I have always had problems finding decent gloves to keep my hands warm with good dexterity, spent a lot of money too, The same with boots until I tried the Mickey Mouse boots, these are the best boots in the world, love them, and are reasonably priced. Hey John, thanks for checking us out! Here is our two cents for you: Cutting and stacking wood in 15 *f = classic or lightweight gloves. Ice fishing in 10 *f = 4-season gloves. Snowboarding, snowmobiling in Canada, or seal hunting in Antarctica = frontier mittens. You lose dexterity with every layer of insulation. Don’t expect to perform brain surgery with the 4-seasons, but you can easily take a northern off a treble hook while ice fishing with them. We are intrigued by the military extreme cold boots. Definitely going to look into them.
Anyone know how these are for iceboat sailing? Or chopping wood? These both need durability good grip, and you can't afford the gloves to slip off your hand and you're using them

I just bought the insulated gloves without the cuff. They seem great. What do you recommend for maintenance. Also, I need a pair of mittens, how do these compare to hestras?
We’ve just followed the Giv’r care recommendations that they send with their gloves as well as on the website. Just a good natural wax every once in a while is all we’ve needed to do. I can’t compare the mitts because I’ve never had experience with Hestras. But I can just tell you we love these mitts. Thanks for checking us out!
@@5199John I agree. I love the givers and they are great for casual stuff. I forgot to mention that I have hestra heli gloves that I love but I actually bought liners and that solved my warmth issue. I also have the Outdoor research aksel glove which compares to the givers, but after two years with the aksels and a few months with the givers, I can already tell the givers are better

Someone asked about Kinco vs these. These are built 10x better than Kinco the leather is probably 2x as thick. Everything is better about these--but I have one complaint---I've wore them outside 2x..and both times...when I got back inside... took them off...and put my hand back in...they were moist inside. Seems to me there is a non-breathable membrane sandwiched in between the leather and the interior insulation. You can Sno-Seal the Kinco's to improve them.

Just so you know sno seal and Nikwax work for 2 reasons. (1) the wax paste waterproofer is naturally hydrophobic. (2) the wax clogs the pores in the leather, and prevents a wicking action from the leather fibers. This prevents water from coming in the glove, as well as water vapor/ evaporating sweat from leaving the glove 👍. So even without a waterproof non-breathable liner which you suspect, you're going to have a problem from the wax doing it's job👍. Even most so-called waterproof/ breathable membranes, like the beloved Gore-Tex and 50 other brands are easily overcome by sweat vapor👍. The only two that I know of the are very difficult to overwhelm with vapor are "eVent" and "Polartec NeoShell". Any article of clothing or footwear made with those two waterproof breathable barriers actually do what they're supposed to👍. Hope that helps to answer what's happening 👍✌️.

Yes Sno-Seal would be perfect. Any natural based was is ideal according to the company. You really just want to steer clear of silicon or other synthetics. Thanks for checking us out and let us know what you think of the gloves!
Our bet would be that you’ll be impressed and like them. They are the most rugged pair of gloves you’ll ever own. And we are from northern Wisconsin….basically a suburb of Ontario.
To what temp can the classics handle?..I would like to use them outdoors when it's 0° outside and then use them to reach into a kiln to pull out whatever is in the kiln.
If you ask Tim, one of our viewers, he’ll tell you it’s all about your circulation in your hands. Which is actually pretty accurate. However, in general, I’d say the classics would easily handle both 0 degrees and taking something out of a kiln. Their intention is to maximize dexterity….the only way to do this is to size something that fits like, well, a glove. And it is plastered all over their website and sizing resources. 2 hrs at 15 degrees with the insulated gloves shouldn’t be an issue for most people. You do lose a bit of dexterity with the insulation. We primarily hunt in cold weather with my mitts so I can easily slide my hand out to pull the trigger.
My opinion--- there is no magical glove/mitten out there. I'll explain what I mean. It comes down to circulation. I started noticing kids at November outdoor high school football games. Adults bundled up and still cold, 11 year old kids in short sleeves and just being "normal" --not any indication of the cold even bothering them. I think its circulation related. For some people, there simply is NOT a mitten on the planet that could keep your hands warm in any condition (say...20 below zero, etc), UNLESS it has an active heat source (Battery, or hand warmer). If you're just sitting, and your circulation isn't great, I think you (someone) could get cold fingers at 15 degrees in gloves. If your moving, chopping wood, etc...I'm sure the gloves would be fine at 15 degrees. Mittens you could go a bit colder. But just sitting still at extreme temps, I don't think there is a boot or glove on the planet that could keep everyone's hands warm. For me, at 15 degrees with gloves, I think I'd possibly be okay, UNLESS I took the gloves off once. If I did, I don't know if I could get my hands warmed back up. So in summary after all of my babbling....everyone is different and experiences cold differently. These mitts are probably in the top 20% of warmest mitts there are (that don't have an active heat source).
@@question_it_701 that’s a very good point. Some people’s hands do get colder faster. I wouldn’t say that either of us NED boys have crazy warm or cold hands. So, yes, that is our rather subjective answer to a subjective question…..OUR hands stay warm at 15 degrees for 2 hours.

In our experiences with other top brands of outdoor equipment (Sitka, the north face, Patagonia, mountain hardwear, etc), Give’r is not only comparable or even cheaper, they outperform in all areas. We have also had many experiences with cheaper hardware store leather gloves (the kind you get for free when you drop off a deer hide) but those don’t hold a flame to the quality and durability of Give’r.

Canadian military arctic mukluks are better boots. Mickey mouse don't breath at all but are waterproof. At 40 below waterproofing is less an issue.

Quite a lot of money for some gloves
You get what you pay for. If you’re someone who needs good quality insulated gloves every single day, then it’s absolutely worth it
