I used to know a man like this and I was very close to his Mother. I take flowers every time I visit them...they are buried alongside each other. The lady was my wife and he was my stepson. The one and only time he took his Mum up ended in heartbreak for all that knew them.
That is where I am at, very similar. Been 47 years. Friend and fiance, it still hurts. My empathies. I had rebuilt the plane they in which they went down.
That's gloomy. Hope you're getting the most you can out of life. Let em go. We all die and our folks wouldn't want us to waste our time being sad or dwelling.

@@HairyBushPilot teflon tape might leave some shreds that might end up in the wrong place and cause problems or failures. Happened more than once in the past. Google the subject on experimental airplane forum. Permatex sealing paste should be used.

Never ever use teflon tape to seal fuel system lines on an airplane.
