    I have one! Mine doesn’t almost bark and is veryvery friendly. She isn’t aggressive at all but at the same time is a very good housekeeper to let you know of all of the weird noises and so on. She runs really fast and likes to play and run a lot. She wants to be with people and sleep next to them. Also they listen very well! But they don’t need so much cleaning and stuff in my opinion. They are really clean dogs. They have also a really soft fur! Overall a really good dog to have!

    i have a male toller and hes about to turn 11. he shows no signs of slowing down other than increased napping times. he is very smart and sometimes too smart for his own good lol. theyre a very hearty breed and we have had him hunting with us in colder temperatures with no problems.

    I have 2 Tollers - a 3.5-year-old male and a 5-month-old male. Both very smart, very independent and curious! My older is more submissive and very gentle, but my younger one is more dominant and very feisty (so far, hehe). My older Toller is a licenced therapy dog (something that many don't believe from the "crazy energetic" breed) and loves children so, so much! The puppy is still young so we don't know for sure how he will be with children, but he sure loves them and it seems if the "baby shark" phase is over, he will also be a wonderful buddy for all children. Oh, and about the scream! My older one has always been a quiet one - the scream has only happened in agility class or somewhere where he sees other dogs have fun and he can not join. But that's trainable and we have our ways to distract him now. And seeing people dive into water or make splashes also makes him scream sometimes, hehe. My younger one hasn't screamed, BUT he is vocal - some barking and whining is an everyday thing. We have 2 cats so since he is still a puppy and hasn't learned yet (like my older Toller), he still chases them from time to time and barks at them.

    • @HelenMarts
      @HelenMarts 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh, about the cuddling! My older Toller does not like cuddling - he will allow it from time to time, but he would choose to be not in someone's hands. He likes belly rubs and scratches, but he is the opposite of a cuddler. The 5-month-old is the biggest cuddler ever, though! It is thanks to his breeder - she worked on the puppies being human-oriented and cuddly from day 1.

      Count your lucky stars! If he/she starts, don't encourage it! My sister and thought it was funny as kids to wind up our family Toller and quite frankly it's almost embarrassing to go to the beach with her now 😱 I can't send a video here but Google Toller scream and you'll get it😉 It sounds as if we're trying to put her through a woodchipper... I now have her daughter and I've learned my lesson. Also if you want to enter any kind of hunting competitions with a Toller and it reacts to excitement with either barking or screaming (at least in Norway) it'll get you disqualified. Also it's a bit counterproductive when actually hunting 😂

      Im not from india but a other person in these coments wrote about a toller that used to live in india but got adopted (for other reazons then weather) so i think ur good but maby do an extra google search just to be sure. Sad is that the breed was almost exstinct. It was tried to save it but in this way many related dogs gave birth. Some people say that there are less than 30 novia scotias in the world which are not related. The relationship between some of these dogs is about 26% which is more related than siblings.

    • @NRProductionss

    • @NRProductionss
      @NRProductionss 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Max-lf6hx it must be less of a problem in the UK. Looking at all my breeders registered dogs with the kennel club shows non over 5%. with the breed average is 1.6%...don't know why it would be any different in the UK than anywhere else.

    • @NRProductionss
      @NRProductionss 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Max-lf6hx also just checked my tollers inbreeding coefficient and it's 0.4% (I was wrong about his mum she was 1.1%). There's definitely tollers out there that are very low on the inbreeding coefficient. For example, the labrador has an average inbreeding coefficient of 6.6% and that's an insanely popular breed in the UK.

    I have 1,5y old toller and she is active, friendly and loooves kids. With this breed you have to work and exercise with them a lot. Obedience training is must have. This breed is not sure for lazy persons, they keep you busy and if they are not tired enough they whine or bring you toys. Mine screams when she is very exited or for snow shovel etc.

    It was over thirty years ago we saw a toller while camping in a park in Nova Scotia. Very shortly after, we came to own Ben. He was a beautiful, wonderful dog. He was a very handsome dog and knew it. I was known to people in our town as Ben's owner. Quite clever -he would walk off leash by your side and sit-stay outside post office while I would go in, although a passing squirrel would occasionally be too much temptation. He liked to be doing things with people but never fawning. Didn't particularly like swimming but loved to go out in a canoe, He has been gone nearly twenty years and I still miss the guy>

    Gracie was with us nearly sixteen years and had excellent health until the very last few months of her life. Even then, she remained active, going on a short walk with me the night before she passed away.
    Gracie never "screamed" though "talked" frequently, occasionally punctuating a sentence with a short yip. Other than that, she barked only a couple of times a year and then only to alert us to something.
    We suffered a great sense of loss with her death.
    We are now contacting breeders about getting another toller. We know there can never be another Gracie, but we have heard so many comments about tollers being affectionate and incredibly interesting that we greatly want another.
    Comments in the video are well taken regarding locating breeders who are ethical and have the best interest of their puppies in mind. This is not a quick process. Most reputable breeders will question you about how you anticipate taking care of the puppy once you adopt it.
    Please understand that getting a toller is not merely getting a "dog." Tollers are a commitment -- and usually a long commitment; Gracie was nearly sixteen when she died. You will need to invest time and energy with your toller. On the positive side, you will be abundantly rewarded.
    Owing to their intelligence, tollers make fine therapy dogs and companion animals. Be sure they get lots of exercise, however.

    We just got ours since mid-February. JJ Moose, a meanwhile 15 week young male, coming from the Targaryen Kennel. Mom is a gorgeous little lady called Ellaria and Dad is Bruno from Estonia. A strong and beautiful dad. Both parents are first parents giving birth to 9 offspring. Moose is a super clever and absorbs his knowledge like a sponge. He started barking two weeks ago. His screaming started earlier. Screaming occurs whenever he has to wait for his food (to cool down for instance). Or whenever he's overly active (playing ball is an excellent reason).

      I tend to always get from shelters or at least rescue dogs. My last rescue didn't come from a shelter but would've ended up in one if it wasn't for me. Was such a sad story and just heart break I'm breaking my rules and getting from a breeder for my next dog. Want one as a puppy I can make sure never has a frwction of abuse or the other stuff in their life. Did get another rescue puppy recently but even her she came from abuse and a messed up situation.
      Female got a female cane corso cause her neighbor had a male stud dog. Stud dog isn't contained properly. And the females owner clearly has never owned such a breed, supposedly a temperamental fault female but more likely fully suppresses guardian instincts and not enough confidence boosting. Anyways stud dog broke out his yard and went and mated the female. The stud dogs owner broke in to the other ladies yard when she was at work and used sheers to cut off the puppies tails in a back yard or after sneaking in through a doggy door or some shit. May never heal properly and she may end up permanently with a small bit of exposed bone in her tail.

    Great video, I've seen many but mistook them for a mixed breed. I wanted to let you know that "crimson" is blood red amigo, Buff/Tawney/liver and some other like golden or coppery. I don't fault you at all, clearly you're creating videos in a second or third languid! I lived in Austria and can still speak their brand of German, but learning to read and write was much harder for me, so I applaud you!

    I have two tollers. I love them. One is quiet at home but not so much when working. The other is very barky. Love them both very much not the barking so much tho. One, if she perceives a threat will alert and hide behind you. The other will check it out. Both are trained and excel in multi-sports. Agility, Nosework, Sprinters, Dockdiving, Updog (frisbee) to name a few. Great dogs. I was recommended to breeders and expect to wait a year to two years for a dog. Choose your breeder carefully. I have heard and seen some not-so-great breedings. Totally worth the wait!

    Our very first Duck Toller, Red. th-cam.com/video/ZE3h-ExJeDA/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared. Everything in this video is true, although raising one and discovering his traits are such a joy! Red is very smart and quite independent. He is a dog that would not hesitate 0:14 to go after what he wants. Including escaping to next door to play with her female puppy friend, Mocha, the Rottweiler. (He has been doing that almost everyday now). He is friendly, and food motivated. Easy to train as long as you are consistent. Red’s scream is very unique, and it makes him sound like a drama queen. We love our Duck Toller!

    I had a toller when I was a teenager and I caught her in the back yard playing with something, shaking it around in her mouth. I realized it was rabbit she had and I had to chase her around the yard for like 10 minutes before I could catch her and get her to drop the rabbit. The poor thing was trying to play dead but it was also breathing so frantically I couldn't possibly mistake it for dead. WHen I went back out it was gone.
    Another time at a yatch club she had gotten away from us and we were looking all over, looking at the swimming rock and up the road and everything, but we eneded up finding her in the Barbecue Pit chasing chipmunks.
    So yeah careful with your tollers and wild animals.

    Hi i am wanting to get a dog and i am especially looking at the Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever.
    I have never owned a dog before, however I have some experience.
    If you take your time to answer this it will mean much:
    - is the breed they easy to train
    - is it good family dog
    - is it good with other pets
    - is it shy towards strangers?
    - is it good guard dog
    - can it stay home alone for about 7 hours?
    - is it good first time dog?
    If u can say something extra that will be nice and have a great day too

    • @jay38869
      @jay38869 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      staying home for 7 hours pretty sure not maby max 1 to 2 hours so maby there is another breed that can stay home alone for that long but honestly 7 hours maby think about getting another pet in general. For the other things -yes they are eazy to train.
      -good family dogs not sure maby a bit too energetic around kids.
      -good with other pets depends on how well you socialize them but they are verry smart so pretty sure that with the right training and socialisation its fine. good guard dog, not sure debateble but if you really want a guard dog keep looking for another breed maby.
      -good first time dog depends on if ita the right dog for you.
      -this info comes from my reasearch on the internet.

      Do not get a dog if your plan is to leave the dog at home alone for 7 hours. Just don't.

      Hey Emily! Is your grandma expecting a litter for february/march?

    • @Emily-lp8ku
      @Emily-lp8ku 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patogarza1305 Yes! Next month! But you will need to look her up on Facebook or something and drive to her house. You will also need to have your parents call her and ask her for a puppy. The puppy’s are not born but the mom Shima is pregnant. We are not sure how many puppy’s there are going to be so you might not get a dog. There is a whole proses in getting a dog to look it up, ask your parents, and be patient. Usually she breeds them in the summer at their lake house and I get to see all of my favorite puppies go but since it is winter they will die if they are out in the cold so we are breeding them in there house in Penfield. Just ask me if you have any other questions. And if you do get one from her, you might see me and my family when you get your dog!

    $1700? Expensive? Bruh, if you find a dog at $1700 (from a breeder) I'd be extra careful in watching their practices. I don't know much about smaller breeds, but I'm in a wait list for a white Swiss shepherd and that's $3000... I've been told this is the average for most breeds but maybe smaller dogs require less food, hence a lower price? Either way, make sure the breeding practices are right... even if they're expensive, actually. But idk, $1700 raises a red flag to me

    • @MrNukedawhales
      @MrNukedawhales ปีที่แล้ว

      1700$ is pretty reasonable, which you may find, if you google it. in my country - germany - the average price is 1500€ ... which is roughly the same. pretty sure you will find offers for 3000$ too. these are the "high-end versions" for breeding - if the dog fits the "standards" perfectly, its more expensive, than - lets say - it has the "wrong" colour or wrong measurements.
      secondly you have to take into account the amount of money spent by the breeder on e.g. vet checks (e.g. disease checks, genetics checks), chipping etc. which can add up pretty quickly and prices may vary depending on what the breeder does or doesnt do.
      and finally... white swiss shepards are expensive compared to other dog breeds.
