I have to have 1 lead vocal and 1 back up that I duplicate to pan to each side. Every time I've tried to record 2 seperate takes for panning it never works. Its impossible to get THE SAME EXACT take twice. Why would I want the left to sound different from the right?
I think another thing that brings out the fullness in mixes that I've noticed is the use of delay (particularly in Pop and Hip-hop) it helps eliminate awkward "dead" space (maybe not so much in regards to panning) and also helps to make the tracks more catchy. Great video can you do a video on ducking delays with a compressor I get it some times but seems like the volume is not where I want it to be and when I turn up the aux of the delay it makes the vocal louder
Working in audacity... I know lolol but... I doubled all my vocals (mains and harmonies) and was panning them to the left and right 100 percent.... but maybe I should keep both mains in the center and have the harmonies go like a higher number to the left and right but not 100? also, is there a science to the sweet spot you mentioned about having one slightly panned to the right? edit: when I bring the mains to 50 left and 50 right I can tell the vocals want to clash with each other, and even though because it went to the middle a bit more, that made it louder, which I deamplified a bit, you can still hear it clashing and almost hear like a clipping sound... so maybe for now I will just keep them to 100 left and 100 right... but I will still play around with it...
How did you get your mono tracks to have panning? My mono tracks does not have a panning option i'm guessing because it's a single sound. The only way I can get it to have a panning option is if I route it to a stereo bus. ANY HELP or did I answer my question myself lol?
i noticed you have the music on a Stereo 2 track... Is there a reason you don't keep all the instruments on separate tracks until the filial mix and bounce down with vocals
One thing I want you to talk about more of when it comes to your mixes is, (how & why), you turn the (Volumes) down to certain levels due to blending, plug in effects and more!

Great video can you do a video on ducking delays with a compressor I get it some times but seems like the volume is not where I want it to be and when I turn up the aux of the delay it makes the vocal louder
Working in audacity... I know lolol but... I doubled all my vocals (mains and harmonies) and was panning them to the left and right 100 percent.... but maybe I should keep both mains in the center and have the harmonies go like a higher number to the left and right but not 100? also, is there a science to the sweet spot you mentioned about having one slightly panned to the right?
edit: when I bring the mains to 50 left and 50 right I can tell the vocals want to clash with each other, and even though because it went to the middle a bit more, that made it louder, which I deamplified a bit, you can still hear it clashing and almost hear like a clipping sound... so maybe for now I will just keep them to 100 left and 100 right... but I will still play around with it...

He was planning doubled tracks/ harmony vocal parts. If you’re routing mono tracks to a stereo bus, then you would pan the stereo bus.
You definitely have to route to either a Stereo Output, Or a Stereo Bus To have Panning control!!
