The first time I booted this up I was familiar with a lot of the roster from BBTAG. I had never seen Rise's animations and moveset and seeing them for the first time put a massive smile on my face. She was a delight to try out.
Persona 4 Arena was both my intro to Arc System Works fighting games, & the Persona series. Johnny Yong Bosch also autograped my PS3 copy of Arena Ultimax
While Ultimax isn’t backwards compatible with Xbox One/Series X, Persona 4 Arena is and any disc from any region will work. I can confirm since I bought a Japanese disc and my Series X recognizes it. Depending on the console’s region as configured it’s the version you get regardless of the disc region, so it downloaded the American region version.
These games are beautiful masterpieces. Arcsystemworks are truly fighting game masters. I love the yellow and red UI color aesthetic of the original more than Ultimax.
I never played any of these games, despite the fact that I'm a huge Shin Megami Tensei fan. I do think it's interesting that they tell a canonical story in the Persona storyline. Also, anything with Johnny Yong Bosch in it has to be good. Dude has done a lot of good stuff since his Power Rangers days. Great video! I always look forward to seeing your content on Saturday nights. Keep it up!!! 😃👍
@@Raddkann No, but I watched Marsh's videos on it about a hundred times. I know the guardian system eventually became what we know as Persona. Speaking of, Marsh just put out a new video this afternoon. Go watch it.
I wish the announcer and allround presentation from the arcade was in online matchs im talking on both games. it makes the arcade matchs feel more important than online matchs also this is a before rollback ark system game we get pissed if someone skips intro. the pre match announcer would buffer a bit of the lag
Persona 4 Arena has better aesthetics than Ultimax. I guess the yellow, loading screens, and Arena’s opening left more of impression on me than Ultimax.
I absolutely adore team blue’s work up until the failure of BBTAG (I still love BBTAG don’t get me wrong) but the C series for Blazblue and the P4A duology have to be some of the peaks of fighting games as a genre for me
I will never, ever play the JRPGs, but this is absolutely one of the gems of anime fighting. Never gets old to play, Rise is one of the funnest zoners in all fighting games. Edit: See, I'm so newbie that I didn't even realise I had been playing the sequel 😂
I love Persona Arena Its like Blazblue but more stupid It has plenty of strategic debt but honestly DP and Persona cancals chip user life and heath was never big in the first place awaking is 40HP that the extra defense and SP your allow to do cool stuff but the match is about over. I dont think combos mater to much Auto combo is good damage and universal ABCD is good damage + rage or Persona brake is double damage the real basic shit is half life. You can do training for as many hours you want but what matter is more you ablity to hit the opponent or cripple them with statuses there to much debt to be a party game but its goofy stupid you get mad if you play too seriously
The supers that Awakening gives you tend to be supercharged and game deciding. Some characters are really good at chipping themselves mid combo to get Awakening and turn a baby combo into like 5-6k and win. Also not every character has statuses or a way to make them matter if they do.
I bought first Persona arena and used Persona 3 FES did not work i bought FES digital I was playing Persona 3 at the same time as Persona arena. Persona 4 was on Playstion store a month or 2 later Persona arena will spoil Persona 4

If Rise was in the game then you played the updated version Ultimax
@ssjgoku78966777 Correct. I figured it still applied enough to base p4a that it would be worth commenting.

Persona 5 Arena would have been the biggest Persona fighter ever. I guess the Investigation Team older design was too hard for them to make.
Seems like a giant missed opportunity
@@Timic83tcIt absolutely is, as someone on yt mentioned, a fighting game involving the phantom thieves would basically just be layering a cake

These games made me actually pick up the regular persona games and fall in love with them too

I love how Atlus is sooooo adamant about not giving us P5A yet it's clear that they're obsessed with milking it for almost a decade now
We need a new Persona fighting game!
Wow bro went back to arena
