The ghost curse is basically in the game. The ferry of the damned changes you into a ghost so I don’t think it would be so hard to make it into a curse
A Skeleton curse would be easy as well, your character spawns as a skeleton if your profile does not load properly for others, it's a rare bug but should be made a proper curse. I understand it would cause issues with the normal skeleton pirates but to resolve that, how many skeletons really dress as ruby splashtails? :P
Instead of a straight up skeleton curse, I think it would be cooler if we got a rotting curse where it would show you in mid transition becoming a skeleton

That would be a zombie curse, and unfortunately, zombies don't fit the pirate theme. Skeletons and ghosts, yes, as no doubt by the time you find a stranded they've already become a skeleton, or skeleton symbolizes no rest for the wicked on the seas. Zombies, however, symbolize an imbalance with the world itself, and the undead just seek to destroy and devour the cause of it, usually us. Plus not everyone may be onboard with a costume that has your insides hanging out for all to see.
To be honest, the skeleton curse is what I want the most. Or something small, that changes/adds only a little to your character in order to stay clean and make others aware of your experience. Just like PL curse but harder to get and little more creative

If i recall, the devs have even said things like Black Sails and PotC were inspiration, so the Sunken Curse makes a lot of sense to me and as a huge fanboy of PotC I would instantly make it mine. I personally think it could be cool to get a 'curse of the ancients' a stone-like curse with maybe ore veins for flare, like the bloke in the Athena's Fortune book what kidnapped them mermaids. I thought he was an excellent villain for his part and a stone-clad curse as homage to both the book and the ancients would be interesting. as you can probably tell by my comment history, i'm genuinely obsessed with who or what the ancients were and where they could have went. I personally like the idea of Rare keeping it a deep secret, but it's very fun to theorize and hypothesize over.

Favorite curse? Gold. However, most of what you suggested sound awesome. I have an additional idea too: combining curses. Imagine having the golden skin from the gold curse while having the glow from the Ashen curse. This should probably have a limit of two curses for easy implementation.
I had this same idea yesterday myself. Imagine the oos curse combined with the ashen curse. You just get streams of molten magma flowing out of your eyes.
I was about to say some curses needed to be alone, Like the skeleton curse, (I do think some aspects would be locked out, Like the hungering deep curse, Or tattoos in general, Considering there's no skin to ink in the first place.) But the more I thought about it, The idea of having curses mix with each other for unique effects sound like a really cool idea. For example, You could mix The skeleton curse with the Gold curse, The OoS curse or the Ashen curse to look like a gold, Shadow or Devil's roar skeleton. Or Burning ashes and Frozen ashes to mix together for a wicked fire and ice effect. Or the Drowned curse and the gold curse having the gold patches be rusty.
Adding a curse that makes your tattoos glow whenever a meg shows up would be so cool, I love more subtle cosmetic changes and that sounds perfect to me

Don't underestimate your glowing tattoos idea. I think it would turn the heads of many pirates. For my idea though, glowing reaper tattoos for the top reaper emissary tier would be ideal. THAT would incentivize more reaper-ing on he seas and give those pvp professionals something special.

What if curses had different grades? Example: skeleton curse. Grade one: arm is skeletal. Grade two: many patches of skin are skeletal. Grade three: full body skeleton. Also, which body parts are skeletal can be customized. For example, if on grade two I want my left arm, right leg, hip and right shoulder skeletal, I can choose that.

@@AShinyRay maybe your clothing would be decorated with colourful feathers and things that signify ancients. It technically wouldn't be a curse per se, but it still would be able to be combined with different clothing and appear under the curse tab in the clothing shop and vanity chest.

Honestly the glowing tattoo's isn't your personal must have, i've been wanting those forever! but the Legendary curse that gives the small glowing tattoo on your chest just isn't cutting it... again great video and congrats on getting to 10k well deserved.
4:37 I think in general they could transfer some PVP-oriented commendations from Arena to Adventure for the Sea Dogs. It really bugs me that there are commendations for sinking hundreds of skelly ships but I can murder a million other pirates and get nothing for it. That said, I really loved the idea of glowing tatoos. Might just make me use them more.
@@AShinyRay You mean sinking? Yes, I guess that would be a bit wonky to track, especially since it'd be hard to decide why they actually sunk. But for example just landing kills with the weapons on players could count towards some commendation.
I like the glowing tattoos idea. Honestly while I love the ashen and melted cheese curses there a bit too full on for me at times, plus means I actually want to show off the tattoos instead of hiding them under a coat
Love the Ashen Curse. Grinded it one night, turned up to the crew the next day, when asked to explain myself I just told them I ate the forbidden curry.
Out of the current in game curses, Ashen curse is my fave, and the only one i own. I love the way it isn't just a small thing like the PL curse. But the fave curse i've ever heard of is defiently the Frozen Ashes curse in the video. I'd so wear that if it was in the game.

I think another cool curse would be something like the Pegasus outfit. It reminded me of a curse I heard about in a discord RP called the curse of luxury, or something along those lines, which basically turned you into a gold and marble statue. I feel like it might be a good expansion to the gold curse, as well as A couple other courses that would expand on the gold and (if they add it, because I like that idea too) silver curse. Let’s be honest, we would look bad to the ass walking around with glowing eyes of either gold or white with gold/silver skin. Also just more glowing eye curses. I feel like a good idea would be one for each of the Flames of fate, and a good way to get glowing eye curses would be related to that or maybe the fort of the Damned or whatever the event is.
I like the ashen curse despite its glow being a giveaway of your location, its super cool to see it go through your ribs. but i would love to see the shrouded ghost curse as a standalone, as opposed to being part of a costume
I would really like the ashen lord curse because it looks so dope with the red bones and the red/orange beating heart and If it comes in the game then maybe they can make it that when the player is almost dead the heart beats faster

The curse of the drowned would be goddamn amazing, I think they should add a Davy Jones costume in the pirate emporium as a limited edition cosmetic for a limited time crossover event with potc.
Honestly my favorites from the list are the Ashen Lord and Skeleton curses. I just want to be a skelly! Ghost Curse is a close second tho. My favorite in the game currently has gotta be Ashen or Pirate Legend Curse.
I really like the Gold curse but I wish they added one that was like a partial skeleton, your left or right arm and left leg being all bone, of course it would be hard since you can’t make it gory but it would be cool to have skele fingers
glowing tattoos are something I didn't even know happened but Ive been using a glowing version of the Constellation's tattoo on my VRChat model for a *very* long time now... so I personally would *LOVE* a curse to make that happen in SoT!
I love these ideas, also I think a kraken curse could be really cool, it could be like the black/purple spot on jack sparrow's hand in dead man's chest. I also think it could grow over time on a server, this way over an hour it would even infect up to you chest and maybe your face. You could also get it by killing 25 krakens or something. I think the longer you would wait on a server the bigger this could grow. This could slightly stop server hoppers to but probably not. Also will your name on twitch still be called AShinyRay?
My favorite curse would have to be the gold curse, I love using it to theme when I’m doing gold hoarder missions and pretending I’m one of the specialized gold hoarder captains with unique outfit, ship, and of course the curse of gold.
[Post Script 28/7/21: You get the Pirate Legends curse from being a Pirate Legend now, logged on and found it available in my vanity chest] The Pirate Legends curse was falsely advertised. You could only receive it from being level 50 in all 3 main factions along with also having 100 Renown in Season 1 only. Has nothing to do with the Pirate Legend title and status anymore after Season 1. I was under the impression just got it by reaching level 50 in all factions alone but nope.
I believe that a Forsaken Ashes curse could also make for an interesting idea. The way it would look would have the player's eyes turn orange and maybe have small orange bits on it. I understand that we have the ashen curse, but this would be a "toned-down" version of it for the lack of a better term

Not a curse per se, but able to (with a press of a button) turn the curses off and on. Like imagine... You're in a tough fearless battle, you lose the first round. So you come back for revenge. Your opponents sees you down the lense of their telescope, on the horzion coming from the roar. But somethings off, he takes a step back trying to tell his crew. For what he saw looking through his lense was a pirate... who's be cursed by the ashen, and turned in front of his very eyes. I just think that'll be really cool. Like POTC BP, when Capt. Barbossa turned into a skeleton in front of Elizabeth. But yeah ghost, skeleton and drown curses would be cool!
The gold curse is probably my favorite one, yes it requires a lot of time and maybe it doesnt look that good but damn it made love the tall tales even more

I never thought about silver curse before, but now that you mentioned it I fucking love it! It wouldnt be very hard to add to the game as it would only be a recolour and it would probably revive arena. I like the idea of it being at lsd, but I dont think that it should be earnable in adventure. I could also imagine them changing the keeper of silvered loot commendation or adding a new commendation where instead of 200k you need 1mil silver gained and maybe 300k gold from arena wins(50 wins but it can be less if you play in gold rush or gold and glory). I also think it would go very well with the bluecoat and redcoat of the arena, especially the tsd things since they are blue+silver in color
I love the ashen curse, but I think q curse that gave your character a bunch of knives in his back, like the pirate lord, would be cool, call it "the curse of the betrayed" and I would never use anything else
It would be awesome to see a Reaper curse. They dabble with life-fusion, and as evidenced by the Reaper himself, they seem to have done so to themselves. So, what if the curse not only gave you some cool visual changes, but every time you, F.E, sword lunge and get 'exhausted' your breathing sounds similar to the Reaper, and if you swim to the surface after diving and gasp for air, you can hear it as well. I think that would be an awesome curse.
A good alternative to the skeleton curse could also be something like Wanda's skeletal arm during the events preceding Cursed Sails. Not the whole body, but maybe one or two limbs
Ashen Curse is by far my favourite! It was the first curse I ever got and still the only one i have to this day, it was one of the easiest curses to get out of the 3 but I didn’t have the time to do all the shores of gold tall tales and I didn’t really find them that fun but I absolutely loved the heart of fire and how it played so well with the sea bound soul tall tale and so I Had no problem grinding it out to get the curse!
I really like the idea of a curse with the same look as Bill from Pirates of the Caribbean. I just think that the drowned look with all the sea life clinging to you would look amazing.
I LOVE the pirate legend curse because it was only available to season one and what I would suggest that for the frozen ashes curse the eyes glow like the pirate legend curse

I would love the silver curse from arena, that would be so sick. Also it would match the triumphant outfit really well. My fav current in game curse is the PL one though, because its very minimal but makes you look awesome at the same time.
I wouldn't mind a skeleton curse of some kind. Though I wonder if they would add that particular curse to have a varient that alludes to the curse taking over. Like how Wanda had a skeleton arm only at first.
Speaking of POTC, I would love to see a curse like Barbosa and his crew had in the curse of the black pearl where they turned into skeletons only at night, and also the one Salazar and his crew had in pirates 5, where they were like ghostly as if they had crumbled away but held together by some supernatural force, especially the hair thing, how Salazar's hair looks like its always underwater because of how flowy it is.
Ashen lord curse is basically dark warsmith costume. The best would be the Aztec curse. At night you get a skeleton effect. The next best being a black dot mark curse giving you a rotten black charred effect but it is forced upon you. This will only be activated after collecting a chest that contains your essense that's permanently marked blue on the map for all players (like reapers chests etc). You get a bonus that reapers applies to all emissaries but if another player takes the chest and trades it in. All of the emissary value + xp you stack up in the chest while reapering it goes to who hands it in instead. Makes a high risk high reward reaper that this chest being rare to obtain makes it tempting to hold onto since you appear on the map anyway and loosing it doesn't loose you any of your base reaper rewards but it does loose you a lot lot more. This is also basically a bounty system based on existing mechanics - something I personally have heard people ask for a lot.
What if when you hit 50 in fishing you would get a curse that turn each limb into one of the fish of the sea of thieves. You’d have a spiked beard (pufferfish), scales on chest and shoulders (spalshtail and ancient scale), scrappy fins for ears (wrecker), back bone coming out your back like wwwwwww(battlegills), smooth colorful skin for your leg(plentifin, wildsplash, and pondie), beady eyes (devil fish), extra long peg leg (sword fish), and to top it off you would have cracks in your skin that would glow at night. I think it would look killer but would give off little customization for the player. And would give more reason to fish.
An Idea my friends and I were discussing was to allow mixing curses Within a certain combo, for example, if you had a skeleton curse and the gold curse, you get the Gold Skeleton Curse as just a suggestion. (The Gold Curse is my favorite, mainly due to the time I had to spend to get it)

It would be cool if it glowed for a moment whenever you accomplished something significant, like solving a part of a riddle, opening the athenas fortune hideout, beating a world event, or hitting a milestone in a tall tale. Absolutely LOVE the Wailing Barnacle curse. It is my all time favourite ship set that I can't obtain and possibly my favourite overall since I started playing a year or so after it came out. The second fav is definitely the glowing tattoo curse. Something like that curse would make me so happy as I already don't really wear a lot of fancy clothes and my permanent tattoo set is the Chronicler of Legend tattoo set. Having something a little extra for people who really want to show off their tattoos would be great, especially if Rare managed to make them glow underneath your shirt. As for the name, maybe you could name it the 'Curse of the Glowing Deep'?

4:37 I think in general they could transfer some PVP-oriented commendations from Arena to Adventure for the Sea Dogs. It really bugs me that there are commendations for sinking hundreds of skelly ships but I can murder a million other pirates and get nothing for it.
That said, I really loved the idea of glowing tatoos. Might just make me use them more.

@@AShinyRay You mean sinking? Yes, I guess that would be a bit wonky to track, especially since it'd be hard to decide why they actually sunk. But for example just landing kills with the weapons on players could count towards some commendation.

I like the glowing tattoos idea. Honestly while I love the ashen and melted cheese curses there a bit too full on for me at times, plus means I actually want to show off the tattoos instead of hiding them under a coat

Out of the current in game curses, Ashen curse is my fave, and the only one i own. I love the way it isn't just a small thing like the PL curse.
But the fave curse i've ever heard of is defiently the Frozen Ashes curse in the video. I'd so wear that if it was in the game.

I think another cool curse would be something like the Pegasus outfit. It reminded me of a curse I heard about in a discord RP called the curse of luxury, or something along those lines, which basically turned you into a gold and marble statue. I feel like it might be a good expansion to the gold curse, as well as A couple other courses that would expand on the gold and (if they add it, because I like that idea too) silver curse. Let’s be honest, we would look bad to the ass walking around with glowing eyes of either gold or white with gold/silver skin. Also just more glowing eye curses. I feel like a good idea would be one for each of the Flames of fate, and a good way to get glowing eye curses would be related to that or maybe the fort of the Damned or whatever the event is.

I would really like the ashen lord curse because it looks so dope with the red bones and the red/orange beating heart and If it comes in the game then maybe they can make it that when the player is almost dead the heart beats faster
Ngl the Order of Souls curse is my favorite, but probably because it's the best for tucking and nobody uses it so it gives me a type of uniqueness.

The skeleton curse is definitely what I want most. Although it wouldn’t be a full skeleton, only certain parts of the body would look skeletal. Basically, I want the Curse of the Black Pearl. Skeletal, almost zombie like Pirates.

I would want a shrouded ghost curse which applies the shrouded ghost texture to every meg near you but they still count as the normal megs
Honestly my favorites from the list are the Ashen Lord and Skeleton curses. I just want to be a skelly! Ghost Curse is a close second tho. My favorite in the game currently has gotta be Ashen or Pirate Legend Curse.

glowing tattoos are something I didn't even know happened but Ive been using a glowing version of the Constellation's tattoo on my VRChat model for a *very* long time now... so I personally would *LOVE* a curse to make that happen in SoT!
I love these ideas, also I think a kraken curse could be really cool, it could be like the black/purple spot on jack sparrow's hand in dead man's chest. I also think it could grow over time on a server, this way over an hour it would even infect up to you chest and maybe your face. You could also get it by killing 25 krakens or something. I think the longer you would wait on a server the bigger this could grow. This could slightly stop server hoppers to but probably not. Also will your name on twitch still be called AShinyRay?
My favorite curse would have to be the gold curse, I love using it to theme when I’m doing gold hoarder missions and pretending I’m one of the specialized gold hoarder captains with unique outfit, ship, and of course the curse of gold.

The Pirate Legends curse was falsely advertised. You could only receive it from being level 50 in all 3 main factions along with also having 100 Renown in Season 1 only.
Has nothing to do with the Pirate Legend title and status anymore after Season 1. I was under the impression just got it by reaching level 50 in all factions alone but nope.
I believe that a Forsaken Ashes curse could also make for an interesting idea. The way it would look would have the player's eyes turn orange and maybe have small orange bits on it. I understand that we have the ashen curse, but this would be a "toned-down" version of it for the lack of a better term
The gold curse is definetly the best. It just looks so good and you can combine it with pretty much everything.

I think the glowing tattoo cursesounds super cool. I use the ashen one now cause I like how much glowy parts there are, but with glowing tattoos, I think that'd be so much cooler. I wonder, if they added this curse, would they make the Ashen Dragon tattoo glow pink?

Not a curse per se, but able to (with a press of a button) turn the curses off and on.

You're in a tough fearless battle, you lose the first round. So you come back for revenge. Your opponents sees you down the lense of their telescope, on the horzion coming from the roar. But somethings off, he takes a step back trying to tell his crew. For what he saw looking through his lense was a pirate... who's be cursed by the ashen, and turned in front of his very eyes.
I just think that'll be really cool. Like POTC BP, when Capt. Barbossa turned into a skeleton in front of Elizabeth.
But yeah ghost, skeleton and drown curses would be cool!
The gold curse is probably my favorite one, yes it requires a lot of time and maybe it doesnt look that good but damn it made love the tall tales even more

My favorite is the OoS curse. It's subtle and not too showy. It adds a lot to your pirate without being too garish like the gold and ashen curses.

I'm gonna have to say the gold Horder curse is easily one of the coolest god damn curses, tbf though i might be a little bias by the fact I spent a fuck ton of my life grinding it... 😅

I never thought about silver curse before, but now that you mentioned it I fucking love it! It wouldnt be very hard to add to the game as it would only be a recolour and it would probably revive arena. I like the idea of it being at lsd, but I dont think that it should be earnable in adventure. I could also imagine them changing the keeper of silvered loot commendation or adding a new commendation where instead of 200k you need 1mil silver gained and maybe 300k gold from arena wins(50 wins but it can be less if you play in gold rush or gold and glory). I also think it would go very well with the bluecoat and redcoat of the arena, especially the tsd things since they are blue+silver in color
Yeah, such a small change could really drive the playerbase to Arena for it. Good idea for the Commendation too
I love the ashen curse, but I think q curse that gave your character a bunch of knives in his back, like the pirate lord, would be cool, call it "the curse of the betrayed" and I would never use anything else

for me the curse id loke to see the most is the shady one curse,makes you a shadow with blue eyes so it wouldnt be op in infiltration
It would be awesome to see a Reaper curse. They dabble with life-fusion, and as evidenced by the Reaper himself, they seem to have done so to themselves. So, what if the curse not only gave you some cool visual changes, but every time you, F.E, sword lunge and get 'exhausted' your breathing sounds similar to the Reaper, and if you swim to the surface after diving and gasp for air, you can hear it as well. I think that would be an awesome curse.
A good alternative to the skeleton curse could also be something like Wanda's skeletal arm during the events preceding Cursed Sails. Not the whole body, but maybe one or two limbs
Ashen Curse is by far my favourite! It was the first curse I ever got and still the only one i have to this day, it was one of the easiest curses to get out of the 3 but I didn’t have the time to do all the shores of gold tall tales and I didn’t really find them that fun but I absolutely loved the heart of fire and how it played so well with the sea bound soul tall tale and so I Had no problem grinding it out to get the curse!
I really like the idea of a curse with the same look as Bill from Pirates of the Caribbean. I just think that the drowned look with all the sea life clinging to you would look amazing.
I LOVE the pirate legend curse because it was only available to season one and what I would suggest that for the frozen ashes curse the eyes glow like the pirate legend curse
I think the idea of a silver curse would be interesting, however, I've also thought for a while that a wooden curse would be fairly cool, possibly including small wooden extremities similar to twigs growing out of the pirate.
The skeleton curse would be so simple but so great! It’s one I’ve been wanting for a long time. It would be even cooler if it only came active at night similar to the one in Pirates of the Caribbean.

I would love the silver curse from arena, that would be so sick. Also it would match the triumphant outfit really well. My fav current in game curse is the PL one though, because its very minimal but makes you look awesome at the same time.
The merfolk curse is the one thing I need them to add along with Duke's transformation...well that and fixing hit reg.
I wouldn't mind a skeleton curse of some kind. Though I wonder if they would add that particular curse to have a varient that alludes to the curse taking over. Like how Wanda had a skeleton arm only at first.

Speaking of POTC, I would love to see a curse like Barbosa and his crew had in the curse of the black pearl where they turned into skeletons only at night, and also the one Salazar and his crew had in pirates 5, where they were like ghostly as if they had crumbled away but held together by some supernatural force, especially the hair thing, how Salazar's hair looks like its always underwater because of how flowy it is.
Ashen lord curse is basically dark warsmith costume.
The best would be the Aztec curse. At night you get a skeleton effect.
The next best being a black dot mark curse giving you a rotten black charred effect but it is forced upon you.
This will only be activated after collecting a chest that contains your essense that's permanently marked blue on the map for all players (like reapers chests etc). You get a bonus that reapers applies to all emissaries but if another player takes the chest and trades it in. All of the emissary value + xp you stack up in the chest while reapering it goes to who hands it in instead.
Makes a high risk high reward reaper that this chest being rare to obtain makes it tempting to hold onto since you appear on the map anyway and loosing it doesn't loose you any of your base reaper rewards but it does loose you a lot lot more.
This is also basically a bounty system based on existing mechanics - something I personally have heard people ask for a lot.
What if when you hit 50 in fishing you would get a curse that turn each limb into one of the fish of the sea of thieves. You’d have a spiked beard (pufferfish), scales on chest and shoulders (spalshtail and ancient scale), scrappy fins for ears (wrecker), back bone coming out your back like wwwwwww(battlegills), smooth colorful skin for your leg(plentifin, wildsplash, and pondie), beady eyes (devil fish), extra long peg leg (sword fish), and to top it off you would have cracks in your skin that would glow at night. I think it would look killer but would give off little customization for the player. And would give more reason to fish.

An Idea my friends and I were discussing was to allow mixing curses Within a certain combo, for example, if you had a skeleton curse and the gold curse, you get the Gold Skeleton Curse as just a suggestion.
(The Gold Curse is my favorite, mainly due to the time I had to spend to get it)

I would love the glowing tatoo curse, but not if it was always active. It would be cool if it glowed for a moment whenever you accomplished something significant, like solving a part of a riddle, opening the athenas fortune hideout, beating a world event, or hitting a milestone in a tall tale. It seems like it wouldn't be any harder to implement than picking out things the same way they pick what type of stuff gives season progress and then slapping a texture and maybe sound effect on

Absolutely LOVE the Wailing Barnacle curse. It is my all time favourite ship set that I can't obtain and possibly my favourite overall since I started playing a year or so after it came out.
The second fav is definitely the glowing tattoo curse. Something like that curse would make me so happy as I already don't really wear a lot of fancy clothes and my permanent tattoo set is the Chronicler of Legend tattoo set. Having something a little extra for people who really want to show off their tattoos would be great, especially if Rare managed to make them glow underneath your shirt. As for the name, maybe you could name it the 'Curse of the Glowing Deep'?

Glowing tattoos seams really awesome. It would be even better if the would glow different colours depending on what tattoos you have equipped

I'd love a ghost curse. not sure how you would get it tho and it might be a bit weird tbh. Like you said, it might be a good Athena's level 20 reward. Right now in game I use the skeleton skin however, I think that one looks amazing! but disappointed it cost real money. for the free to play curses I think the ashen curse looks nice, especially when used with ashen clothes of course
