Have had the ole tow truck sitting for over a year for the exact issue you're describing. Just haven't gotten around to giving her the time. I think you've definitely started me in the right direction. Thank you sir 🤙🏻
@@O.G.fightclub PSOM was my problem. Noticed speedometer would stop working intermittently a coulpe times a year followed by O/D turning off. A sharp flick on the front of the clear plastic would bring it back on. There's a guy on e b a y that refurbishes speedometers for these trucks.
Great video. My F250 has begun to shift hard. Just wondering if you could you have cleaned out the valve body from the debris could avoided buying a new one,,,or you can't replace the seal around the plug? Just wondering? Other than the seal was there any other damage to the valve body?
Just installed a used e 4od worked great now transmisssion is really slow engaging when cold and it not as bad when warmed up no burnt fluid yet pan was damaged due to forks on loader im thinking. Filter was crushed no other visable damage inside lights flashing reverse was awsome then this happend
@@FloridaCrackerKustoms I installed a new filter kit and an undamaged pan before install I changed the pcm awhile ago and this was before tranny swap it went from shifting normal to slamming into gear and shifting hard in all years and seamed like long time before shifting like under hard eccelaration so I swapped it back then that's when I lost the tranny that was in it before that was tranny 2 the one I'm dealing with now is number three vthecoriginal tranny had issues leaking fluid out of torque converter sale on pump that was a vent clogged up issue and got that all fixed and then lost a planetary and shield for first gear am I getting these issues because of the not being reset pcm I'll try that today and blowing out the radiator and cooler and lines maybe clogged and I got a parts tranny think I'll test and inspect shift solenoid pack and I' may just change it out and witch valve body controls reverse gear
I have a 1997 F250 with E4OD transmission. Changed fluid and filter. Started up hard shift 1 and 2. Speedometer either not working or jumping erratic. Will not shift to 3rd or 4th. New Vehicle speed sensor made it worse. Sounds like my problem may be the shift solenoid. I would rather just try a new one for what it would cost just to have a shop look at it. Thanks for the video.
Awesome video. I have 92 f150 5.0 2wd e4od stuck in over drive the red wires feeding the mlps to power the shift solenoids are not getting power from the fuse box. Replaced relay tested it. Checked all the fuses. Any ideas why else?
The tone rings go bad on the axle too that was my problem id clean tge whole axle out too if you replace that if your speedo is jumping or hopping around its likely that if the speed sensor didn't work
I just picked up an old farm truck (1990 F-150 with a 4.9L A/T). The guy told me that it slipped in O/D and a little in drive, so he found it easiest to manually shift when that happens. Yes, it does "slip", if you can call it that. It just either goes into the next gear, or it doesn't. It may or may not kick into overdrive3, and it doesn't like to downshift, so yeah I guess it's "slipping". I can wrench a good bit, but I know almost nothing about the inner workings of a tranny (I've never worked on one or worked in a tranny shop). I took it to a dealer for a post-purchase inspection emphasizing the transmission slipping, and that's all that was reported on. They told me that there was a sensor that was corroded from both sides that needed to be replaced, and they recommended that they drop the pan and inspect for metal shavings as a precaution - for around $1,400. I thought for sure, I was going to need to replace the tranny or just sell the truck. After a little searching and finding this "sensor" they were talking about, I realized that the pan has to come off to get to the "sensor" that I now know is the solenoid. So, it looks like I'll be replacing the "sensor" myself, and saving SEVERAL hundred dollars (and gaining some experience for my time). And this is all thanks to videos like this! Thanks for the content, and you got yourself another subscriber.
I think that’s what I gotta do too, been procrastinating but driving this minivan doesn’t embarrass me anymore I don’t like what that might mean I need to get my truck back
Man I got a 92 4x4 had it parked on a hill and now park won’t rev up no reverse neutral is drive till 2nd and drive shifts out fine. Any ideas what happened?
HOW do I get the shift solenoid pack out? Mine was difficult and the electrical connector disconnected from the pack and is still stuck in the transmission housing. How is that supposed to come apart?
I have a 94 bronco E40D got fully rebuilt took it back to the shop 5 times now the trans oil keeps getting hot and smells horrible. Replaced radiator ans trans limes fresh fluids and after like 1 long day driving it starts to smell really bad mechanic says the oil.is getting hot and recommending a transmission cooler. What's your opinion on this issue I'm having any help is good help
Ay make mistake to put year 92 on 91 it does not have the speedometer sensor i did sospect it might be a problem but i have seme problems no power taking of on D i have to do 2d after that/45 miles
Those transmissions also hate big tires with the wrong gear ratio in the rear axles. My transmission would keep shifting weird when a I first put larger than stock tires on it.

Thanks bro. Competent and straightforward. Sounds like my problem to a TEE.
Thank you, hope you get your issue fixed. Best of luck 🤙🏻
Curious if yours had the same solution. This sounds exactly like my problem as well. Was yours also a bad solenoid pack?

I'll be tearing into mine soon, saving these for later

I’d definitely check that filter

Check your fuses if you haven't already
What fuse are we looking for?
Good place to start! Thanks for the info!
Thanks, just ordered a psom on ebay to replace/troubleshoot.

Man, if I can fix my truck for under 20$ and five minutes, I’m bring you a brisket, some moonshine and mushrooms. I throw in some smoked tuna too.
I’ll take you up on that deal! lol

How to remove the electronic harness on the solenoid pack of the E4od 1 simple question please
It’s just held in by two clips of I remember correctly.
Trying to find info on swapping out aod to e4od in 90 f150 5.0 4x4. Both trucks mine and the donor truck are both 5.0 4x4 and same year.
Man I got a 92 4x4 had it parked on a hill and now park won’t rev up no reverse neutral is drive till 2nd and drive shifts out fine. Any ideas what happened?
Did your Over Drive button flash and speedometor quit working when it shifted hard ?
My overdrive button is flashing currently, think about trying this if you have fixed yours if love to hear what your issue was
Did you ever figure out what your problem was? I’m having this exact same issue
I have.a 94 4x4 with the 4 r70w trans and mine is having the exact same issues driving me nuts wonder if it’s the same part failure?
HOW do I get the shift solenoid pack out? Mine was difficult and the electrical connector disconnected from the pack and is still stuck in the transmission housing. How is that supposed to come apart?
How to remove the clips on a solenoid pack upper part
Did you have a check engine light when this started happening?

Slap an oil cooler on it I heard an old guy said that's the only thing they did to em
