In theory the VDP could handle swapping out the graphics if it using a buffer, though games that employ compression such as HAL titles including Kirby's Adventure would suffer slowdown regardless. I'm really impressed that the Genesis / Mega Drive is able to pull this off as accurately as it is at all.
If you're using the Genesis video hardware to display the screen, and if you're running into something the NES can do but the Genesis can't, there's not a lot you can really do about it.
that's really neat ngl. SMB3 would almost pass off as the NES original if it wasn't for minor graphical glitches and the jittery status bar. Can't say the same for Kirby's Adventure, though. That one looks pretty microwaved lol.
That’s a shame that the genesis cannot swap graphics from rom as quick as the nes could do,even the snes cannot do that,it’s amezing that the 8bit nes wins in streaming graphics data straigth from the rom unlike those compeating 16bit systems, Also i suppose the genesis still does need an extra chip to emulate nes games on the fly right?
Yeah I assume the flashcart is using its FPGA to emulate the NES. SNES would have an advantage if someone tried to make an emulator like this for it, because the SNES can change what section of video RAM each layer uses for graphics, so you can switch graphics instantly as long as the graphics you want to switch to are already loaded. PocketNES for GBA does that.
Reminds me of the 150+ In 1 plug n play I had as a kid after several months.
Nemo's messed up sprites looking quite wrong In certain ways I can't say.

There is also the NES scanline IRQ that can't easily be addressed.
It also appears that the square wave duty cycles are swapped in some cases.
mind if you create my fighter in fighter maker 2? if you still do it?
Interesting find, didn't know it could attempt emulation. Can't the emulation also emulate a PPU to help with the graphical tileset issues?
