    In case you need to know for future reference, running the hole saw in reverse can help with jerking and cleaner holes in the plastic.

    I really enjoyed this! I've never seen anyone do that with potatoes! I thought why is she putting an egg in those potatoes? Also, really entertaining watching the tree come down! You guys are doing great, loved the chicken Coop too!

    • @calicocowacres
      @calicocowacres  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The first time I made gnocchi, I was also very confused😂 it’s a great way to use up potatoes & extra eggs & I feel like it stretches the ingredients so well. When our girls start laying, I plan to make a bunch of pastas! Thank you so much for such a nice comment & for watching. We’re happy to have you here ❤️

    Love the idea you had for the chicken a duck coops! And on a positive note about the tree, you have firewood for next year and lots of mulch! 😊

    • @calicocowacres
      @calicocowacres  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! And yepp you're so right - we always need more mulch! We're taking the branches & making mulch, sawing up the wood for fall campfires in the garden (it's too hot to have fires here most of the summer so im excited for fall fires!), and all the rotten wood will be turned into future hugelkultur beds ☺

    Tarp on the new coop to keep chickens dry

    • @calicocowacres
      @calicocowacres  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It has a cap on top & they do stay dry in there🙂 they were wet because they were free ranging in the garden when it started downpouring & for some reason they decided to stay out instead of going in their shelter haha

    That storm was WILD. It hit us hard too and we lost a big ol' branch. It's so much work taking care of downed trees! Lots of woodchips for the garden though? Long term compost? Finding the silver lining here, ha! Great Idea with the IBC totes! Very cool!

      Taylor is the kind of guy who watches youtube videos on tree-felling techniques and things like that - he loves it, so this was fun for him to put his skills to the test! It was still quite scary though! I have the materials to do all of the 3 hobbies you mentioned, and I'm very much a novice at all of them, but I'm hoping come fall/winter I can make more time to practice. I also have a whittling set I need to test out! We don't have much downtime (youtube is the only hobby I can make time for currently), but I loveee the idea of relaxing & still being able to do something with my hands.😌
      I'm so hopeful there will be a season in the future where I can reduce the hours I have to work my day job & can focus more on things like sewing/crochet/etc

      start off small, like crochet or knit dish cloths, there are so many TH-cam tutorials for these & most take only a small amount of time, good for learning new stitches too
