Too bad they budget cut this land to death. They removed the log ride and the theater, then replaced those two with a one minute family coaster with no theme elements. =/
I was wondering what happened with the original plan. That said. I am grateful. If they had been able to lift their Monster Universe back off the ground then I think they would have went bigger. They're going to discover tho that this part of the park is going to be high trafficked soon enough. Halloween Horror Nights every day!

You not only have given them a new home but you honor the legacies of these great characters preserving them for many generations to come. Epic for sure.
The idea of getting monster makeup done and roaming the land opens up a whole new realm of possibilities. Like imagine the Star Wars hotel done correctly where guests dress like characters and perform excursions around the park. It would add immersion to the land and bring an amazing premium experience. I can’t wait until someone pulls that off. I’d pay to play out a Harry Pottery fantasy lol
Di$ney could've done this and made bank on it... but they went with their sh*tquels, instead of the original trilogy. Eff 'em. You did this to yourself and your investors, Bob. =)

@@jextreme4909 That’s a fair assessment, but the price point could be significantly lower than the Star Wars hotel and still print them money imo. It would have to be a themed hotel that charges per room and not a stationary cruise ship like the Star Wars hotel was. People happily pay $800+ for rooms at Universal’s premium properties like the Portofino Bay, I’m sure Universal wouldn’t struggle to keep a small Harry Potter themed hotel full at that price point.
This reminds me of that one time while me and my family were in disneyland, me and my mom would go on big thunder mountain and my dad would wait on the side. He wore a cowboy hat and some japanese tourists thought he was a castmember in costume. He played the part and took a picture with them 🤣
@superbadgeethan8335 You don’t need to be a fan to enjoy the spectacle. I don’t even know if I’ve watched more than 2 of the movies but I absolutely love the immersion and general vibe the lands give me.
Leave it to Universal Creative to find the solution to a year-round horror-themed theme park land. Give us the monsters, but make it inspiring and uplifting. Can’t wait to experience this next year!
I also really appreciate that they are doing different “intensity” levels. Sure, there will be the Halloween Horror Nights level rides (or at least close to it) for the thrill junkies and die-hard horror fans. But it sounds like there will also be “calmer” things for when you just want to enjoy the spooky atmosphere. Plus, it means your party won’t really have to split up too much if you have differing tastes in your group.
I love how you don't seem afraid to be spooky. If someone doesn't like it they have other lands in this and universal other parks that are more family and some even very kid friendly
I think there's a difference between legit terror and "spooky". Spooky is more of the Haunted Mansion. There's definitely creepy stuff but it's more fun and whimsical. Halloween Horror Nights is an example of adrenaline and anxiety fueled terror. I think this will be spooky but still fun and entertaining.
Universal, you made me actually care about a section of the park I thought, ‘yeah, well that’s neat, other people might like that but it’s not for me’ initially, now I’m like ‘hell yeah! Let’s see these monsters roaming around, let’s ride these rides’ and heck now I kinda wanna go and watch the classic monster films I have not seen. Bravo!
Imagine making a whole dark universe land and it's just tom cruises The Mummy...yeah no way Universal would be that dumb unlike another local theme park 😅
I actually enjoyed "The Wolfman" with Benicio Del Toro. His appearance gave off Lon Chaney, Jr. vibes to me. Also... werewolves are freakin' awesome! ... Except for the "Twilight" movies. Nothing cool in those at all. "But our vampires SPARKLE!" Yeah, vampires are known to do that... just before they burst into flames!
Yep, though I’m not sure if the 2010 remake of The Wolfman counts because I personally enjoyed that; and did show some clips of it so maybe Universal is finally going “okay, maybe it wasn’t a bust because a good number of people really like this one too”; but otherwise at least we got a pretty great video game of The Mummy…too bad the actual movie really sucked Goes to show never truly give up; may not be a cinematic universe but can be an amazing theme park
Honestly, I do truly feel that a cinematic universe based on Universal Monsters could have worked...it's just that they floundered it right at the start.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! I love old Universal Monster films, I especially love The Wolf Man and The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Universal *NEEDS* to make these characters into films!! Here’s to a toast to Universal… …“To a new world, of gods and monsters.” 🥂
THIS is how you do a theme park land. General theme that infuses IP with original storytelling. Take note Disney. It's what Walt wanted, and Universal is doing it.
Idk why you say this like Disney hasn’t done this multiple times before lol. I can’t wait for epic universe to open but my god i challenge some of yall to not make everything about disney and just enjoy the new theme park that’s opening. The whole universal vs disney thing is so played out at this point. Talk about edgy.
@@cosmicwarrior1857 It's a significant point. Many Disney imagineers have left the company and fled to Universal in recent years due to how horribly the parks and resorts are being handled now. Much of the top brass at WDI are now designers from Mariott and Las Vegas instead of internally developed talent and it shows. The quality that we used to expect from Disney will now be coming from their competition more often than from Disney themselves. Disney on the other hand is now only capable of aesthetic downgrades and disappointing/underwhelming additions, with few exceptions. That's the sad state of things. Epic Universe is a project with the fingerprints of many talented imagineers on it, just like The Lost Continent was.

I remember hearing a while back that Disney had a theme park concept called "Dark Kingdom" that was supposed to be centered on the Disney Villains, but scrapped it because they thought it'd be too scary. I wonder if Universal heard about that concept and said "Good idea! Mind if we use it instead?" Either way, I'm excited for this!
That’s an interesting theory! I’ve heard a lot of former imagineers work at universal and now with the younger generation working at Universal, maybe there’s an influence of those rumors?

I have been waiting for this to go public so I can talk about it with my community! Working on this area of the park has been an amazing experience and I'm so proud at the quality we are putting into the land itself, let alone the rides! My personal fave will be the E Ticket, gonna be a blast to see in action.
We can see a scale model of the kuka arm seats behind Gregory. Looks very similar to Forbidden Journey. Same broomstick grab handles. The queue will probably be just as amazing!
@@wajmgirl I can neither confirm nor deny, but I will say we have a lot of love for the many forms these monsters have taken! I personally love Van Helsing, despite some reservations my family has.
4:53 From this shot, there is Frankenstein’s monster, Victoria Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolf-Man. But if you look closer, the Creature from the Black Lagoon is at the bottom right, the Phantom of the Opera (judging from the similar facial features and cape to the silent film) is above the Wolf Man, and either Dr Jekyll or the ghost of Victor Frankenstein is above the Phantom.
CANNOT WAIT for this part of the park, and it warms my hearts to see all the clips from Van Helsing (2004) in here. It’s the movie that introduced me to and made me fall in love with Universal Monsters!
“ We make entertainment for those who want fun, and we also make entertainment for those who want to face their fears” that legit sent shivers down my spine
If Epic Universe does a Halloween event, in the future, Dark Universe will be the perfect place. Horror fans, film buffs, and cosplayers alike will go crazy! Classic horror: when the real terror, was the unknown. I’m psyched!
I'm genuinely shocked they are showing so much of the original black & white movies. I'm a huge fan of the original Universal Monsters. You got me excited, well done.
Most excited for this honestly… since Universal monsters have been around since the studios conception. Here’s to hoping they add on a Creature of the Black Lagoon Swamp Ride in the coming years!!! lol it honestly looks amazing and the fact you can go in and get done up to look like a monster is perfection!
Now others may think differently but I genuinely think the Dementor and big spider on Forbidden Journey are scary. And if I recall correctly Monster Unchained is also a KUKA arm ride. So I have very high hopes for this...
I think they are employing the senses. They mentioned how you can feel the monsters breathing on you. My guess is you might end up up close and personal with some of them
@imaginationstationyt6948 Yeah getting tickets and crowd control is gonna be crazy but I hope they make it at least tolerable to visit the park with decent levels of crowds because Disney doesn't care and abuses "over-selling" tickets imo to incentivize people to buy genie+
This is so hype, I haven't been to Universal in years, but this will definitely get me back. You can really tell how much love and creativity went into this, I bet you can feel it when you're there.
Unbelievable. This is EXACTLY what fans want. The disparity between Universal and Disney -- in Universal's favor -- is astonishing. Their work is bold, overflowing with creativity and energy while Disney's recent projects are lifeless and boring. I'm not saying that Disney has lost its mojo, rather I think the Disney parks have always had a low-energy, low-ambition feel, but the quality of service and presentation made it top-of-class. But as Universal has caught up in execution, and combined it with a more energetic "cool" point of view (and, importantly, is not afraid of thrilling its guests), it is on the cusp (when Epic Universe opens) in surpassing Disney in parks entertainment. If what Disney announces at D23 for California and Florida are re-treads of the lands and attractions from the overseas parks, watch for a collective yawn -- and champagne toasts at Universal as they will know they have won.
Great take on this. The sad reality is that Disney literally relies on nostalgia and their theme parks are the only business they are doing decent in (Pixar just nailed Inside Out 2 so I must mention this success after nearly a decade of misses). Universal creating this theme park is progressive, modern, and what Walt Disney originally based Disney on. Universal is just doing it so much better today as they have continuously taken new technology and used it to push limits and create new experiences. And just as Disney relies on nostalgia and may suffer in decades to come due to poor performance over the past decade... This may well create a new generation of Unviersal Monster lovers that Universal has been unable to get off the ground. Here's to The Wolfman releasing next year and the opening of this park. It is going to be.. EPIC!
@@DrStarlander I'd say their current direction is better than Disney's current direction, but theme parks don't just change overnight. Disney still has the greatest rides and lands they've put out over all these years, and Universal has only taken this amazing direction for the 6-7 years. But at the rate we are going, they will totally surpass Disney at some point
Love how they mix the old vintage feel of the universal monsters with the modern touch of technology!!!! This is the land I have been looking forward to!

I LOVE...LOVE...LOVE this concept of this "Dark Univers" as par of the "Epic Universe" experience. I am looking very much forward to going there when it opens. I think that Universal Studios is outpacing Disney as far as investment in new rides and attractions. And, Universal is every bit as good and some cases even better at executing these new concepts, rides and attractions. I think Disney has some significant catching up to do and this is coming from someone who considers himself a Disney afficionado and have been visiting WDW since 1973,
Obsessed with Wolfman getting a dedicated ride, as well as all the actors that seem to be in place. This is my most anticipated land and I can’t WAIT for this to open!!

Can I just get my tickets now? ahahhaha Honestly, cannot wait to see all that you are creating with this park. High expectations for the lands and attractions!!
They skipped some of the original concepts due to budget. I think they'll discover with time that this part of the park is gonna go harder than Harry Potter

I can't wait for these doors to open.
I hope you find your way either way! Imagineering nowadays seems like a springboard to so many passion projects and other innovative tech/ideas... and we need some really inspired people to save Disney, lol

And the other way around, people flocking at night to the dark universe will make the other areas last packed at for the final hours of operation.
@@Jwall-xi4tq This, Harry potter world and potentially Celestial world could be the best night time parks.
Can't wait for this. My most anticipated area of the park!
Also my most anticipated land! Very curious how the main ride's ride system is going to feel!!
Too bad they budget cut this land to death. They removed the log ride and the theater, then replaced those two with a one minute family coaster with no theme elements. =/
@suaveclt don’t be greedy be grateful
I was wondering what happened with the original plan. That said. I am grateful. If they had been able to lift their Monster Universe back off the ground then I think they would have went bigger. They're going to discover tho that this part of the park is going to be high trafficked soon enough. Halloween Horror Nights every day!
I’ve been waiting for this land for months. And now it’s here in its full glory. Epic Universe is gonna be Epic!
Ya’ll have outdone yourselves!! I was sad when the Monsters were replaced by Minions but boy did you have a plan for them. This is truly epic and now new generations like you said will fall in love with these classics all over again. This is how you breathe new life into old IPs. You not only have given them a new home but you honor the legacies of these great characters preserving them for many generations to come. Epic for sure.
They really replaced a restaurant with a whole land haha it’s so worth it.
Doubtful... The only people that think this will be cool aren't the people that will actually have the money to spend.Ever see the demographics of the people at these conventions? they might be really into it but aren't coming to spend actual money in the collective billions per year. that's what it takes for real success and growth....

I bet there will be Halloween overlays on the rides as well. If so, excited for that too!
That's perfectly fine with me 🎃 🧛♂️

As a horror fan I’ve been waiting for a land like this for so long!!! I literally can’t wait!!!! C’mon 2025!!!
A contemporary theme park where literally everything is new is so refreshing. The dark universe being an addition to it is a dream come true!
Bravo!
This may be the first time in 40 years that I've been excited about an amusement park. =)
Universal is killing it! Actually having characters the people know and having them in the lands people know of ……….
Saying the quiet part out loud!!!!! They aren’t ignoring all the classic characters like another theme park I know cough galaxy’s edge cough
Imagine making a whole dark universe land and it's just tom cruises The Mummy...yeah no way Universal would be that dumb unlike another local theme park 😅
I get the enthusiasm but I guarantee there aren’t that many people under 25 who know about the creature from the black lagoon
@@OfficialSapphirePhoenixyou do realize most of the b roll form this trailer is from the Hugh Jackman movie Van Helsing right?
It's nice to see that Universal finally found some use of the Dark Universe trademark.
Exactly what I was thinking
I actually enjoyed "The Wolfman" with Benicio Del Toro. His appearance gave off Lon Chaney, Jr. vibes to me. Also... werewolves are freakin' awesome!
... Except for the "Twilight" movies. Nothing cool in those at all.
"But our vampires SPARKLE!"
Yeah, vampires are known to do that... just before they burst into flames!
Thinking the same
Yep, though I’m not sure if the 2010 remake of The Wolfman counts because I personally enjoyed that; and did show some clips of it so maybe Universal is finally going “okay, maybe it wasn’t a bust because a good number of people really like this one too”; but otherwise at least we got a pretty great video game of The Mummy…too bad the actual movie really sucked
Goes to show never truly give up; may not be a cinematic universe but can be an amazing theme park
Honestly, I do truly feel that a cinematic universe based on Universal Monsters could have worked...it's just that they floundered it right at the start.
Nahh cuz this is really about to be the best land in the park. That manor dark ride looks crazy
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! I love old Universal Monster films, I especially love The Wolf Man and The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Universal *NEEDS* to make these characters into films!! Here’s to a toast to Universal…
…“To a new world, of gods and monsters.”

This is LITERALLY what Galaxy's Edge did.
LOL.. not to say this land isn't cool.. but what you're saying, Disney literally did, except they got bashed by crybaby Star Wars fanboys for it.
@@carpeXnoctem12 Yeah and it failed spectacularly too! BTW! Are we going to forget the Universal kicked the Immersive land war off with the first Wizarding World over a decade ago!

@@KazudaXiono Yeah, definetly not. Disney was the one changing it, right? With a log flume that is barren and even the CEO hates it? Yeah right. Universal's PIONEERING this game.
Come on Disney that'd been great
This land was way in development way before Disney put out that last-minute bluesky announcement.

A lot of the footage used in this trailer was from the Van Helsing movie, did that play a big roll in the inspiration for the area?

From this shot, there is Frankenstein’s monster, Victoria Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolf-Man.
If Horror Nights ever decides to make the jump from Studios over to Epic, just imagine what they could do with this.
Now that you said it, Universal literally has an opportunity to promote Dark Universe through a Universal Classic Monsters haunted house.
i would love it
With what space bro
I don’t think they ever would because they would be wasting so much unused space in Studios where houses usually are
I believe it's been hinted that when the sun goes down it becomes like an active scare zone.

I really like the idea of The Hounds. Hopefully they hint at special places around the land because they'd be a great way to get people to explore.

This is going to be one of most favorite worlds. To have a world that's creepy all year round is going to be amazing.
EPIC!
Lol Calm down buddy. Universal still has more work to be done to get to where Disney Parks are at.
