They really do have some stellar harmonies. I love the original, too, and they really did it justice. Adam Rupp singing in his high tenor is truly a sweet addition. Great reaction too! 🙌

The original group started in 2000, but the combination of these 5 voices have only been together since 2016. It is amazing how quickly they have blended their voices to become one gorgeous sound. these 5 men are some of the most humble, down to earth people you will ever meet too, which makes them even more special. I would love to hear your take on more of their stuff.

I grew up listening to Crosby, Stills & Nash & had their album with this song Helplessly Hoping. Absolutely loved them & their harmonies. This song is full of alliterations. Home Free more than does justice to all the songs they cover. And this song is perfection to me with the 5 part harmonies. I can't say enough about how great these guys are & humble while still staying respectful to the original song.

This was one that Chance brought to them. That's one of the great things about this group is that they support each other's visions and projects and allow and encourage each other to grow as musicians. Any one of them can bring an arrangement to the group and they'll work it out.

The group started in 2000 by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp They are the first and only known country a cappela group but they can honestly sing any genre. They won The Sing Off season 4 2013 that's where they became very popular. Fans of Home Free are known as Home Fries .Ok now let's introduce you to the guys: Chris Rupp:Baritone (cowboy hat or other hats) One of the co founders of the group from Minnesota . Left in 2016 to pursue a solo career.Adam Rupp :beatboxer - tenor ( Freak of nature) can make any sound imaginable second co founder also from Minnesota . Austin Brown - High Tenor ( Long wavy hair ) voice of an angel from Georgia .Rob Lundquist - Lead tenor (beard and glasses) very soulful voice from Minnesota. Tim Foust: Bass (long dark hair now short with grey streak) 5+ octave range from Texas. Adam Chance : Baritone/ Bass ( Chance a because two Adams is confusing ) silky smooth voice replaced Chris Rupp in 2016 has short dark hair and usually wears a backwards baseball hat is from Alabama.

This is in my top 5 favorites from Home Free. If you loved this one, there are more classic rock songs from iconic groups that they’ve covered that I think you’ll go crazy over. One is a Dire Straits cover of “Brothers In Arms” that will knock your socks off. Another is an uptempo rock song cover of “Listen To The Music” by the Doobie Brothers. One other is their Bruce Springsteen cover of “Born In the USA”. I’m really enjoying your reactions to Home Free! Being a fan of Classic Rock genre (especially the 70’s, since I was a teen during the first half), Home Free can, and has covered many genres in their own unique style.

Home Free was founded in 2000 by Chris Rupp, his younger brother, Adam Rupp, and Adam's best friend Matt Atwood in Minnesota.. Adam and Matt were in their teens. Adam who is a tenor volunteered to be the group's beat boxer. Chris and Matt are no longer in the group.
Home Free went through numerous members through the years. Robb Lundquist was next permanent member after his previous acapella group disbanded . He joined in 2008. At that time, the members performed part time and held other jobs.
Tim Foust was recruited to be a temporary bass when Home Free desperately needed a bass for their first tour. Tim has a five octave range. Chris tried to persuade Tim to become a permanent member of Home Free, but Tim refused to live in Minnesota and to work full time while performing part time. Tim was living at the time in California and had a permanent position as a musician for a wealthy patron. Later Tim returned to his house state of Texas and reached out to join Home Free permanently in 2012.
Austin Brown was performing as a member of a cruise cast. He saw Home Free perform as guest performers on the cruise and immediately wanted to be a member when there was an opening. At that time, Matt had decided to join his family's business due to his father's illness. Austin joined Home Free in 2013.
Home Free was on Their Sing Off, an acapella competition show, in 2013. At the producer's urging, they styled themselves as a country group to get on the show. They actually thought that they would stay only a few episodes. They, however, won the competition partly due to their tight harmonies. Voiceplay competed the same season. Home Free won The Sing Off the season after Pentatonix had won the competition.
Chris Rupp decided to quit Home Free to focus on other projects. He was replaced by Adam Chance in 2016. Chance had competed on The Sing Off the second season as a member of Street Corner Symphony which came in second place. He had replaced Street Corner Symphony's bass after Tim had refused the position earlier. (Tim at the time had decided to quit a musical career and acapella). Chance quit Street Corner Symphony to join Home Free. He has a four octave range.

I am a loyal Home Fry. The group was created by Adam Rupp and his brother Chris in 2000. Tim joined in 2012 and Austin in 2013. Chris left the group and was replaced by Chance and these five have been together since 2016.I have seen them live three times and they are just as good if not better. I brought my husband with me last year. He has the kind of ear where he can hear if a violin is out of tune. He said that he did not hear a single wrong note, mistake in pitch or anything else. That's incredibly difficult to do live. They are all talented musicians on their own, but together they are something else.

There is one live version out there on YT that you can find just by searching (fan made video). They rarely did this one live. My guess is because even though it sounds simple, it's technically very hard as they are breathing the same, pronouncing the words the same, and all that jazz. The live version is without mics but they do quiet the audience down first so they can be heard.

Bass Tim Foust actually has the widest range of the four singers at 5+ octaves. Tenor Austin Brown's range is just under five octaves. In any case, this song is HF's masterpiece. The exhibition of their expertise is exquisite. This isn't talent, it is talent scrubbed and polished by years of effort into SKILL.

If you haven't seen it you need to watch Ring of Fire with Avi from pentatonix and Homefree, it's amazing. If you want to see both pentatonix and homefree's beginnings, you need to watch The Sing Off. Pentatonix is season 3 and Homefree is season 4. It's like 11 or 12 songs per group but you will learn so much about how both groups got started, and watch them grow into what they are today. Have a Blessed New Year.

I am subbing because i love the way you appreciate my favorite group. There are so many things to love about Home Free. They are genuinely great humans who actually like each other, the music is so important to them. There is not an ego in the bunch, and they give so much to us fans. Keep the Home Free coming!!!

There is a live recorded by an audient, and guess what? They didnot even use mic, but just sang out loud! Please search "Home Free Helplessly Hoping Live at the Ryman October 2019".

You need to go watch it again. When you said something about Rob, Rob and Chance were singing at the same time. It was just their pitch and synchronization was so perfect, you only heard one voice. Go watch it again, and watch who is singing in that tiny square in the background, and you will see that both of the hem are singing. Not just Rob. No
Music or beat to sync with, yet they do it so cleanly like it’s nothing.

The two originals started in high school? But the group won the same competition show that Pentatonix did- The Sing Off Season 4.

I'm loving your Home Free journey. I'm sure everyone has filled you in on their 20+ year history (with some minor changes in personnel once they found their sound). They don't do a lot of 5 part harmony (without the beatboxing) so this is a special treat. I know we've missed ushering in the new year but their version of "Auld Lang Syne" will give you chills. I've seen them live several times and it is incredible to experience in person but I'm told that they have been known to close concerts with "Auld Lang Syne" and sing it off mike. I'd love to hear that but still, It's worth a listen, even if it is a little late. Have a blessed new year.

As always love your reaction! They are all so talented! And they were meant to sing together as perfect as their harmonies are! Want to hear range on one of them check out “May Day”. Also they do a great “American Pie” with Don McLean and all take turns taking lead. Kinda showcases each of them.

Most Home Fries prefer if wait to do Mayday until you know the guys, can name them and their usual roles in the group. The surprises will be more obvious that way. May I also suggest doing their cover of Dire Straits’ Brothers in Arms first and then Mayday, for bigger impact.
