He's such a good actor. When he says "Fry th fuck." his actual voice comes through and after he's chastised he lays the french thicker to cover, like someone in that situation would. So good. I love Michael.
I had such a crush on Rene when I was younger. The actor is handsome and that Cajun accent is everything! 😍 I hope the Cajun and Creole cultures are kept alive in Louisiana, makes me want to move there.
You'd still hear distinctive Cajun accents among old people up until the late 20th Century, but it's largely gone now. Cajuns today generally sound largely indistinguishable from Anglo-Southerners, with the exception of a few words that retain distinct pronunciation, e.g. "old" pronounced like "owed".
He sounds Spanish in some scenes. I love it! I can relate! Also, I can definitely see the French/Southern European inflection and voice while having a vague southern voice. Makes him sound foreign. I love this accent!
I loved his character. At the very least if they were gonna make him the serial killer, they could’ve kept him alive to at least taunt the Stackhouse’s. Also, I had an inkling it was gonna be Rene, because he was too likeable 😢... Why couldn’t they have made it someone else???
... "ah, hey, ya, you." Just can't replicate his engaging, scene-stealing accent -- and that's the point! This talented, innovative actor CREATED that accent! It was never meant to be realistic, fer chrissakes! Critical comments are befuddling. After all, this isn't a doc about the origins of accents! It's just plain fun and fictionalized entertainment -- humans, vampires, shape-shifters, etc. -- AND a serial killer living in plain sight using a simple accent to blend in with farmers, blue-collars, drunks, and folks strung out on V-juice who don't give a crap about accents -- except for newcomer's from New York. Have a bite, give a bite, and enjoy!
Not American, so I never heard a Cajun accent before I watched True Blood. But MAN, it's sexy as hell. Has to be my favourite American regional accent, the other Deep South accents coming in at a close second.
Was so disappointed when he turned out to be bad.. his acting and accent was on point and the scene with him protecting Suki really made his character likable.
"You lookin to cause trouble you?" "I tell you one t'ing me. . ." Any day now I'm just gonna start ending all my sentences with pronouns X-P He's good looking too but, unfortunately he's too short to play Gambit. Maybe as a voice over. . . I love the accent (accurate or not, it's just TV, people need to lighten up).
+CxHxRxIxSxTxIxAxN That accent is pretty darn good--almost perfect, in fact; best one I've ever heard on TV or in movies--and I'm a Louisiana native. :)
Criminal. *SPOILER* He discriminated against vampires as a whole & murdered women whom associated with them, starting with his own sister. His Cajun accent & name were fake.
kinda wish michael used a scottish accent on OUAT, mayb then neal wudv still been alive &henry wudv still had his dad, while rumple wudv still had his 1stborn son, since his mom just brainwashed his 2ndborn son, omfg! Poor Rumbelle!

I said that the entire season. When he revealed he was someone else and dropped that accent, I jumped up and said "I fucking KNEW that motherfucker was fake!"
+Hello, Kind Sir Depends on where you're from. In the bayou, that's dead-on. :) And Michael-Raymond James actually learned his lines with a Cajun reader to get the accent down, from what I've read.
Right? I loved it. (And he was the only one in the series who didn't sound 100%fake with that generic "southern" accent that sounds nothing like home :)
That accent is gonna kill me dead 😭. “Don’t look at me you”
Sexy as hell lmao
I was so disappointed when Rene turned out to be the bad guy. I really liked his character. And his accent was sexy as hell.
I was so shocked and disappointed! I never suspected him at all
That fake sexy accent 😅
@@crystallina2920 Literally everyone knows after all these years that his accent was fake. Doesn't make it any less sexy.
Is this Gambit? Wasn't his accent a fake in the show that he practiced?
Please read my above comment. @@rollopolloboymarch1074
I had a crush on Rene all through the season, but I think it was a fantastic twist how things turned out. Completely unexpected.
Unless you read the books. I almost wish I hadn't. Since I knew who the murderer was the whole time, there was no surprise.
Dude is fine af
Yes I had a crush on his too lol. Ya know until I found out he was a murderer
Same
Wow. Finally, someone in Hollywood learned the actual Cajun accent. The best I’ve heard actually.
He's such a good actor. When he says "Fry th fuck." his actual voice comes through and after he's chastised he lays the french thicker to cover, like someone in that situation would. So good. I love Michael.
I actually really loved Rene... wish he hadn't been the serial killer! ;(
Me too! He was my favorite. I was super bummed he was the serial killer.

Came here after watching Deadpool vs Wolverine, Channing Tatums cajun accent reminded me of René
wow same lmao. it immediately transported me to true blood season 1. man what a great season of TV, the best of the show imo
I can't get enough of his accent.. so hawt!!
I had such a crush on Rene when I was younger. The actor is handsome and that Cajun accent is everything! 😍 I hope the Cajun and Creole cultures are kept alive in Louisiana, makes me want to move there.
Tv really needs more Cajun accents
Society needs more Cajun 🥰
Dats fa sure Sha
Rene will always be my fav character on True Blood. Only one season of him, but loved it.
He’s so attractive
He pulled off that accent to perfection. It's very realistic. I worked with many Cajuns over the years.
River Birch lol wrong no one talks like that here
꧁ Jess ꧂ some places do talk like that still, depends where you go
Really? It sounded super duper off to me but maybe this is like...a sub-dialect I've never heard?

@@luvmeany I grew up in an area of south Louisiana where this was and still is the major accent. A lot of people still talk like this
Rene is the cutest guy on the show.
He sounds Spanish in some scenes. I love it! I can relate! Also, I can definitely see the French/Southern European inflection and voice while having a vague southern voice. Makes him sound foreign. I love this accent!
That guy's accent is perfect for Gambit from the X-Men

Should've been Gambit
Fr. And honestly with X-Men 97 he should have voiced Gambit.
I loved renee
He would make a way better gambit than Channing
Aw hell yeah!
Andrew LaMay Yeah, his accent would actually be Cajun, not just Southern or, for some reason, Jamaican like they usually make him.

I can fix him 😂
You skipped the part in the car home, Sookie read Rene's mind
of the "Lalalalalalalala." bc that was Michael's real voice.

Its YodaSpock but that was my favorite part of that episode. XD
Burda Ellis I think that was spookiest trying to read in on Tara after Tara slept with sam
This is still the best Cajun accent I ever heard represented on TV
Omg his accent
That end scene tho... #hot
Dave before the apocalypse
René was one of favorites until we found out he was a serial killer. Wish he wasn’t😭
For some reason, I think of Gambit when I hear him speak!
I want to learn how to talk like him !
