People may have been thrown off by his approach, but I think his candor and honesty is refreshing. He's being not rude in any way. He's direct, and he makes great songs.
I have loved this guys music ever since I was 14. The lack of ego and acting like he’s all that is refreshing. He seems really down to earth and a talented and nice person
What an absolute doll!! Sweet smart honest and cute! I've loved him since the 80s when I was in Junior high. He is so talented and a deep thinker. This was a treat to see.
👣Amazing interview with John he's always been a singer with talents beyond his own time but I love his song's. I know that it's hard to explain how the music industry can screw you up. I agree with John!!
An artist like John we will never see replicated again. He doesn't get enough credit for also breaking down barriers in racial 80's times full of tension on MTV. The music video for "Cherry Bomb" in my opinion is just as important as "Billie Jean" was to Michael Jackson in 1983.
You’re full of it, Clown. Everyone knows that by the late 1980s, Mellencamp’s music career was nearly over. So what the punk did was make videos of interracial couples. Wow. F that s.
Jack Cafferty on WNBC's "Live At Five" show. Cafferty was excellent during his time there. Didn't care for him as much after he surfaced on CNN years later.
Vintage Mellencamp? Wow I thought I was buying John Cougar American Fool, Nothing Matters and what if it did the entire time. Cassettes, vinyl. Hell I was ripped off. Jesus
LOOKS like 82... PLUS he WAS STILL being called John Cougar so...He DID say he had been at it for 8 years which? I had NO idea his music career started in 75 if that's the case, here.... But yeah, the OTHER 82 video IS here too on YT...
@@duffbaker9554yeah, the quick talking, animation, head movements, etc. Like a clean shaven, younger Manson. Keep in mind that Manson was also a musician and charismatic persona, aside from his nuttier and violent side.
@@jamescon55go find an older interview with a younger Charlie Manson being interviewed by Tom Snyder, you’ll see what I’m saying. The country twang in the voice, the gestures, speaking speed, etc. Manson always comes across kind of angry and bitter, where John is more friendly and approachable, but sometimes he gets a little prickly as well

Correction: made great songs - past tense - 1980's only
Then moved to New York City, and Los Angeles and married a super model.

Mr. Happy Go Lucky.
Say it like it is always.
This is good...
I might own Shady Park for life
I don't blame mellencamp for being his own man he wasn't bought and paid for by any bastards except himself!
Jack Cafferty ?
❤️🥰😁👏👏👏👏
Wrong! It's John Cougar!!
John Cougar's forehead has it's own zip code

Must be the Mendella Effect!
No, no, this is not his 1982 interview, because he does not storm out of the room here. Stop misleading us with that 1982 title webmaster 👎🏻👎🏻

Last I heard , Johnny lives in Cali 🤣
He reminds me a bit of Charles Manson in a way.
John is nothing like Charlie.
NO idea WHERE that came from but..... Ohhh-kay then...Lol 😬
Charisma and speaking-wise, I can see it. The animation, too.

Seems like being an individual and speaking your mind can cause people to say you have a bad attitude. People hate it when you tell them the truth.
people hate it when you already start with a attitude problem

He still hasn't figured out how to treat people.
