What I love most so far about this new park is the lack of minimalist design and adding a lot celestial mixed with steampunk elements to the architecture. Very refreshing Universal! I just hope the park management and operations live up to the hype and allow everyone to experience this (so far) amazing park with minimal friction.
Volcano Bay involves TONS of friction, so that experience plus the amount of moving/kinetic items shown in the Epic Universe trailers has me a bit concerned. But optimistically this evokes a lot of the positive design elements from the best theme park in the world, Toyko DisneySea. Their central spire seems like a more themed and more ambitious version of what Epcot aimed for (and scaled back...and scaled back again). Toothsome at CityWalk is aging well and Celestial Park looks to draw on a lot of those same design notes plus the space elements you highlight. I think it has a good chance to look original and stay fresh for years.
@@QuesoGr7 In this case I'm using friction to describe the resistance present at VB which interferes with guests' desired actions. Primarily I'm thinking of having to park away from the...park...and be bussed to the entrance, the inability to get in line for rides when/if desired, and the wait to depart the park (though that's not an exhaustive list and omits other friction points like security, picking up tubes and lifejackets, lockers, and some aspects of food & beverage). I love VB. I love the theming and placemaking, the layout (once I got a handle on it), and the rides themselves. But I recently visited Aquatica and even on a busy day it was just so much to park, walk in, jump in a line, and then walk out at the end of the day. At VB on an equally busy day had my party wait almost an hour for a bus back to the garage, and most of that wait was underground or in a queue with high fencing blocking us in. I'll happily concede that on a slow day and especially if walking from lodging on-property this is less of an issue, but it's enough of an issue at other times to meaningfully affect the overall experience. It's too bad because Studios and Islands compare favorably to SeaWorld and Disney whereas Volcano Bay is a lot more challenging.
No chance. There will be endless hurdles to jump through, virtual queues, park reservations. If you’re not a theme park influencer or an annual pass holder, the first year this park is open might as well not count.
It's great to see Universal bring back the concept of fully original experiences in a time where every theme park is focused on IP-based attractions, and on such an impressive scale too! Areas like this are what truly make a theme park timeless, memorable, and able to create an identity of its own.
I hope that Celestial Park can eventually be expanded with additional original attractions beyond the carousel and coaster, it's such a great theme and it's so rare to get something completely original from Universal Creative!
Taking the “Universe” out of Universal was such a smart move on their end for this design. Celestial Park looks beautiful on its own!-but having it be essentially just the *hub* for this entire theme park?! I’m looking forward to something extraordinary with this one, Universal 🤩
@@VictorGonzalez-xs9ocyup, and it’s supposed to have more rides in the Florida location too. I wish Texas had a Universal park so I could visit more often
This park Screams the attention to detail and care and color of the 90s which theme parks have been lacking for years now. I am so glad it isnt grey and borning. This is honestly my favorite new design since MGM studios opened in 89.
I moved out of Orlando (and Florida) back in 2014. I'm strongly thinking about moving back, simply because of what Universal Studios is doing with Epic Universe, and the other Nintendo-related IPs they're bringing. No matter how bad a day I might have had, if I have a UOR annual pass, I know I'll end the day on a positive note with a quick trip down I-4. Incredible. Simply incredible job.
This might be my FAVORITE themeing of any land I have ever seen in a theme park. Like EVER! Its so timeless and elegant…captures such a moment in time….yet feels so fresh and current and fits in with so many franchises. WOW Im completely bowled over! Your guys NAILED IT!
This looks like such a well made theme park I’m most excited for Nintendo land but everytime I see something new it just amazes me that universal is literally taking it far beyond people’s expectations! This is definitely next level! I love Disney but they need to invest way more into their parks. Universal is serious competition and I’m pretty sure they are well aware of that. So im hoping they both bring out the best out of eachother to compete.. I’m loving everything about epic universe! I cannot wait! Great job universal !!!!
As a massive Nintendo fan who really enjoyed the mini version of Nintendo World in Hollywood, I can't wait to see the full size version of it here! HTTYD is a close second in terms of hype though.
I'm looking forward to this park. I can't wait to explore the epicness that this has in store. I love the central hub themeing. A throw pack to classic park designs and with the thrilling nature that each land has to offer.
Amazing 3D simulation of what’s to come. That carousel ride ended up being different than what I expected and they have even more stuff to offer like a play fountain and apparently an outdoor concert venue. Still excited to see.
WOWWWW! Let me tell you, I was gasping every 10 seconds watching this. I was gagged, gooped, and my pearls were clutched. Can't wait to experience this in person!
This park is gonna be awesome. And judging by the looks of it, they still have so much space to work with in the future. Hoping for a Lord of the Rings themed area one day!
I would LEGIT DIE if they ever opened a LOTR themed land! But do they have the rights for LOTR to use the theme? Someone needs to just build it already! Another world I have been fiendishly waiting for is a Wonka land like the Johnny Depp Wonka movie! That would be incredible, but I don't know the ins and outs of who owns that franchise.
Beautiful design. This area feels more Star Wars than Galaxys Edge. Like a different planet which is what it should have been not a desert outpost. The portal entrances are designed really well and can imagine what that will look like in person.
The most amazing thing about this park is that it's basically across from my church and even though I live an hour away, I go there every Sunday. I cant wait for this park to open
Love this! Would also love to see a drone fly through of the existing parks with unique angles of Gringott's Dragon spitting fire, and the future, or previous, Hogwarts light show.
Great looking park! this flythrough could have been so much more! seriously Universal, you know where I am! Give me a month and you wont believe how amazing I could make this look!
I was struggling with the concept of this one. Didn’t know what this was supposed to be. But now I understand that it’s the “hub world” I get it. Sort of like a timeless world-between-worlds. Reminds me a bit of the Mediterranean areas of Tokyo DisneySea
Great tour of the parks. Thanks so much for posting. I do wish the fly-through was a little slower in some spots so I could focus a little better on the details. We will be visiting Epic Universe sometime in the Fall of next year. Can't wait!

What is "friction" in this context?

But this theme park is focus on IPs. Universal Studios monsters, Nintendo, Harry Potter, and how to Train your Dragon.

Forget the rides, it looks like just walking around the park would be an amazing experience on its own.
That would definitely kill SeaWorld
Finally, a theme park land that is original and more importantly, absolutely beautiful!
And the ones based on IPs look fantastic too.
This will definitely be remembered as one of the greatest moments in theme park history.
