Thank you for highlighting how hard it is to have a puppy. So many people end up returning them because they underestimate the time and exercise they need! Congrats on your new best friend!
6:30 I was stressed when I got my pup 4 years ago and I didn’t sleep well for weeks. But thankfully my family helped me. Just patience and love that helps pull through ❤
Unfortunately this was my sister and her family. Got 2 beagle puppies and put zero time into them. They spent their days either in their indoor kennel or their outdoor run. Then got mad at them when they became wild untrained heathens. Ended up rehoming them after 6 months. I really hope the family that ended up with them are doing those 2 girls justice. They deserved so much more than my sisters family gave them.
@@anmichele3829 I have two beagles myself that we adopted as pups, so I definitely know how chaotic it can get! I hope they’re in a good home now and getting the love they deserve. They’re such sweet, affectionate dogs.
I cried so much when I bought my puppy home 15 years ago. She passed away aged just under 13 a couple of years back, and I can safely say she was my best friend in the world. The puppy blues faded fairly quickly and though it was soo hard as a pup, she soon settled in to just the most wonderful dog I could ask for ❤ so glad you gave this disclaimer!
I just came across this video. Never usually comment but I have a 1 year old Toller named River! The puppy stage was hard (especially with those shark teeth) and there are times the teenage stage can be just as hard but 100% worth all of it. I can’t imagine my life without her!
Ahhh cuteness overload! Also I just Wanted to say thank you for making sure you talk about the fact that Puppies are not easy, although they are adorable!❤❤❤
I absolutely love this breed! I can't wait to see her grow up. I just got a new puppy and went through severe Puppy Blues. I totally understand what you're going through. You got this!
Congrats! Such an exciting day and she’s absolutely precious! Seeing the basket of toys you’ve made for her leads me to a confession. My precious old English sheepdog died late 2019, and I cannot remove her toy basket from our living room. I’ve tried, but I see her favorite plushie (“Sir Quacks-a-lot”) that she carried all over, inside and out, and I just can’t.
I have two tollers and they are so clever bright intelligent.. the best well behave dogs we have ever had.. I will alway have a toller in my life.. they are so easy to train, both my dogs walk of the lead and never leave my side, they wait for my command to go off.. alway come back on one command.. great dogs to have in your life
She’s beautiful! I’ve raised 3 Border Collies and an Aussie, it’s life changing for sure. It all will be routine before you know. She’s a lucky girl to get you as a mom. Looking forward to seeing her grow.
I love puppy socialising its so much fun! So many things to see and types of people and objects. Types if flooring etc. I'm fortunate that in all of the puppies I have raised I have never experienced puppy blues. For me its such a joyful time. Though I will admit that I think it's easier when you have an older dog for them to also learn from. River is adorable and the hard work will pay off before you know it.
A couple weeks into getting our first rescue I was full on Trisha paytas style crying on the kitchen floor cs I was totally overwhelmed and frustrated. I did expect training to be so difficult but prior to coming to us she hadn’t even lived in a house, let alone had to take orders from a human 😅 so it was tough, she’s still stubborn, but yes don’t worry it does get easier. River is adorable 🥰
I think I’d find an older dog who’s already learnt so much about life and having to relearn more difficult 😞 I guess after 3 weeks as well their true personalities and struggles start to come out once they’ve settled
Welcome to the puppy club, you love them but they are exhausting, just go with the flow especially when they are unvaccinated but you are doing amazingly well! I've had my Jack Russell puppy for a 2 and a half months now and I had my rescue dog since she was a puppy (she is 4 years old now) and it definitely gets easier! My 4 year old dog I trained on my own when she was a puppy, she was my first puppy and didnt realize just HOW MUCH genetics play into it- she is a heinz 57 dog with genetic issues and behaviour issues that I blame on her genetics. She was incredibly difficult to train and it was months of tears and frustrations. With my pure bred, health and temperament tested JRT puppy, he is SOOOOO much easier, it literally took 2 weeks to feel like everything was kind of normal, training has been going perfectly, he has the best personality, he is so sociable and loving (as much as a terrier can be haha). To make sure that my 4 year old dogs personality doesn't play off of my Jack puppy, I sent him away for a little over a month to Board-and-train, which has been the best decision on the planet. Congratulations on your new puppy! she is gorgeous! Seems like you got her from a great breeder and I'm sure you wont have many bad moments with her!

I’ve never been alive and not had a dog honestly the hardest part is the separation anxiety and night time. It’s really emotionally hard when your puppy is just freaking out and crying when you leave, you feel so bad, I use to work in a preschool and I honestly don’t know how parents do it all the time when their kids freak out and cry and scream for them when they leave, cause that’s what puppies do and it’s extremely hard emotionally. Every time I’ve had a puppy I put a mattress down on the floor and sleep with them every night cause they’ll wake up constantly and freak out that you’re not their and the crying will wake you up CONSTANTLY. Even if you sleep with them they’ll still constantly wake you up by crawling on you or getting in your face. My last puppy I got in the winter time and he’d constantly want outside in the middle of night so I would take him out to go pee and most of the time it’d take about 5 to 10 minutes for him finally to decide to pee and a lot of the times he’d just want outside to sit out there and look outside so I’d have to get up CONSTANTLY throughout the night in winter in my pajamas in the freezing cold. You also constantly have to be with your puppy, it’s honestly like having a baby. Personally I love taking care of puppies it’s why I also love taking care of babies, I love to take care of things and to be depended on so personally I love it though.
hey, i just got my pup about 2 months ago (he's a mini groodle) some tips: dont worry with puppy pads-they end up eating them and can become dangerous for chocking, instead we use them to clean up the wee, that basket you put toys in is also a great toy ;) and also put vix vapour rub anything you dont want chewed (things like retic and chair legs, also for some reason they like licking walls-but dont put it on there as it WILL stain), if she gets stung by a bee she can have human claryntine/antihistamine (BUT NOT PANADOL OR NEUROPHEN AS THERE LIVER CANT PROCESS IT) also start leaving her about day 3, literally for half an hour or so, it really is so so good to start leaving asap, dont worry she'll be fine-just leave her in a playpen-and another tip for socialisation, stand in your front yard with her on a lead to watch traffic and other doggos pass (this works so great)-i also recommend taking her to like a hardware store and have her in the trolley, you van do this when shes not vaccinated
I just got the news, yesterday, that my Toller puppy was born and I will get her in February and here you are in my TH-cam feed this morning so I subscribed to your channel 😊
Why is your house so freaking adorable!? ❤❤❤❤❤:O I also think u live on the same estate as me! From what I’ve seen outside and thru windows! It rlly looks like it!
Oh my goodness River is just adorable.😍 When it comes to rescue dogs alot of ppl overlook ex racing greyhound's obviously from a good rescue that do things right. I'd recommend Grace of Guisborough where I got my boy from. Hes the gentlest dog ive ever met, he loves everyone including my old Jack russell terrier. And he'd rather snooze than walk or run x
I also have health issues- several autoimmune conditions and chronic pain- and I have had to resolve myself to the fact that I cannot handle puppies anymore. We have instead adopted 3 adult dogs from breeders that needed to place adults for various reasons ( a Saint Bernard, a Newfoundland and a Leonberger). This has been such a blessing as they are much less work as adults but I am still getting to bring home healthy well bred dogs from good breeders I trust. And actually it has resulted in me getting me getting my dogs far quicker than if I had to wait for a puppy to be born! Just a thought for you in the future or someone else who might be wanting to get a well bred dog but not up to the prospect of a puppy.
I said I wouldn’t get a puppy again but to train an assistance dog it’s really important to be able to control their socialisation period as it sets them up for the rest of their life! It’s definitely difficult though
She's adorable, massive congrats! Puppies can definitely be rough, my lurcher was a nightmare as a puppy (very mouthy and jumpy and would throw full on tantrums if told "no", I think I spent the first year looking like I'd been wrestling the local wildlife) but it's so rewarding too. Are you intending to show much of your training journey with her? I'm autistic and am considering trying to train an assistance dog in the future, as currently I don't leave the house on my own and at some point that's going to stop being viable. I think it would be very useful to follow your journey with this if it's something you're comfortable doing.
I probably will share a bunch on her Instagram! It depends how it goes I’ve heard the community can be quite judgemental and toxic over every little thing which may encourage me to keep more of it to myself but for now I’ve been sharing a fair bit!
@@Emiology Oof, that explains why I've been struggling to find much. Definitely not worth dealing with that kind of behaviour, thank you for being open to sharing as much as you already have and enjoy your sweet pup :)
@@CrestedNeut If you look at my following list on River's instagram account I follow a few other assistance dog owners already and i believe a few of them are assistance dogs for autism, you've also got the facebook group 'assistance and service dogs uk - owner trained' which has people posting about their experiences :)
She’s so cute !! I thought you had mentioned in an earlier video that you wouldn’t get a dog ?? As you already had a house full of other animals-She’s so cute-Wish she was mine-such a lovely cute little puppy !!😊
Yea,it was a fair while back, but I’ve since seen another video(about 6months old)about your reasons for getting a dog-including them helping you with your disability !
I would like to say if anyone is considering a dog as a pet and has done their research, I highly recommend rescue greyhounds if you don't have loads of time to exercise them but really want a dog. They sleep so much of the day, and generally only need about 2x 20 minute walks a day (although some greyhounds are different, mine likes a 2h walk from time to time) the only thing you need to be cautious about is that you can't really walk them off the lead because of their high chase-drive, but lovely animals if you're new to dog ownership, and I don't usually see them considered:)
I'm curious how does your Toller get along with your cat? Does she chase the cat or are they co-existing? I'm thinking about getting a NSDTR but I don't want them to chase my 3 cats. Is there any advice you could give?
She does chase him 🫠 I’ve worked on a ‘leave it’ cue since she came home and it works most of the time to call her away from bothering him, the cat has learnt that running makes it worse and for a while she mostly ignored him but now that she’s bigger she’s started wanting to chase him again so it’s something we’re really having to work on
Is he with other rats? Does he get on with them? How old is he? Is it a recent change in his behaviour, or has he always been like that? It's difficult to help without more information. If you don't think it is anything to do with his current living conditions, you should take him to the vets x
Thank you for highlighting how hard it is to have a puppy. So many people end up returning them because they underestimate the time and exercise they need! Congrats on your new best friend!

Omg she is sooo cute
She's a cutie!
❤️❤️❤️
For the algorithm and for the chill vibes.
Your puppy is so cute too. 🥰
She’s so cute !!
I thought you had mentioned in an earlier video that you wouldn’t get a dog ??
As you already had a house full of other animals-She’s so cute-Wish she was mine-such a lovely cute little puppy !!😊
Nope! I’ve not said that in a video before, unless it was a few years ago when we weren’t living in our own house 😊
Yea,it was a fair while back, but I’ve since seen another video(about 6months old)about your reasons for getting a dog-including them helping you with your disability !
Aa I think I’m the first to comment! Love your videos
My sister has one, they are the best, never bitten anyone in 13 years
Yay my question was first 😄💗
I would like to say if anyone is considering a dog as a pet and has done their research, I highly recommend rescue greyhounds if you don't have loads of time to exercise them but really want a dog.
She does chase him 🫠 I’ve worked on a ‘leave it’ cue since she came home and it works most of the time to call her away from bothering him, the cat has learnt that running makes it worse and for a while she mostly ignored him but now that she’s bigger she’s started wanting to chase him again so it’s something we’re really having to work on
I’m trying to get a Nova Scotia myself! Where did you find yours? Can you please recommend good breeders? Thank you! ❤
She’s from Arthundur Tollers, the toller breed club in your country will have a puppy coordinator who can recommend you breeders 😊
Omg I love the rug you have at 2:42! Could you by any chance tell me where you got it?
It’s a piece of vet bed 😊
@@Emiology Thank you!
The eyes can also turn into light or dark brown
What phone case is that? I’ve been looking for one with the sliding camera protector for ages and I can’t find any
I’ll DM you the link if I can find it 😊
I have the same breed!
More dog videos in the future please 😂
i have same
Lol I thought I was the only person who knew about this breed. I have a cotón de tulear, anyone heard of those?
Hey i need help because my rat is staying in the corner of his cage and he is not leaving please help I HOPE YOU SEE THIS!
Is he with other rats? Does he get on with them? How old is he? Is it a recent change in his behaviour, or has he always been like that? It's difficult to help without more information. If you don't think it is anything to do with his current living conditions, you should take him to the vets x
@@eleanorabbott8448 is is a few weeks old I got him a few days ago and he has never done this and I can't afford taking him to the vet
@@eleanorabbott8448 GOOD NEWS he's exploring and he not staying in that corner anymore
Ah that's good to hear. He might just be shy. I hope that he has the company of another rat? 😊 Otherwise he will get depressed
@@eleanorabbott8448 he has other rats to spent time with
I've seen people use wagons as a way to take their puppy around to see the sights and be socialized to the world without being exposed to disease!
Luckily I think she will be just light enough for me to carry her until she’s vaccinated!
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO LIVE MY DREAM
AHH
