    Brother, I have been on that trail and the fact that you did the steps with such precision on that beast of a bike, proves that you are a skillful rider. What happened when you took your eyes off the line, has happened to all who have ridden for a while. Much respect to you sir.

    wow. I've watched a lot of videos of folks coming down that trail, and even with your title warning me, my heart skipped a beat as you dropped over the edge. Sure glad you are OK

    I've ridden that a few times. Folks commenting are not understanding how steep that is. Glad you're OK!

    You were really lucky to walk away from that mate. But i must say it took some balls to do that track on a bike that size

    Precisely why I sold my 890 for a 500 excf. This is hell. Once you drop your bike several times at 12,000+ feet it starts to suck beyond belief. Glad you're okay

    Was there in July the same year on the same bike (but mine was a DCT). Went fast where you were slow and slow were you were fast. I also dropped it once on the trail after stopping to help recover an FJ40 on that same corner that was wheels up. I had parked and walked down and I hit a big rock while doing a rolling start side mount. I'm only 5'4", so I wasn't about to try getting it off the stand while seated. Luckily it didn't go over like yours and suffered no damage thanks to the crash bars.

    Been there, done that on a DRZ about three months ago. Fortunately, it was not on Black Beat Pass, but simply 12-15 feet off a two track road over the bank. You are right about dragging the bike up the bank over the ground. I got off easy on that score with some scratches and a lost tool can. Used a stuffed duffel bag to minimize the "scratches".

      Surprisingly just some fairing damage on the left side. I checked it over and was able to ride on. But without the winch there, an insurance claim indeed.

    Oh i cringed so bad watching yall winch that pretty twin backwards and on its side back up the hill i dont know why a couple of yall didnt climb down and pick it back onto its wheels before dragging it back up

    • @LostInADV
      @LostInADV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ya, I said the same thing. At the time I thought any attempt to lift the bike meant more possibility for the bike to take off, I was just happy there was a Jeeper willing to help. That hill was really steep. Looking back at it maybe I could have straightened the bike when the rope was tight. Although with that angle I'm not sure it would have been doable. That sound was ear shattering though, damn it hurt to watch too.

    • @cariq7112
      @cariq7112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. Put IT back on Wheels and drag it up. Two at the bike and one with good hands at the winch. And by the way....it was the second you were looking up to the other Rider...hard school you had to go through. Keep on ridin' man!

    The video just before with two guys on CRF 450’s kept saying wouldn’t want to do this on anything bigger, too much of a handful. I was thinking 250’s might be better, lighter and more nimble.

    • @LostInADV
      @LostInADV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Surprisingly no mechanical damage. The left fairing is beat up, the tank has a few dings and dents, the left mirror broke off, and the left signal broke. I bought DoubleTake mirrors and just plasti-welded the signal back in place. I was so lucky I could ride home. Listening to the bike get winched up was a crying pain though.
