Costas is such a terrific interviewer. He's always prepared, asks concise, poignant questions that make his subject have to really think before answering, doesn't constantly interrupt like Charlie Rose and he's a great listener.

Look. I’m a Springsteen fan. Huge actually. I love John. Let’s stop comparing. Bruce had a different style and message. John was and is great in his own way. Both incredible writers , performers. I’m so happy to be fortunate enough to be alive to enjoy them.
    The music of my youth.

He seems humble and likable here. I've seen many interviews where he came off as arrogant to the tenth power.

I live in Phoenix and remember when he came here and someone threw a bottle and hit the side of his head and said FU phoenix I’ll never come back and never did.

One doesn’t have to be Picasso to be an ‘artist.’ Mellencamp’s an artist. Bruce is definitely an artist.

Chestnut Street Incident was a blatant attempt at imitating Springsteen.

The more time goes by the less amazing rock n roll seems to me. It’s still entertaining to listen too, but those times were those times. Creatively with all respect to The Who rock is dead. Why that happened I don’t know. Maybe it was computers. And greed. But from 1955 or whenever Chuck Berry came along until the late 90s flaming out with maybe Collective Soul was one of the last good rock bands I remember hearing. Rock is dead. But what an amazing time it was. Probably the most culture changing, psychology engulfing, prolific, life altering period of music certainly in American history.

I can’t stand these Barbara Walters “gotcha” type interviews. So old school. That’s why Joe Rogan is so popular.
