Glued, screwed, and tattooed! Always interesting to see other approaches to the same problem - I just finished building a studio desk and tried to make a point of using as few fasteners as possible and keeping it lightweight enough to haul up and down the stairs to my apartment. I guess when you have a ground floor woodshop, different problems come into focus. Nice build!

I'll be dmned. This is almost exactly the design I just completed. Not quite as umm heavy as this but similar in that it is a 3 piece modular design. I handled the upper issues with a wall mounted shelf 19" above the 29" desk height. A keyboard on the desktop is still a bit higher than a resting piano keyboard but its hard to go any lower and still have decent leg clearance. Nice job!.

next time i would suggest putting mineral wool or other acoustically damping material in the gaps of the torsion box. this prevents it from being a big resonance chamber, which is important when you plan on mixing with monitor speakers on the desk.

This is the best desk I've seen for a DIY desk and I love the plans! Thanks for that!
One correction for your plans though...the hutch top is 63 and 3/8", not 68 and 3/8's. I measured it about a dozen different ways and can't figure out how you came to 68. Maybe misreading a hastily hand-written "63" on a note? That or I'm missing 5" somewhere in the drawings.
