I tried several times to summon The Hungering One during this campaign, but never got enough people. Still sad I don’t have the figurehead to this day.
I don’t think I did (though it’s been a few years, so I can’t say for certain). I only knew 1 other person who played SoT and I just got unlucky by only encountering one other sloop at a time there. I think I tried some open-crew galleon too, but you know how that can be.
I think nothing can bring back the old Hungering Deep magic, It was the first update we had and that's what made it special, I played it 3 times during the "Event", one of my favorite Screenshots I've took came from there. I really wish back the old times, we have so much updates and content now that you can't Imagine how the game was back than. sometimes less is more, remember :)
Different crews actually working together instead of betraying or just outright sinking each other? Damn, must've been a completely different game back then, eh?
Just cuz people will work together to complete an event doesn't mean that once that event's over they will not go back to what they were doing before the event. A couple times during cursed sales we teamed up with another boat and once we finished beating the fleet they turned on us
This gives me hope. Best encounter I've had with randos in SoT so far is merely not attacking each other. Either we know each other or basically these days you can expect to get attacked. 😓

The Hungering Deep came out over a year before I started playing. Videos suggest it was a cool event, if you were able to get the other crew to play along. I will play the sequel, joining crews from Discord. Hunter's Call made me Solo Slooping for month and I enjoyed the fisher family dynamic. They seemed to be removed from the whole big conflict, until now. Merrick never said anything about The Killer Whale being the foundation for the Reaper's Hideout. But factions could not be an different.
To be honest early days when a new item was added or new content came out everybody went to go do that and then they'd go back to killing each other so as long as you got on early enough you'd have no problem finding people to do it with
It was the best time i had on the seas the crew that i was with was awesome the only reason i purchased a xbox was for this game and since it's release still can't get enough thank you rare for the memories 🙏🙏

I played during the event but I didn’t actually play the campaign because I didn’t know what to do. I was a casually player and didn’t even know that there was an update
The figurehead takes me back man.. I crewed with 3 galleons, or 2 galleons and a brigantine I can’t remember. We had an absolute blast keeping each other afloat when we called for help. The absolute carnage that ensued after we summoned the Hungering One was so cinematic. We set up an “I” formation with 2 ships front and back and one ship in the middle. It was the most fun I’ve had in the game so far
We tried messing around with those formations too it works great until the Meg slams a boat into another boat you get both damaged. We ended up at the entire server on one galleon it was a beautiful thing
Merrick is quite the interesting fellow hearing his backstory has definitely made me appreciate him more and look forward to the next adventure even more
Although I never got to play the hungering deep, that doesn’t stop me from being absolutely hyped for the Shrouded Deep! The Shrouded ghost is gonna be sick. Can’t wait to fight a beast no one has ever seen or killed before!
I did not play during the time of the hungering deep but it seemed like a cool co-op thing to do in the early stages of the game. Once again great video keep up the amazing content.
I used to test the game half a year before it got released. There wasn't even a sloop by then. When you joined the game, you spawned on a random Galleon where there could be other testers there as well but it wasn't as populated. And there was ONLY Gold Hoarder voyage. The game had no NPC's to talk to and you didn't go to them and buy voyage. When you joined the game, the riddle or x marks the spot was appointed to your inventory as soon as you joined. There were no forts, no megalodons, no krakens, it was all just a mith. There was no treasure chests, no skulls and no any merchant alliance items. There was only a shop for clothes and maps for future gold hoarders. And now we are here, look how much has the game progressed. It is unbelievable. Rare didn't gave up.
If they will add Merrick's jacket as a reward for this adventure I swear I will never take it off. The fanciest jacket in the entire game in my opinion
Yeah. Megalodon's lore is finally coming back( I had a feeling of this since i saw merrick's tankard in plunder pass). I really hope we will get reskin of the og drum from hungering deep as a memento from this adventure.
I still think some of my best ever pvp battles happened in that week before the Hungering Deep update - With the shark spawn rate turned up to 11 it meant that people weren’t boarding other players ships all the time and the focus was more on your skill at sailing and with the canons, which is where the real magic in SoT pvp lies for me.
I have a theory (more so a hope) that once we "slay" the shrouded ghost we will somehow gain its power to travel between "the world's" and that this is how they introduce the sea of the dammed In a future update.
Thank you so much for this video. I joined the seas at the start of season 3, and knew little of Merrick's legendary tassel with the Meg, but knew it was many veterans favorite event to this day. I do hope they can live up to the status quo they set for themselves, but I trust they will for they know what they are doing
Serik said that if she ever saw Merrick even look at another meg she would leave him, thats what the campaign must be about. We are actually helping deliver divorce papers to Merrick, who then takes us to go hunt the Mer-Man that Serik goes off with. The next adventure will be a custody battle for Derrick.
Hungering Deep was when the entire community, temporarily, realized teamwork was so much more fun than griefing. It was also the best feeling in the world bringing the uninitiated to meet The Hungering One. Oh, the screams.
Great video again. My hype for thursday is unreal pirate legend voyage and the holy grail of adventures. Never did the hungering deep but I'm hyped after this video if it brings the community together once again it will be the best thing since a pirates life.
Loved the hungering deep, got SoT pretty early on, and craved new content. This update was insane, I remember the hype of the Meg and it’s reveal. Unfortunately because of school I only managed to get to the last part on the final day of the event. Had to solo sloop and hope. I NEEDED that figurehead because I couldn’t afford any others (bar the OG banjo kazooie one). Sadly it bugged and the shark just despawned. Didn’t die just disappeared. Absolutely heartbroken that to this day the only thing I have to show for it is the tattoo and the drum
This brought up memories of being one of those poor solo sloopers who did actually get my ship taken over by a gally crew xD, they were really nice about it though I vividly remember the calls of "Hey stop your ship we're stealing it to make you play music!" thought they had lost the plot
Super excited for this update! Never got to play the hungering deep adventure, but trying to play each time-limited adventure I can nowadays. Especially knowing you can miss out on exclusive ship sets and cosmetics. I hope they dont make the shrouded ghost too frequent though. It'll ruin the experience of getting victory over it and obtaining commendations and titles. Kind of like "Pirate legend." Ive met loads of other players sporting that title, but still hardly know anything about the game. (For the record, I still havent achieved this title after 270 hours as 90% of my ingame time is solo slooping)

One thing I regret from this game is not buying it a few months earlier so I could experience the og campaign but hey maybe the next adventure can bring the spirit from the og campaign back

i wish i had the game when the hungering deep was happening because i saw it all over youtube and wanted the game at the time but didnt have a console to play it on, when i finally got a pc and the game i was so sad to find out you could no longer do it
100% agreed about the trailers giving too much away, playing Pirates Life I kept thinking how cool it would have been had I not known we were going for Jack Sparrow from the get go, would have been amazing to go down there and OMG IS THAT! IT IS!!!!!!!.

My very first event. ❤️ I’m still annoyed after tall tales came out, how we never got this as a tall tale and same with skeleton crews and the devils roar. An this update tomorrow I’m hesitant on it being the shrouded ghost. Just because 1 dev on Twitter shared the announcement and said “release the …” and it is normally “the kraken” like in pirates of the C but merrik is involved as is the title. So idk what to expect.
I am really looking forward to this adventure as I didn't play before the first anniversary. Which is painful when looking at the cosmetics you could earn. Looking forward to tomorrows teaser trailer. Hopefully it will be in the same style as the hungering deep trailer, but won't merricks wife hate him after this? You know, as she doesn't like his shark hunting.

I played during The Hungering Deep, but realized quickly it was next to improbable for a solo-slooper to complete it. Sad to say it was one of my biggest regrets on the seas.

My first experience of the hungering one we drove around to all the boats in the server we were like hey we're going to fight the giant shark you want to come with and they were like yeah yeah let's go. And so we gathered up the whole server got the song had all the boats playing it on the way out fought as a group had a great time everyone stayed around and partied for a while after then I went to another server and did it again one of the times we had the entire server load up on the 1 galleon that was fully stocked that was the best ever
i played through the entirety of the hungering deep with a whole server and didn't receive the figurehead as a reward, making it the second time the game had skimped out on giving rewards. The first time was when i first loaded onto the game only to find out that the pre-order bonus of the black dog set was nowhere to be found but its shabby cousin, the mercenary set was in the clothing chest. why does the pirate life have to be filled with pain and disappointment? 😢
Did you send the support ticket to rare about those two times and also the mercenary set was a rare drop only given in Europe when the game came out. Should have considered yourself lucky you had a set most people didn't have 🤣
I wonder when the adventure will start. I don't think they've given a sate and time yet? Maybe monday as it would be the same say the trailer drops, but in the calendar for this month the only maintenance window where they could add the shrouded deep is on thursday, so the adventure would drop the same day the PL voyage does, which seems weird seeing as the veil I guess is acquired by Belle during the shrouded deep and both dropping the same day could mean one can play the voyage with the veil before getting it later in the adventure. Anyways I am pretty excited as I only started playing during haunted shores and have thus always been sad about not having experienced experiences like the hungering deep. Still hoping they don't find a way to mess this up and now also worried about the player requirement should they put one again as I usually solo. (I have just found that unless I sail with close friends - who don't play actively - sailing with more or less random people from some discord even if I've played with them before just ruins - maybe that is too strong of a word - my experience with tall tales and adventures.) I wish I'd been around for the Hungering Deep - from everyone I talked to that played back then, I've only heard good things. I cant say I'm very excited for Shrouded Deep though. I feel like its just going to water down the mystique behind the shrouded ghost. Yeah, its not going to count toward commendations, but after over 2000 hours in the game and still no shrouded, its going to feel like a bit of a cop-out tomorrow when my first time seeing the shrouded ghost is a guaranteed, on-demand encounter. I feel like once I actually do find it naturally in the wild, it will just feel much less special.

I got the game after the Hungering Deep…I really wish I had experienced it.
I didn't play during the update. By the look of it, it saved the game and I'm very excited for the next update!

I really hope that if they do, people who already have the title get a new, different title, because I sailed my ass off for months straight to get that title

My very first event. ❤️ I’m still annoyed after tall tales came out, how we never got this as a tall tale and same with skeleton crews and the devils roar. An this update tomorrow I’m hesitant on it being the shrouded ghost. Just because 1 dev on Twitter shared the announcement and said “release the …” and it is normally “the kraken” like in pirates of the C but merrik is involved as is the title. So idk what to expect.
I am really looking forward to this adventure as I didn't play before the first anniversary. Which is painful when looking at the cosmetics you could earn.
Looking forward to tomorrows teaser trailer. Hopefully it will be in the same style as the hungering deep trailer, but won't merricks wife hate him after this? You know, as she doesn't like his shark hunting.

I played during The Hungering Deep, but realized quickly it was next to improbable for a solo-slooper to complete it.
Sad to say it was one of my biggest regrets on the seas.
well if the hungering deep was to hunt down hungering one maybe the shrouded deep is to hunt down the shrouded ghost? probs not cz its supposed to be rare like shiny pokemons but maybe who knows

you kill all the megs at different locations by shooting flares then you collect their souls to give to belle to summon the shrouded ghost by playing the shanty you don't get the title and people that killed him before get the shrouded ghost figure head
My first experience of the hungering one we drove around to all the boats in the server we were like hey we're going to fight the giant shark you want to come with and they were like yeah yeah let's go.
And so we gathered up the whole server got the song had all the boats playing it on the way out fought as a group had a great time everyone stayed around and partied for a while after then I went to another server and did it again one of the times we had the entire server load up on the 1 galleon that was fully stocked that was the best ever

Dang I've been wondering how to get that speaking trumpet and drum again, I had it but then my account got hacked
i played through the entirety of the hungering deep with a whole server and didn't receive the figurehead as a reward, making it the second time the game had skimped out on giving rewards. The first time was when i first loaded onto the game only to find out that the pre-order bonus of the black dog set was nowhere to be found but its shabby cousin, the mercenary set was in the clothing chest. why does the pirate life have to be filled with pain and disappointment? 😢
Did you send the support ticket to rare about those two times and also the mercenary set was a rare drop only given in Europe when the game came out.
Should have considered yourself lucky you had a set most people didn't have 🤣
And as for the pain and disappointment if life didn't have any Downs you wouldn't be able to appreciate UPS

I wonder when the adventure will start. I don't think they've given a sate and time yet? Maybe monday as it would be the same say the trailer drops, but in the calendar for this month the only maintenance window where they could add the shrouded deep is on thursday, so the adventure would drop the same day the PL voyage does, which seems weird seeing as the veil I guess is acquired by Belle during the shrouded deep and both dropping the same day could mean one can play the voyage with the veil before getting it later in the adventure.
Anyways I am pretty excited as I only started playing during haunted shores and have thus always been sad about not having experienced experiences like the hungering deep. Still hoping they don't find a way to mess this up and now also worried about the player requirement should they put one again as I usually solo. (I have just found that unless I sail with close friends - who don't play actively - sailing with more or less random people from some discord even if I've played with them before just ruins - maybe that is too strong of a word - my experience with tall tales and adventures.)

I wish I'd been around for the Hungering Deep - from everyone I talked to that played back then, I've only heard good things.
I cant say I'm very excited for Shrouded Deep though. I feel like its just going to water down the mystique behind the shrouded ghost. Yeah, its not going to count toward commendations, but after over 2000 hours in the game and still no shrouded, its going to feel like a bit of a cop-out tomorrow when my first time seeing the shrouded ghost is a guaranteed, on-demand encounter. I feel like once I actually do find it naturally in the wild, it will just feel much less special.
I know I'm still new to trying to understand this all stuff but is it possible to still do this campaign today or no?
No, they removed it after 3 weeks. It was the only event that you technically couldn't do, Cursed Sails just reused the fleet battles as world events.
