  • We’d just been to view a new custom built house and we on our way home, we were passing Khao-Chi-Chan which we could see from miles away, so we thought we’d pop there for a while and take a closer look.
The Buddha image was carved out of the rock using laser technology. After that, it was inlaid with gold leaf, a process that took months to complete. The Sukhothai era Buddha image is 130 meters high and 70 meters wide, making it one of the biggest Buddha images in the world.
Buddha Mountain, which is also called Khao Chee Chan, is set in beautifully landscaped gardens. There is a number of salas (open pavilions) and pools filled with lotus flowers giving the place a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere.
There is also a number of shrines where Thai people come to pay homage. A number of signs in English language provide information about the history of the place.
