couple years ago. Completely decked out that they showcased on dirt road cred. I think this is wonderful idea.
Look so forward to the build, thank you for sharing.
What an awesome project Brad. We can’t wait to see what you do next. Love all the videos
Once the Gladiator is in a Functional State you might consider working with local Search & Rescue on their training days in the area from time to time. Would be a good way to test readiness as well as pick up some extra skills.
Some of those were awesome!!!! Keeping the red ring headlights is a must!!!
Loving this direction. I am looking forward to some of the conversations you have with your power and com's experts. It would be nice to elevate those conversations beyond what people are typically putting in their rigs. 72 hours is a great time frame for self sufficiency that I think can extend into the prepper community.
..."everybody that's doing God's work". That is great Brad.
Hey Brad, been following you for a long time, love watching you and your family in adventures. Learned a lot when I had my two door wrangler. I now have a gladiator Mojave and I am excited to see this build. Love the concept, as a Marine the Corpsman was probably the most important member of the platoon. We also have family members that are firemen/EMT’s so it’s awesome to see this tribute build.
🍻 Really looking forward to this build.
Looking forward to this build!!!
Great explanation of the planned mission. Love the renders, they remind me of the hospital ships. Completely agree on not using a Hummer, cool vehicle, but not fun to ride in or maintain. Really excited to see the project mature.
I'm not a medic by any terms, but I do carry a medical back in Mt Silverado on all my trips. My basic Army training from 1964 will be of some use. And, there could be someone there also with more experience. One thing I went on a trail ride this last summer with Casey at Coyote Works and an EMT was there who explained that most supplies were outdated in 3 yrs. (maybe a video of essential medical supplies for the average old guy (79) and others) to carry along in a first aid pack (kit).
Ohhhh man I'm watching the video and getting hyped. Smart cap with some kind of cover.....👍👍👍
im excited 😊
Great project Brad. Sounds like you are doing the rational thinking needed to bring this project to life. Good luck😎
I never thought you would get rid of the 392, because how much you loved it! I figured the Cherokee was going to go and I guessed the van.
Can’t wait to see what you do.
Glad you are keeping it white! That was my first thought. Plus it saves some money on a wrap or paint job.
Yeah I'd ditch the 392 and Green Jeep.
Sometimes things we have is just stuff if it helps fuel a passion. Making and being part of something bigger is worth the sacrifices as you have demonstrated.
I, too, am a ham radio operator and have set my home station up like a net control. I have HF Equipment, uhf/vhf, and CB both home and portable.
Refreshing to hear what your future plans are for your rigs and which ones your keeping and saying good by to. I think we all really like the transparency of this video. Well Done.
Sell what you need/want to. Keep the silver Jeep. Have fun in Regina’s and your boys new daily toys and go on to the next chapter of your life and this channel’s.❤
Love the elf on the shelf!!! Nice touch. Can’t wait to see this thing built up.
To sell your vehicles, I highly recommend using Cars and Bids. I sold my old TJ Rubicon using that platform a couple years ago and was delighted what it sold for.
Great concept for a trail aid rig. You are right, people don't take first aid seriously enough. Looks like it's gonna be an Awesome rig! Can't wait to see where this goes.
I really like everything about your channel, but i especially enjoy your coffee one take segments!
Right on! Ideas born from a lifetime of adventure.
It is certainly more affordable for me to watch Trail Recon
To buy, sale, test, travel adventures & maintain a vision for humanity.
When talking about the "teaching" aspect of first aid, maybe a few thought out QR codes that are placed strategically on the build that redirect to the product (on your website) and description informing why some of the pieces are so important. Don't want to make it a driving billboard, just some thoughtful items
Just a thought Brad. Make the trailer the Aid Station and use the Gladiator as bronc bustin quick response. Enjoy, and always a pleasure to help someone carry the Jackass into town😊
Good video, thanks for the update, heading in a good direction.
You reminded me of M.A.S.H. during this video. Your Gladiator would bring patients to such a mobile unit in an emergency situation. Let’s hope we don’t all go Mad Max to the point that this could happen.
Love this idea with the gladiator.
Im so excited to see how you do this.
Looking forward to the build!
This is a great build!
You should see what Down2Mob Overland channel runs currently. I think there’s a lot to inspire there since he has a white Gladiator Rubicon with a unique camper for the bed.
I understand your reasons for getting rid of each vehicle. I find the greatest fun in building things up and love it while I am doing it and it feels like a let down when I get it all done. My son has the diesel in the JL and loves it. Our local dealer has a couple diesel Gladiators and I have been tempted to add one along with my power wagon.
I can't wait to see this unfold. I purchased a used 2020 gladiator in white and have been building it up for a year now. Next year will be a set of dynatrac axles pr44 and xd60.
One “low cost” solution to a stretcher is a custom sealed boot opening on one side between the bed and cabin. Add a 6-7’ pull out shelf. Keep the tailgate up for departure angle with no exposure mods required. 😉
I've thought about that and it's one idea, but there rear seat (deleted seats) is already going to have a good chuck of that space used.
@@TrailRecon I later thought another easier option is to have a raised platform go thru the window. It’s higher up for a patient use but more likely used for camp sleeping. Then you still have all the space underneath and oem window is replaceable. I’d add an extension to the bed slide out so it’s normally shorter with custom boot closing panel for cabin noise.
Those are baddass. Just wow 🤩
The pictures are amazing, I love the all white with red
Thanks! I'm sold on the white and red.
I can't wait to see the adventures you have in this build. I am thinking about the Gladiator will be my next vehicle. It will be a great daily driver while I build the overland portion.
Bless you brother, outstanding!!
@TrailRecon, Brad, I'd paint it Yellow with Red Caduceus or Modified Crosses with the Caduceus emblems in the middle.
1. It'll standout
2. There is noway it could be mistaken for an ambulance or Red Cross vehicle
3. Yellow and Red would be a great color scheme for Off-Road Trail Aid Station Vehicle(s).
Thank you. Very nice coffee chat. Following...
You are the best show in You tube, thank you again and again
Wow, thank you!
Next, make it amphib! I love the Glad!
So excited for this new build Brad! Amelia was the Jeep that drove me to purchasing a Gladiator and I’ve drawn a lot of inspiration for the build from your channel!
Hope to see you at shifts grand opening. I’ll be bringing a T shirt from the Chiefs Mess for you just incase!
i'm excited to see the build and the final ( if that's even possible to say-think) build . i still think a portable power system is probably better than solar-batteries-charger/inverter etc that will take up permanent space . you can take that in and out of the jeep depending on the situation . now obviously this is your vision , your dream so you do you. just a suggestion
For your rear area look at the DARCHE 180V. With the awning it would be a great addition. We have one on our adventure trailer.
Awesome and good luck
If you haven't already look into the Harker EDC camper. The rear opens in a way that lets you put the tailgate down and the canvas goes over the open tailgate, it gives you some extra room. Also lots of standing room in those.
Such a awesome admirable build in honoring our first responders very cool 👍👍❤️❤️❤️
My set up is a Jt with a A R E shell with two awnings both with walls...so I can have a whole huge room on both sides and the rear and then I sleep in the bed. I am old and I like to drink so sleeping in the bed instead of a RTT usually means no broken bones just bruises lol :)
Amazing 👏
I work with first responders and I really love this idea. As a Vet, I appreciate you honoring the past. Have you thought about a Super Pacific camper on it? They look really well built (like aircraft), have great storage options and will allow standing room in the bed when needing render aid. Keep up the awesome content!!
Thank you! The Super Pacific is a good camper, I'm planning on something a little more light weight and sleeker though.
You’re excited. We’re excited. This is going to turn out nice, fun, and highly functional. Cut my teeth with the ARC with water safety and lifeguard instruction. You never know what you will come across, where it will be, and under what conditions. Preparedness is part of our risk management strategies as adventurers.
😮😍😍super love it
A very cool project
The best suspension is the Teraflex JT extended Travel Systems, which gives 18 inches extended travel for the rear axle. Its reversed rear swaybar stops strikes by rocks, because the swaybar is up and out of the way. match that with the Falcon 3.3 piggyback shocks or the AEV Bilstein XP8100 reservoir shock. You should go to American Most wanted to get Dana 60 axles with 5:13 or 5.38 gearing with elockers, or go directly with Dana for your project. That will give you 38 to 40 inch tires, with a 4.5 inch lift and a ride that is the best on the market without going to triple bypass shocks with a shock tree welded into the frame.
Agree with your logical reasoning on the 392 and the Prickly Pear, got to keep the fleet manageable. Excited to see the Good Samaritan build out. 😂
The new build will be fantastic! I can't wait to follow along. I would sell both the 392 and Prickly Pear. Too many headaches and life is too short. Plus, you'll have more funds for this and other projects.
Man Brad - Just sitting here drinking my coffee with you and BAM - my heart breaks for you on the thought of letting the Prickly Pear go - but I fully understand (77' J-10 owner). Love your Trail-Aid-Station (TAS-manian Devil) plans and can't wait to see her come to life.
It's hard to let go of vehicles you've been excited about in the past. It comes down to what is the best, most practical direction. One thing has to override the other. Tough decisions, but it will work out as it should.
