Your panel is what all panels should be: functional and neat. Doesn't hurt that it's pleasing to the eye. IMHO, a lot of builders think "airliner" style panels - dual everything - lands them in the Cool Kid's Club. Well, I spent more than three decades behind airliner instrument panels. Yes, there were occasional scans of the opposite seat's instruments to verify/cross-check with your own. But, I never "needed" the instruments in the opposite seat. For my RV-14 project I'll be going with one PFD/MFD (Garmin GX3) in front of left seat, and a removable iPad on the right side of the instrument panel running ForeFlight. I just can't see needing more than that, but that's me.

For your taxi camera, are you using Dynon's video input adapter? When I spoke with them recently, they commented that there is still some software development work required before complete HDX integration. I'd appreciate your comments. Keep up the great work for those of us coming up behind you in the build process.
Yes sir, it’s kinda on standby until they get that feature back working again. It’s on the list of things they are working on, so I’m confident they will figure that out soon. I just left it unplugged back there ready once they drop the software update that resolves the issues.

Not gonna lie. It’s clean and the install looks fantastic but aesthetically it’s too busy with graphics, font and colors. Looks more like a “Sema” build than an aircraft build. But to each their own. Cheers🍻

No sir, everything firewall forward I made or bought separate. You are correct, they don’t encourage engines outside of ones they have tested which I suppose I can understand if you look at it from their side of the fence.
Why not have the display set up with an autodim feature? I think it would bug me to constantly be futzing with that
It’s an option built in but I find that I like things dimmer than most folks at night so I wanted control
@@Project2Aero hmm... Could you set up the lever as a rheostat to tweak the base? Or is that basically what it does already? Also, I'm curious why you have a switch for so many functions when a pdm could, theoretically, be programmed to do a lot of that automatically.
@@Jazz3006 yes that pretty much what it is doing. The pdm is controlling all of it, the dimmers and keypad are simply input variables for it
How did you set up the keypad button to reset tripped circuits? Last I looked, reset only works with a physical input pin. I have considered jumping from a keypad-controlled output right back into the designated reset input pin, but didn't look too far into that.
Just set the “global reset” to the can keypad button status of your choice
@@Project2Aero Huh, going to have to look again! I swear the last time I looked, only physical input pins were listed as options, but there have been a couple firmware updates since then. Of course, I've already drilled a hole for a momentary reset button. :)
@@jefish Could be man, I am running the most current version of software for both the pdm and the programming software. It’s kind of a pain since your current settings won’t switch over to the new version so take good notes on your current setup since you’ll need to put in all in again. Works like a champ though👍
Some firmware updates have kept my config, others have wiped it. Weird. But restoring from the saved file on the laptop always seems to work.
I'm currently trying to engrave my own text onto the blank inserts I got from Blink. Getting the laser to JUST take off the black paint but leave the white paint below is a real challenge. Either there are flecks of black remaining, or it drills all the way through and exposes the clear plastic. Wish they'd made the inserts from white plastic with black paint on top. But I'll keep trying, since I think DARs are twitchy about icon-only labeling.

Y’all take notice how professionals don’t rely on zipties! Learn to tie lace cord. Waxed and unwaxed for those heated areas.

Less risk of chafing damage to the wiring, less risk of slicing your wrist open when you're working on the panel if the zip-tie isn't trimmed properly, lighter, less risk of damaging the wires if you need to cut the tie to add to the bundle or pull a wire from it....too many benefits to mention. Lacing is the way to go. Don't know how? Read it in the bible (AC 43.13).
