Another great episode. I continue to go back in time to view old episodes. Different, original content with Scott’s incredibly pleasant radio voice as a big bonus. I’d buy any audiobook narrated by Scott 😄
This was one of your best! I love the matchbooks as entree into attractions and restaurants, etc. I also love The Magic Castle. My dad was a very amateur magician, not a member, but he would wrangle an invitation once a year or so and take some of our family. The last time I lived in L.A. briefly, in 2019, one of my roommates was a member and performer, and he had a group of us come as his guests. If I ever move back (🤞) I'll definitely find a way to get an invite! Thanks for another wonderful video!
The old matchbook covers are so cool. My Step Dad collected them too, but when he passed away my Mom threw them out. It was really cool seeing these places today, The Hip Hypnotist, I remember her from a couple of movies. If I remember correctly she is the lounge singer in the movie, Guess Whos Coming to Dinner. There is another, but Im drawing a blank right now. Your Nephews mind trick worked on me, that blew my mind, 👏👏👏!!! Great video, Scott, thank you!!! 👍👍
Hello from Brasil! I immediately clicked when the notification came. Another fabulous video. These are like mini documentaries. You have a gift of making those deceased alive again. Thank you.
Yes I love your voice too!! Back in the 70's we drove up twice from San Diego to Hollywood to see Rocky Horror and loved it! Of course had to do my obligatory stop at the old Tower Records on Sunset to stock up! Love your videos!!! (Marc Anthony Real).😍😍😍
I love your matchbook tours. I learn so many new things. I would have loved to have seen Miss Pat Collins. I like how you added the Lucy clip. The washing machine part was hilarious. Very interesting info. on The Magic Castle. The Monkey Island clip was great too. Loved it all!
I’m in street sales to restaurants for a Chicago based company. We quit stocking plain white match books even. Probably 5 years ago. As a kid my brother and I both collected them still in storage. I’ve got matchbooks from most of the Playboy Club locations as probably my favorites.
Cool! I knew people that would collect them, I wasn't a smoker then so didn't collect them, unless I thought they were cool. I think it's neat that they still have them! Nothing like free advertising - I'm pretty sure that was the name of the game when this concept was created (who came up with the consept in the first place?)
Another interesting vlog, thank you . I have a bad feeling about Monkey Island . Those poor critters were most likely used for medical experiments . I’ve always said, if some pharmas want to create their poisons , test it on the intended audience .
I had Halle on my flight when I was a flight attendant. She was in first class. All she drank was Diet Coke. When she deplaned, she turned around, looked in my eyes and said the most sincere thank you I have ever heard
I was a guest of Milt Larsen many times. A very kind man. Also many tv shows were filmed there and one of my favorite shows from the 1970’s Quincy which showed a lot of the interior. I even had a tour of Milt’s Houdini collection of his magical career.
Fantastic episode!! You bring these places alive! I truly appreciate it!! I am not able to travel, but I feel like I have every video I watch! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!❤
Awesome video Scott! In the Summer 2002 I was with my fiance doing the LA tourist thing when I had a celebrity "encounter". My fiance and I were at the Rainbow Club at 9PM and I was leaving the bathroom taking a left at the first turn and ran right into Ron Jeremy. Boom! Me and Ron Jeremy collided, apologized and I said: "Holy Crap, Ron Jeremy". He said yep and we parted ways.
That was an awesome video. Great for Halloween. Tell Nick he did a wonderful job on his part of ur video. Glad to see you back in your stomping grounds. Much love, :)
Fun stuff, Scott , The Lucy the episode which Pat Collins was on I just didn’t know at that time that she was famous………. It worked for me !!! Great job rascal!!😮 Kathy Dupont St.Augustine Fl.
Monkey Island was right next door to where Hanna-Barbera Productions would build their studio, and Joe Barbera used to crack jokes about its influence on their cartoons.
Hi Scott I heard you say ,”My book” I didn’t know you had written one what is the title? I looked on your website under merch & didn’t see anything. Can one find it on Amazon ? Thanks . Now that I have found you have a website I am going back to look around some more.
maybe you can find it in the budget bins somewhere - or Ebay! www.ebay.com/itm/374865376000?epid=2288790&hash=item5747b7b300:g:v8AAAOSwNYNf~sMQ&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8BERPc0tqkAbzR7md1TqeeNXtL8M7CNXLZ8taSd%2BbxKxZk90AMbXK3PQpVNoXr0R5%2BePHISxHRXAjUbSEp%2F9x7BCqNHr3wKwTCzveeZOrZi6ib0u84KNK62bWNrhazPmGOEDh2TDz3MyS12QSUctgp9mME51bK3NqJ4DddjrIrWXfZ2mpWR0Kt6GpoFWDhDiILAPqhVUSAdsrGdoiKS31RNtVn28pGBACv7J9f5C5n6LFYoENHB5Ld0N1V0xgysu318d%2BxcSllyPFYYXA5A9rFEjmc1nKG8bH%2Brv5be0N%2BTokywkbw7IZEVmY6kfkmsMkg%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR7qjyr_hYg
Scott: I guess you did not have Showtime OR HBO in the 1980s. Pat Collins had what seemed like yearly specials early to mid early 1980s . The early days of HBO and Showtime had some "wonky " specials back then; Totie Fields had one and I think Kaye Ballard had one. 1979/80 ?
How on earth does Neil Patrick Harris worm his way into a Magic Castle spot!? Jeez, stop giving him money / attention / fame . Give it to someone with more integrity - like Ellen DeGeneres or the Kardashians.
The matchbook keeps me singing Loving You Has Made Me Bananas!!!😂 🎼 your red scarf 🧣 matches your eyes, you closed your cover before striking…😂 Been a huge fan for years Sir, and just love your videos and more importantly you! Thank you for the years of great entertainment, online and in person! Godspeed
Scott's nephew has a great speaking voice and is so interesting just like his uncle!
Thank you!
@@NickPaulMagic You are so welcome!❤
Great video. Your nephew is very impressive - talented and articulate. Loved his history of Magic Castle. Neat magic trick! Rascal is adorable!
Thanks for having me uncle Scott!

Pat Collins show had a big part in the Debbie Reynolds/Dick Van Dyke film "Divorce American Style." Filmed (I do believe) at her club.
The Magic Castle was featured in Clive Barker’s 1995 classic, Lord of Illusions. Thanks, Scott, great video as always!!

Always a treat to watch your matchbooks videos Scott! I also enjoyed your nephew’s magic trick! 😊
The Northwoods inn that's in San Gabriel actually still has matchbooks at the bar.

I wonder what happened to all the monkees! What an interesting and wierd place!
I believe only Mickey Dolenz is still alive...

Great magic trick ! It worked for me.
I went to the Hip Hypnosis years ago, I was just talking about that show.
The Northwoods at Huntington and Rosemead is going strong, along with the Galley next door.
Monkey Island was right next door to where Hanna-Barbera Productions would build their studio, and Joe Barbera used to crack jokes about its influence on their cartoons.
Been to North Woods Inn many times. Great video.

Great pizza at the Rainbow.
I loved watching your nephew! Does he have a channel on YT and would you consider sharing his link? Just interested in subbing, not a stalker, haha!
