I can't believe I didn't know about the Heather Fawcett book! I loved the Emily Wilde books and love Anne of green gables! So excited to read it this autumn 😍
definitely! thank you for pointing that out, I honestly hadn't realised quite how white this list is. I have been struggling recently to find cosy autumnal reads (especially fantasy) by BIPOC authors that I haven't already read, so if you have any suggestions I'd really appreciate them 💛 I did a good bit of digging after reading your comment too, and found Shoestring Theory by Mariana Costa and The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong, both of which look very fun and cosy, so I've requested them both for my library when they come out later in the year 😊 will definitely be making more of a conscious effort about this in the future!
So excited for the fall reading season!! I also want to read One Dark Window, Where The Dark Stands Still, Rewitched, and A Dark and Drowning Tide this fall 😍 The Grace of Wild Things was so good and perfect for this time of year!! Some other books on my fall TBR include The Spellshop, Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea, The Thirteenth Tale, Ninth House, The Storied Life of AJ Fikry, the Beartown series, Dracula, Butcher and Blackbird, A Sorceress Comes to Call, and too many more haha!
I really enjoyed One Dark Window and I hope you will too! Perfect vibes for spooky season and unlike a lot of popular tik tok books, this one was actually edited well :D
Someone You Can Build a Nest In is awesome, I think you'll love it. It's the very definition of cozy horror, if there is such a thing. I just finished House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland, which is definitely creepy and autumnal, but not very cozy :)
Where the Dark Stands Still does not read like a YA at all! It’s beautifully written and very Howl’s Moving Castle coded. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
Hi! Just shooting my shot. I’m an indie author and I just released my debut novel An Oath Broken (YA Fantasy) and I was wondering if you’d be interested in getting a copy. It has BIPOC characters, a magic system based on stars, coming of age story, and a journey to find world changing secrets. Just let me know! I’m just looking for more readers to get my work out there.
