Even online it’s intense and fast paced. The reason you get a job after SCAD is because you’re so used to the pace and load that finding a job and working seems easy comparatively.
Marci Wolff that’s so true. I don’t complain when work gets busier then usual because it just reminds me of being at scad 😂 I’m known as the “fast” worker
I remember being a little interested in SCAD back when colleges were sending me recruiting mail! Definitely smart to take community college classes; something I never did! Ya live and learn. 😄
Congratulations!! Their Fashion department is amazing. I have a lot of friends that completed scads program that are in great places now. I hope I could answer all of your questions 😊
This video was super helpful and informal! I have a question about when you mentioned taking classes early. I plan on taking two college classes next year (my senior year in high school) and you mentioned how taking history wasn't really needed (along those lines) and I was wondering if you could give me some more information on that? I plan on taking English and I've been thinking about taking history for my second class although I've been also thinking about doing math instead. :)
TigerEyesFilms Most of my required classes were Art History and Architectural History. A regular history class didn’t really fulfill those requirements unfortunately because they obviously didn’t focus on the art part. I would definitely take an English and a Math class to get those out of the way. I took an online Math class the summer between my junior and senior year at scad while I was doing an internship to be able to graduate early. It saved me a lot of time and money. Just be sure to double check to make sure the credits will transfer
thanks so much for this video; it's super helpful as i'm starting at scad this fall majoring in interior design!!! i had a few questions: how were your 5-hr studios set up? was it a combination of teaching and the students doing their own work each class or what was the structure? also, considering the workload and the length of the classes, how often were you able to have a social life? and, do you think you would've been able to handle a minor with that?
No problem! First off, congratulations!!! SCAD really is amazing and I'm so excited for you. Each studio was different depending on the professor, but typically the first hour or so would be lecturing and most of your time will be dedicated towards your project. It's a good balance to make sure that you're being taught what you need to and the professor is there if you need them. As you get closer to capstone (senior year) there will be less lecturing and more time focused on the projects because they're very time consuming. Professors rely on you to do your work on your own time as well. Your social life will be just fine, because you're all in this together haha. Interior Design students spend a lot of time in the studio together and you'll make friends pretty quickly with the culture. If you're good at time management, you'll do just fine. I was able to go out downtown, have an internship, a relationship, a dog, and hold up my GPA throughout school. I did a minor in Architectural History because that's only one extra class that doubled as an elective. Talk to your advisor and make sure you're not trying to pursue something that takes too many extra classes because Interior Design does have a high amount of credits that are required so it can be tough to fit in some minors. Please let me know if you have any other questions! I may do a part 2 focused more on Interior Design specifically.
thank you so much, that's incredibly helpful and i appreciate the time you took to respond so thoroughly!! if you did a separate video focusing on interior design that'd be great but you've already provided me with some very useful info!
i lived at the hue as a 5th year senior and it was THE WORST place i'd ever lived. they've been through 3 different management systems and none have worked. way too expensive, you don't get the experience you're paying for and the parking garage continuously got "broken" into ughghhghgh hate them so much and i'm not even in school anymore lol
katie frezza I’ve had about 10 or so people that I know tell me the exact same thing. One of my friends even had to have her room literally ripped apart because it flooded
I loved this video so much!! Do you have any tips for a Illustration transfer student? I'm transferring this Winter and it's seemed a little overwhelming before I watched your video
Does Scad have a bulletin board for students? I am a disabled Veteran and I'm looking for a student who may want to design my backyard. Of course I would pay them.
Would student loans cover my supply cost, because I’m worried about all the costs, but I’m less worried if I have to pay for them out of pocket right away. I’m also kinda worried about that attendance policy, because I’m disabled. I mean, I don’t miss a lot of classes due to my disabilities, but I have doctors appointments. I’ve been pretty excited for the no sleep and the no eating, though. I don’t know why. I’m planning on going in for a film major.
Zoya Amirali that’s awesome!! I did have some friends in the advertising department, but my major doesn’t cross over with them very often. I know that they collaborated with photography, graphics, fashion, and film a lot. Scad tried to encourage collaboration with other majors because that’s exactly how you’ll work with each other in your career after graduation
Heyyy I am interested in going to SCAD for film and television after I graduate high school. As a junior, I have an option to take college classes at a community college while still enrolled in high school for free. In the video, you mentioned that you took community classes and they satisfied certain credits. What were the name of the cources you took and what credits did they replace? Thank you and this video was helpful!
Mya Chambliss so sorry it took so long for me to respond to this. I took duel enrollment courses in highschool for history, science, and English. Then I took my math class online through the same community college over a summer. I don’t remember the exact course. Always ask someone in counseling to verify that your credits will transfer
I want to attend this school sooo bad, i cant draw worth of crap I’m more of visual display kind of person. I took Visual Design At a local school in my city called General Assembly & im currently a Visual Decorator im really interested in the Interior Design Program or The UX Design Program. Any suggestions for people like me who can’t really draw? Is drawing a requirement you must have to attend? Also do you know how the eLearning courses work?
Vibing With Dae wow I took too long to respond to this comment, so sorry. Before going to scad, I didn’t have hardly any art related experience outside of normal highschool art classes. I was not a talented drawer or painter. 2 drawing classes are required for my degree and then a third one focused on architectural drawings. The professors kept everyone’s skill levels in mind and I ended up passing them all with an A. Don’t be too nervous about your skill level and just follow their instructions. I don’t know much about the elearning at all, I personally don’t think paying for scad classes online are worth it. They do have an amazing UX Design program. A few of my friends were in the first classes of the program when it started and they’ve done pretty well after graduating. It’s an interesting major
hey lydia, my name also happens to be lydia. but anyways i am a junior and wanna go to scad. i was wondering (you don’t have to answer) what was your gpa and sat/act test scores. i have a 3.8 gpa but adhd makes testing hard, i wanna know whether i should submit my scores or not.
It’s very easy to get in, my gpa was good, test scores were average. They have a high acceptance rate, but low graduation rate in comparison. So getting in is easy, staying in is not
Priyanka Gupta I don’t think that it’s worth it to pay to take scads courses online. Most of your tuition is paying for the facilities on campus. Your brand new dorms, classrooms packed with supplies, and just being in Savannah is why it’s so expensive. Taking online courses and charging the same tuition is just not okay. Scad is currently being sued for this

I’m gonna be attending SCAD Savannah this fall, and I was wondering if you knew anything about the Advertising department?
