whew I almost forgot to listen to this today.
Neek you still listen to this? XD
Anton Pitkänen who doesn’t
I didnt lol um anyone kinda dance to this to the rythm lol
I'm here 6 years later to remind you to listen to this again in case you forgot!
every day for 6 years bro
This just screams Lion King
Same here Bro !!!
Don't you mean Lion Kong?
They should've made a new animal character that you can ride on this level like a lion that has a projectile roar
That's what I thought when I went through the level. It seems most of the people here made that connection, if not all.
SpyPhone5 Or just bring back some of the old animal buddies.....;w;
It's impossible not to be happy while listening to this song, or playing the level. :D
...Just until scorch 'n' torch happens...
is imposible have a smile, when play this game, is one the best donkey kong game
I take English isn't your first language, friend?
it's a bit harsh u know
yes, i am from chile
Hello, I'm from Honduras! :)
Hello, i AM from donkey kong country :)
This comment section reassured me abt not being the single one amazed by the perfection of that level in terms of visuals, originality and soundtrack.
I had my little tear too while playing it, it’s so heartwarming to see people put so much love into their production, especially nowadays.
Somehow I feel like these kind of people have a curse because it’s often the craziest creations, aka those that are terribly heavy emotionally to bear for a human living that end up kind of forgotten or not just having the credit their deserve.
I played this game 9 years after playing DK Country Returns on the Wii, I was already stunned back then by the beauty of it, and now after all this time, I gave Tropical Freeze a chance thinking I wouldn’t appreciate it as I did when I was 13 for Returns. I was terribly wrong and I can really attest of how talented this entire studio is. Not just the visuals, not just the level design, not just the soundtrack, instead: just everything.
Thanks to you devs for pouring so much of your hearts into these DK games, it’s almost an insult to the emotions you gave us to have paid the game 50$ only. You’re these kind of people that make you see your individual human experience from a whole new perspective. Thank you.
This. It breaks my heart to see how little recognition these games have.
@@octocat592 this game is the Pokémon Black and White of platformers; everyone hated it at first, but years, YEARS later, people are turning back to it to give it a big ol' hug and an apology for treating it so rudely.
Everything about this level is perfect, it is easily my favorite from the game and probably my favorite level in gaming ever.
This level nearly made me fill tears of joy. The singing music & all. :')
Video Game: 5:48 all of the sudden
Me: ................... 😟😢😭
If Heaven was for real, this is what you would hear at the gates.
***** Heaven is for real :)
+C-Threep no
+Hannah Arthur Shhh. Let's just enjoy the music, every one.
Captain Olimar dont tell me how to live my life
+JezzupWuzzup This is what you'd hear if they made another lion king
I just can never sit still while listening to this.
It's the Circle of *LIIIIIIIIIFE*!
This game is way better than the modern 2d Mario platformers. I think Mario games just aren't as good as they used to be sadly.
+ItHurtsWhenIPee100 I completely agree.
DKC is a much better 2D platformer.
+ItHurtsWhenIPee100 I thought 3D World was just as good as this game.
+Markell Hawthorne He said 2D platformers.
Oh come on, 4 players or even 2 players Mario is awesome. That said, DKC has better level design that's for damn sure.
+ItHurtsWhenIPee100
I agree. 2D Mario is way too sterile and safe. God forbid we actually have something to do besides Grassland, Water, Desert, Ice and Forest again. 2D Mario games used to be creative, now they're by the book formulaic and stale. Like the audience just can't take something different to play for once.
wow!! awesome!!
OMG, this is the best DK song EVER! Wow, just wow. Words cannot describe how amazing this soundtrack is. The composer must have felt really inspired on the day he composed it, must have been David Wise. Instant fave!
That's because it was David Wise, you dumbo.
Wesley Felicio David Wise did the entire soundtrack for Tropical Freeze, a "wise" decision for Retro Studios to have him compose again.
Best level in the entire game!
I can see dashie rapping to this song
Cringe
+Max Anderson lol
Dashie hates Donkey Kong...but I can still picture him rapping.
Song and stage should have been in SSBU.
One of my favorite one along with Scorch 'N' Torch
1:34 I keep hearing King Harkinan say 'Yes!'
Doesn't sound like Donkey Kong music at all... But I love it!
BUT NOW IT IS DONKEY KONG ^^ more variety! i love having cranky on my back in this level. the music also changes at the right time when you play as it shows the savanna in the backdrop
All these comments, and nobody's thought to make the obvious referrence:
"It's good to be the Kong."
"I just can't wait to be Kong!"
KidInJacket "I'm gonna be a mighty Kong, like no Kong was before"
UltraPrimeVinyl I've never seen a Kong or beast with quite so little hair
Kong Christian stod ved højen mast
Nehfarius Damn Right it is!!!
The level is just.............. more than a paintaing just beautiful.
the ambience, the music ,the design.
honestly, one of the most beautiful level in video games.
Yeah i like it specialy the part of the festival at the end
StarBoy the level gave me sort of lion king vibes and I just enjoyed it the whole time I played it
*painting
Yeahhhh, every once on a while I just boot up the game to play that level
Demonic likes
Rare times in my life where I didn’t want to hit that DK barrel at then end…
The level is great but the music is amazing. David Wise has done it again.
And Kenji Yamamoto
@@daurinlora6922 He didnt compose much for this game
@@RaghavPrakash Yamamoto got a bunch of Nintendo employees together to record the choir parts for this, David Wise was going to use voice samples.
@@b-r-a-i-n-s-t-o-r-m just watched him talk about that the other day--so awesome!
The first time I played this level, I was so incredibly overwhelmed by the stunning visuals, amazing musical score and general good-time vibe from the level that I let out tears of joy for the first time in awhile.
It's pretty amazing how much a game can impact you, especially one as simple as Donkey Kong Country.
I shed a tear too man
james graves Nintendo is good at making you feel.
Yea that's true whn u think abt it
Rinku Starr That IS why it's called Donkey Kong: Tropical Feels
Ninja Bannanas True dat.
I genuinely LOVE that so many people have written about their experience playing this level for the first time, because I am RIGHT WITH YOU. When I first played Grassland Groove, I was so overwhelmed with the visuals, music, and design that I could barely contain my happiness. It punctured the general sadness I carry with me through the day, and made me thankful that such artists are willing to commit the time and passion to share such a thing with us.
And it makes me even sadder that we havent gotten a new DK Game in over 10 years... I hope the near future will bring us Back in the Jungle
Btw I Hope you're okay and the general sadness turned into General happiness
Have a great day, fellow DK Fan
@@Lulle__ What an exquisitely kind message! Thank you for sending it my way :). I am certainly in a better place now, and folks like yourself are a key reason why.
i just can't wait to be kong!
TF is probably the best 2D platformer I've played. Truly a masterpiece that probably won't ever get a recognition it deserves. :(
Sooo agree. Best 2D platformer since Super Mario World.
So true, this game blew my mind away. Everything about it was just pure awesome. One of my new all time favorites
i could not agree more. i plan on getting quite a few games next month and not many are worthy competition to dkc tf. its my favorite video game of all time for all sorts of reasons but the music is probably the biggest one. i may only like 27 out of this 60 piece soundtrack but thats more because i have incredibly picky taste in music than anything else. when i heard that david wise was composing for this game i honestly went "meh" about it considering i liked only a few of returns tracks but the guy really did impress me in this game.
and don't even get me started on the level themes and how they use what there based off of to there maxium potential especially the bright savannah and autumn heights.
also the snowmads are really darn cool. considering i love winter animals and vikings those guys are a match made in heaven.....or valhala.
i could on for hours about why i love this game but i only have a few more things to say before i get back to listening to the music or click on another video. this game is so darn good that dare i say....that this game is the super mario galaxy of this game generation. think about it. it has a ton of heart and love put into it, its on a supposably underpowered console, and is being hailed as one of the best games of all time. am i right?
I don't even like platformers, but this game was amazing to play.
***** gamespot are a sorry excuse of a review company, they have their heads so far up their asses. Their reviews are 100 percent bullshit, this game is definitely 10 material, it's one of the best games I've played
0:02 If you listen carefully, you can hear Mario say : Yiiipee ! :)
( You can hear it better at 2:38 )
Omg, that's true. Nice finding!
I don't know if this is really Mario... but that would be a great easter egg from David since Mario and DK were rivals once :)
Dude, i compared it to his Yipee! in Super Mario 64...and it totally is the same clip. David Wise you brilliant, brilliant man!
Holy freaking carp. I thought at first it was an instrument, but those two precise points are indeed Charles Minuet saying "Yippee!" in his Mario voice.
i think thats diddy kong
I love the "Donnnnkeyyyy Konnnnng!" chant at the end.
That chant is used in the Start up when you select it on the Wii U
I hear volleyball XD
Same, I don't ever finish the level until that part finishes
Who likes the part when climbing onto the giraffes?
who likes the part when fishing for likes?
Tarik Bihorac who likes the part when people be really mean to nice people?
The part when you jump between the snakes and the fireworks are going off almost made me tear up, it was so damn beautiful. Incredible game.
Der schönste Level der bisherigen Spielegeschichte!!
elfwizard 99 I do.
I adore this soundtrack, but I also don't really get why people are so hard on the DKCR soundtack. It was perhaps a bit more atmospheric (unsurprising given that its composer was the guy responsible for the Metroid Prime soundtracks) but thoroughly beautiful. The Northern Hemisphere remixes used in the cliff world were so beautiful and ominous. Plus, there were those amazing new pieces for Mast Blast and Clifftop Climb.
Not to take anything away from this, either, I simply think ALL of the DKC games have fantastic soundtracks.
It was made by a hack in Japan who just remixed David Wise's original songs poorly or came up with new completely forgettable tracks. This one got the maestro back. The kind of talent Rare attracted in their heyday cannot be compared to a composer doing work for a company they're not even in the same hemisphere as.
***** He was the wrong man for the job. Plain and simple.
I think DKCR was great too, but honestly compared to this it just feels lackluster. This music is on a whole 'nother hemisphere.
I think Returns did have some great tracks, but it had enough duds in my opinion that I can't say it was quite as good as the others. I could still make a decent list of favorite songs from it, though.
To be fair a couple composers worked on DKCR not just Yamamoto. Also, I'm no the biggest fan of the Donkey Kong games or it's music but, holy shit, this games is so much fun and seriously has an amazing soundtrack. Maybe I'll get me SNES...
4:33 - 5:43 sounds like credits music for a Donkey Kong movie
Man this piece was so on point the freaking TREES couldn't help but get down with the get down lol. When I first played this stage, I was jamming along with them. Damn this is captivating.
Damn straight!
You know whats best about listening to video game music on yt... Reading all the comments from people sharing the same kind of love for this beautiful medium. I love it so much
This has such a sweet Lion King vibe to it. Thanks for the upload.
Downvoters can't handle DKC TF's Difficulty.
Wolfielink 0o0
Bro I got it three years ago and I can’t beat it
Returns is much harder. After completing Returns this game was practically a joke, having two less worlds and different Kongs than DK for Hard Mode
@@elgeeie yep and the switch version has Funky mode which is basically easy mode
Or they actually don't like it. Like me. This is the most overrated music in the game. Sure, it's kinda cool ingame, but that's it.
@@elgeeie are we playing the same game?Tropical freeze Is harder than returns....recently I repleyed them and in returns I died 23 times and 50 times in mirror mode,in tropical freeze 38 times and 70 in hard mode....(Sorry for my bad english I'm Italian)
Lion Kong
My fav part: YA YA YA YAAAAAA
This song captures the level perfectly. That level is easily one of the coolest levels ever.
Who could stay upset while playing THIS level?
+Alan Brown Gamespot
+mcm or IGN
+mcm To Hell with Gamespot.
The ending is just pure magic.
(AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHA AHHHHH) DONNNNNNKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY KOOOOOOOOOOOONG! So damn beautiful
Alan Brown that one STUPID OX and that challenge with having to tilt the flowers to get the bubbles.
Best music in the game!
PhoenixKev nope. Homecoming hijinx.
Most of the music is brilliant. I would've agreed with you about Homecoming Hijinx if I hadn't played it ALL THE TIME recently haha. Grassland Groove goes on too long for me, but it's still great.
My faves right now (apart from Homecoming Hijinx) are probably Seashore War, Rodent Ruckus (or just all the rocket barrel ones), Aqueduct Assault, Scorch 'N' Torch, Big Top Bop and Harvest Hazards.
metalgamer 817 Indeed.

And 6 bosses
and 41 gamespot members
When I first played this level, the first thing that popped in my head was The Lion King. Even the music has that vibe to it. The music is fantastic!
So glad Retro decided to make this game. Way better than the New Super Mario Bros series. Mario needs to stick to 3D Platforming, 3D World kicks ass, and Donkey Kong can have 2D Platforming.
Van Brohenheim Compared to the other 3D epics like the Galaxy games, sure, But I enjoyed 3D World WAYYYY more than the New Super Mario Bros series.
Cam Boycé I agree with yah, I did love 3D world a lot more than any of the NSMB games.
I mean Peach is playable for one, and that's an auto win for me, and I found the multiplayer just more fun in 3D world too.
Van Brohenheim yeah well 3d world was abit easier than i thought it would be
A 3D Donkey Kong would be cool too
SpyPhone5 didn't they already do that with that donkey kong boxing game? (can't remember the name)
why isn't this song or stage in smash bros for wii u ?
Because the first thing they think of when it comes to Donkey Kong is Jungle Hijinxs.
Quincy Thompson I agree about the song, but I'd rather that the King of the Jungle (what the Boxing Ring calls him) have a jungle stage.
YoshiWare Aren't there 6 remixes of that song in the Wii U version?
cyborgluigi Sadly.....
Because it seems Nintendo doesn't care about this game.
I like how at 5:56 they say "Donkey Kong!!" listen for it.
That part is amazing!
Really! First time I ever heard Donkey Kong's name actually sound epic!
Also Mario's "yipee!" is scattered throughout. It's truly amazing.
It's awesome. I believe that vocal part is used for the main title when loading the game, as well.
This game has the best and most diversified Ost I've ever heard
I play this to make my niece fall asleep, this is seriously soothing for her
Aw
Must be the atmosphere and the way the animals sway back and forth slowly
We need a new original Donkey Kong game for Switch. It's been too long
8 years in fact 😢

@@DJCMO42010
Your honestly right. I think the series is due for another Donkey Kong Country game. So, its way long overdue.

0:02 MARIO?!?! - If you listen closely you can hear a YIPPEE!!
i heard it
Isaac Kim me too. I hear him too.
super subliminal
Mario lives
I heard it too
This level made me feel happy like a child. 100%-ed it on the first run, on top of that! Hakuna matata!
I feel you man. Sincerely
4:32 - 5:45 simply magical!
Props to anyone who waited under the barrel for that last bit of music 👌
I heard this song the first time last night after reaching the level and I haven't been this amazed by a song since Stickerbush Symphony. The visuals created by Retro match the song perfectly. Such a beautiful game.
Impresionante, y el final es que es súper emocionante. David Wise es, de verdad, un genio.
Me recuerda al Rey Leon xdxd
I don’t know what you’re saying but I agree
@@stilljustawalrus8135 Awesome, and the final part is very emotional. David Wise is truly a genius.

Hey, that's a nice profile picture, friend! What'd it be, anyways?
It want me to the mountains
I feel it in my heart
DKC:TF sure knows how to impact you with every first level of each world...
I feel like watching The Lion King right now.
" I just can't wait to be king!"
African Theme Song of DK
The BGM shift during this stage is amazingly done!
This track is fantastic. The composer really knows how to capture the feeling of each level, and this song proves it. Can't wait for my copy to arrive on Friday!
This song screams both The Lion King and Tarzan
I wish this was in Smash. I'd never use another song for the DK levels.
Yeah
It could come with another DK stage based on the level, honestly I just want a DK stage that's not jungle themed
OH MY GOD at 2:38 in the background it's Mario from Mario kart 64 who's using a mushroom ! XD
YIIIIIPEEEEEEEEE
This might be the best nintendo platformer ever, And believe me, I've played a lot. Kirby mario (3d and 2d) plenty of indie games like celeste and this game just wipes the floor with them
Personally this game is pretty much on par with Celeste for me, but Celeste and DKC:TF are like four tiers above every other platformer game I’ve ever played
@@beanburrito4405 How did you like mario wonder?
In my oppinion, this is one of the best (maybe the best) track of the entire game. It sounds so wonderful, I really can feel how the sun is shining on me, aber how the animals are running through the grassland
My favourite
It' in my top 5. I think I like Homecoming Hijinx, Aquaduct Assault and Wimdmill Hills more.
But thos track is definitely a banger.
No espere enamorarme tanto de este nivel. :')
Es tan hermoso el 100% del tiempo.
this track is unbelievably good
I want this OST....NOW.
We really need a "Grassland McGroove"...
This song has made me tear up twice now.
Do I hear Mario saying jippi in the background. Or is it me, being delusional?
+MrTuri93 Nope, it's the mario sound when he f. ex uses the wingcap in super mario 64. When he pulls up from a dive
This Stage gave chills on the first time I played it ! Such beauty ! The Music , the ambience , the "girafes" on the background , everything there is perfect ! Really reminds Lion King a bit :D AMAZING STAGE !
Nothing short of a masterpiece. Absolutely OUTSTANDING music!
Pretty much all those chants are taken from Spectrasonics albums, most notably the one at 0:18 from "Heart of Africa", continuing the tradition of Nintendo soundtracks making use of stock samples.
It’s now been a decade to the day 😭
Todas Marks 10 years Without a DK game 😞
You guys should play this game while being high, it’s one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had
SPOILER
When you listen to this your wish to get back to monke is getting bigger
I like the part when they go "DOONKEEEY KOOOOOOOOOOOONG!!!
This should be the official anthem for Africa.
XD
donkey kong: escape 2 africa
Well this game was a sequel to Donkey Kong Country Returns.
THIS IS SO DANG GOOD AHH I LOVE VIDEO GAMES
You can just barely make out Mario saying "Yippee!" there in the intro
A savannah world and Rafiki as the boss XD
I guess cranky is close enough to rafiki in this game.
Mikey Patchy cranky is more like scrooge mcduck
Easily the best level I have played in a video game, the atmosphere from the visuals and music is just so overwhelmingly beautiful
Man! I am getting intense Madagascar vibes from this theme!
This level renewed my love for video games and why I dove into game development 5 years ago.
Took me 9 years, but I finally get this song and why people love it so much
this level made me feel like it was my birthday and the savanna was throwing a party for me
This song is so banging the trees in the background dance to it.
Sometimes I wish humans didn't exist and we were all monkeys in a living, breathing, beautiful green world. But then, I realize without humans I would never hear this amazing tune.
Reject society, return to monke
This level was an utter delight to play, and the soundtrack to it was a huge part of it. Thank you, David Wise!
the music and the level are perfect
3:19 my favorite part
The parts between 5:06-5:19 & 5:33-5:46 are the best parts of the song to me.
Nyah nyah nyah nyah nyaaaaaaaaaah!
The first time I played this level I was kinda freaked out by the moving trees. XD But now I absolutely LOVE this level!
