- The Fiat Panda 100HP is genuinely one of my favourite cars, and has been on my bucket list to review since day one of the Beards n Cars series, so let's find out if this bargain hot hatch lives up to my hopes for it, and its reputation for being one of the most fun driving experiences around for the money and horsepower...

Take a peek through the catalogue of other cars which I've featured in Beards 'n Cars: th-cam.com/play/PLli-l3TTlwDO_6yAJuczuC7IDDcTr6L9m.html
After watching this review I went out and purchased a 60 plate 100hp, And I have to agree with everything you've said, My Wife and I recently had a road trip and took the Panda, the mpg was amazing, nothing else on the road sat in front of us very long , it was comfortable and a joy to drive ! It was bought as my daily for getting to work but now choose to drive it over my stage 2 focus ST250 🤷♂️ far more fun and costs far less to run, win, win.
Absolutely, cracking little cars. Glad it helped out!
It just proves you don't need millions and squillions of horsepowers to have loads of fun behind the wheel! As James May once said during his Mk3 Fiat Panda review from Series 18 of UK Top Gear, "it's not actually about how much power you have, it's about how much power you can use."
I absolutely love the idea of such a small unassuming car making such a grumbly sound, great review
Yeah great little bruiser, glad you enjoyed it
I have already seen two of them in real life.
We had our car parked next to it
A Toyota Paseo TTE S and a Fiat Panda 100HP - Two rare cars next to each other :D
I was already considering it, now I am pretty sold on this car.
I do like old school hot hatchbacks and this rare Fiat is no exception, reminds me of a Peugeot 106 Rallye despite having two additional doors and a decent cargo space.
actually it has drive by wire, and for me its horrible, i had ford puma 1997 1.7 92kw and it had throttle body linked with pedal by cable, and it was trully sharp at precision on throttle, panda (i got 100hp now) is just unreadable at throttle pedal 😭
Great video - I bought a 100 HP last week for my 31 year old daughter - she has driven a 54hp Panda 169 for the last 6 years and grins broadly at the power, kart like handling and smooth power delivery it allows , rolling easily through towns in 6th gear at 55 km/h, at the end of the town down into 3rd gear and from 3500 rpm the rumbling comes out like with a classic Alfa Romeo DOHC engine and it goes forward "like the wild Pig"....just having fun, just as you would expect from a "HOT HATCH"!
The car is grey, year of production 2008, first owner and has only done 63000 km.....engine compartment, underbody and engine compartment as in a 2 year old car (so much for the fact that Fiat is said to be still unreliable and rusting - just plain B...S... !!!) Great liitel car - much fun - and definitely a car to keep and collect !!!!!
Nice one!
Im honelstly im love with this car. I bought it in 2020 and i was proven that it is one of the most underrated performance cars money can buy. It is very well build and reliable. For 2 plus one family also practical and economical. Im honelstly in shock how comfortable this car can be. The starjet engine produces one of the best sounds for 4 cylinder engine and the performance is more than enough. Looks of the car in white colour is just sublime. I think this car in the future will be cult classic and one of the most desirable old hatchbacks in the market in his category.
Absolutely, I was very happy that it lived up to my expectations 🤘
Owned one for 3 years, Had an astra 1.4t, Octavia vrs dsg (same engine as a mk6 golf gti), Phaeton 3.0tdi remapped to 300bhp and now a Juke Nismo.... The panda is still my favourite
Nice. I’m keen to review a few Skoda vRS Models in future, and considered buying a Phaeton way back. Ended up getting a Touareg instead at the time
One car I suggest if you can get your hands on is the Ford SportKa 1.6, for me is the closest to the recipe of what the Classic Mini had but in the 2000's in terms of handling dynamics, it's a great little hot hatch that barely any youtubers are making content about.
Very underated car, as well as the Puma 1.7
James May would love this 👍
Most likely, lol. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up getting one myself
@7:23 What seats does this Panda have? (and how tall are you?) I drive a 2010 Panda and I'm brushing my head to the roof, my seat has to be slided back to the limit, so my shoulder constantly pushes the B pilar. The driver side mirror doesn't go outward enough and the rear view mirror just takes away all sight because it is right on eye level.. I thought it was doable when I bought the car, but it's just dangerous and uncomfortable..
(I'm 6'4")
I think these were standard 100HP seats, and 6'3 so similar issues typically
You forgot the transformation that is Sport mode 🤘
Honestly, i want this to my next daily after the Jaguar S-Type
One cool little car I've had one as a first car and I've still got it even though I've got faster cars added to my collection including a rs3 8p and ep3 type r the panda 100hp is a cool little fun run around, also mines been reliable only needing an alternator and I've owned it for close to 8 years now
Although mine is terrible on fuel lol and the small tank doesn't with the range, I think that maybe due to my exhaust system and induction kit
Nice, the RS3 is actually on the shortlist for cars I want to feature in this series. Given how much I love both the Focus RS and Golf R32, I could see it being my favourite Audi so far...
Nice review, i wish they sold these in the USA.
I had planned on buying one of these, until i went on a Fiat forum, and seen the amount of users says their Pandas subframe has rotted through, not just a single post, the same issue from 2005 to 2011.
Just B....S...., we have 3 Panda 169 in the family, from 2004 - 2008, all are like new regarding rust - If they die, they have been lifted incorrectly and the water-drains in the longerons have been bent and blocked.....error created by stupid owners and mechanics but NOT the Cars fault !!!!
@@hardyherrmann4154 Only bullshit is what you are saying, have a Google and read the Fiat forums, the owners didn't make the car, its a manufacturing fault, shit metal.
I posted my comment, with facts, you just shouted from your brain, show some control Mrs or MR Herrmann.
Hi, l just sold my 54hp seicento abarth on saturday, on sunday test driven a panda 100 hp to get an upgrade. After watching all the positive revievs i was so disapointed with the power delivery, handling was good but the engine didn't gave the feeling of going fast. Maybe this one had some engine issues.
Could be
Was the sport button working ? Without that being pressed it feels a bit uugggh , totally different car in sport , I miss my 100hp 's.
Great review, makes me want to keep it! 😅
Haha, do it! No one would blame you
A great report. I have a m k 3 And agree with all things you pointed out
Had a few nice cars, But all ways have my Panda and "beard"
Nice one haha
Just got told by Daihatsu Move SR-XX-san that you still haven't wrote back in a very, very long while now. I finally figured out why...
You litrally named my driveway.
Maserati and 100hp and when my dad left his car on my drive while on his holidays, jag xk maserati and 100hp😅
Some of the common issues are wrong and missed the tracking isnt something thats broard its the complete oposite, it has to be so precise that if its out by half a degree you will feel it and chew through tyres. Most tracking places will just spec it up to a regular panda when the 100hp has its own spec which puts it out of spec straight away. Also the rear axle if not looked after will rot away i spent around £1000 refreshing the whole axle, £600 of that being spent of a new set of bilstien b14 coilovers so its still not an expensive job especially if you do it yourself like i have but its still something people would sell the car for or even scrap it in some cases
Nice, lol. If those common issues are wrong though, I'd be curious why two separate specialists when interviewed specifically about the 100HP gave those problems...
@@HSGAutomotive who were the specialists? I wouldnt class myself as an expert but after owning one for 7 years and touching everything on it short of taking the engine and gearbox out i know my way around it and what to look for
@@TheMrPheasey From Evo Magazine’s article here with a couple of specialists: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.evo.co.uk/fiat/panda/14082/fiat-panda-100hp-buying-checkpoints%3famp
That being said, I know from experience that sometimes common stories don’t work out that way, especially with the Touareg V10 which has horror stories galore
@@HSGAutomotive yeah i mean that article is nearly 9 years old parts might of been revised to stop certain issues or maybe they might of not had enough 100hp’s coming through their shop to give accurate common issues, they are fiat specialists not 100hp specialists after all.
Yeah could be different now for sure
Try the older one(1st generation Panda)
Maybe sometime, lol
nearly brought one a few months ago, a proper little go cart but in the end went for a Twingo RS as it was closer and cheaper (slightly) and also fantastic to drive ((extremely practical too)) Thanks for the review.
Ah yeah nice one
If I wanted a lightweight car with precisely 100hp and also cheap insurance and running costs, I'd pick a daihatsu sirion M100 (1998-2003) manual. It revs to 8 grand, I've had one and driven both that and a panda 100hp. Have to say I prefer the sirion, it feels a bit better put together and has better options. Also they tend to be cheaper by a good amount, but a bit harder to find. If you can find a rally 2 or rally 4 version too, those have 15 extra HP. I sold mine for an MX5 that I didn't like at all and I regret it all the time
I’ve always liked the Storia (Sirion) X4, and would be great to feature one eventually. That and the Move SR-XX
@@HSGAutomotive there is actually 2 grey market import storia X4s in the UK. I chatted to a guy on the daihatsu Facebook group about his. He said he had a mate who worked for UK daihatsu in 1998 so he bought one brand new
I never knew the fiat panda was rare, theres 2 in my city
Not necessarily rare, but definitely a special little car
Panda yes, 100hp are uncommon
Only 1600 imported originally apparently. Although that one must be really rare with its Abarth badges.... 🤔
I want sell My Panda 100HP
