  • How To Pick The Best Ski Touring (Backcountry) Ski In 2021 | Piste Off TV
Beyond your (obviously flawless) technique, skis (and in this case, backountry / ski touring skis) are the first thing that will influence your ability to ski in certain conditions. To the uninitiated, there’s a confusing amount of shapes and constructions on the market; each of which give the ski certain characteristics to suit specific snow conditions.
While the right pair of skis have the potential to inspire confidence over the entire mountain, the wrong pair of skis have the power to strike fear into the hearts of those unable to take full control of them. It’s therefore vital that we make the right decision on our choice of skis, based on things like ability, end goals, and build.

Some great insights there. Never heard about the steep skiing & long radius ski match, and the colour of the top sheet v snow build-up. But all makes perfect sense! Thanks.

Glad to hear it was of use! Let me know if there are any specific videos you'd be keen to see.
Yeah, they're all definitely worth considering. I personally don't get too hung up on the topsheet colour, just try to make sure I scrape them often when touring.

I just found your video -- this is really thoughtful and much appreciated. I've not seen any other video that talks about so many aspects. Thanks.

The music in the video was kinda distracting, maybe turn down volume

Very nice video! Great explanation and answers many questions. What would you advise to buy as touring skis? I was thinking the line vision.

Hey A G! The Vision is a great range of skis, but it really depends on your ski style and where you like to ski the most. Let us know all that and we could recommend you a few pairs to try out.

@@FactoryCollectiveOfficial Hey Mpora, I am currently selling my k2 mindbender 108 ti, which is a great ski but for the alps its not always great in narrow terrain. I am using my nordica enforcers 104 which is a strong heavy ski as well but has a better turn radius, can charge all mountain and floats well and remains playful too. I guess for my touring set up the idea is to really chase that nice pow in the alps, so float is important and I would like to learn some jumps and tricks without sacrificing too much of its ability to charge and remain stable. Playfulness and adaptability seems like an important factor when being out in the wild. I saw that nordica came up with its enforcer unlimited for touring!

    Thanks for the video!
What skies should i get, if i want to do mostly touring on flat, not groomed terrain across lakes, forests with deep snow?
In between there is some small mountains, where would be possible to make some turns, but thats all.

What would you recommend for skiing the northeast woods of New York and New England? Frequently, but not always, icy conditions and thickly forested hillsides? I'm 165 Lbs 5'7" with 25 to 30 pounds of gear. Ski size and dimensions?
