Nice start guy's! Lot's of portage's and you guy's move through them quickly. Maybe the eerie feeling on 3 mile lake is ranger Frank's spirit still hanging around. A memorial cairn for him is at the start of the portage on North tea at the west arm. Looking forward to the second part!

The tents are waterproof, it's just an extra precaution, and the tents are not so yet when packing up. Normally, I would add another tarp for eating, but that one caught us by surprise . Also, it does help with the tree sap, my tarp is full of it.

I'm assuming the tarps are being used to cover the tents instead of covering a cooking/eating area because the tents leak a bit?
Sometimes a tarp is your best friend for keeping tree sap off your tent
