I successfully changed the thermostat in my 2005 LR3 with 161k miles thanks to your video. The old thermostat was installed incorrectly and no way that could have happened without someone trying to repair the thermostat but not knowing how to do it correctly.
So thankful for your videos! Extremely helpful, and love how you always make it seem so easy. Hope you have a blessed day man! I do all of my own stuff to my lr3, (don’t have the balls to tackle the other rovers yet), and you always come in clutch for me!
I just had my replaced due to very small leak from the housing. I could see tiny bubble when it got hot. Was thinking to try stop leak liquid but after thinking twice i took it to mechanic. They charged me for 3.1 hours. I asked for the old part, took it home and opened to see out of curiosity. The rubber seal has already kind of melted (main reason for the leak). A plastic round plastic part inside the housing which is touching the spring was also broken.
That bleed valve is a plastic PoS. Mine just got brittle and cracked one hot day at 113k miles. Folks recommend upgrading those at high mileage. In a pinch I had to just replace it with a short metal tube and hose clamps.
I'm confused about the two options for this Renault thermostat there is one rated 84 and one that runs a little hotter at 89°c Td4 correctv temp is 88°c but a little hotter will be ok .. Can anyone give me a part number for the 89°c Renault part is it the one listed here
My cuestión is can I buy just the thermostat it self or I have to buy the housing as well because I can find just the thermostat without the housing on Amazon or EBay!
Yes, if all you need is the thermostat you can definitely just buy that. I had to buy the housing because I broke mine trying to take off my fan clutch. But again, you can only buy the thermostat if that's all you need. Thanks for watching and enjoy the rest of your day.
How did you bleed air out of the system, there is a lot of debate in the rover forums. Im about to do this install myself and the heater core replacement.
Looks like this is a petrol engine. In the UK, most of the Discovery 3s/LR3s are 2.7TDV6 diesel engines, and the thermostat is different (and more difficult to change)... you have to remove the radiator fan...

Good tip on the pump. Many people forget that. I work on cars at times but it's not something I do on the regular. Thanks for sharing.
Wow thanks man I will fix mine tomorrow , you just save me a lot of money 💰 🙏🏽
I'm glad I could help and thanks for watching. Let me know how it turns out.

@@oxmanagain do you have the thermostat part number for the land rover lr2. 2008?

You figure this out? Asking because I’d like to know.

I'm not surprised they make a lot of this difficult to change on these vehicles, I still love it though. Thanks for watching.
What symptoms did you have when the thermostat failed?
It will start to run a little hot.
Thank you
BROTHER JUST CURIOUS
WHAT MILES WE NEED TO REPLACE ?
I RUNNING NOW 120,000 FROM 2006
I did this at 170k only because they broke.
@@oxmanagain
So mean I still young for that .
If you go off of my numbers you are.
Is there not a gasket to that ??😃👍👍
The thermostat itself has a gasket. The thermostat housing didn't. Again the gasket is on the thermostat.
👍
