Also, I‘be been living with sever gastric issues since I was 7 and have always struggled to gain weight. Sometimes the ulcers make it impossible to eat unless I force myself to. My first couple years of college I was always asked to model for art classes because I was, as you reiterated, “heroin skinny.” Some people paid a lot for pieces I was a muse for simply because I looked like an addict and they were into that shit. When I was a little girl I was so anxious, I was so scared something bad would happen to my mum or me, I had undiagnosed OCD - I was about 7 or 8 I think... my mum gave me a rose quartz stone and an amethyst stone and said they represented love, protection etc. and I slept with them under my pillow. And she told me that they would create a protective shield around the whole house so I wouldn’t have to worry and try to stay awake all night ‘protecting’ the house. It was what I *needed* as a child honestly. Clearly crystals don’t actually do that, like they aren’t making some force field around your house lol but as a kid I felt so much safer with my little stones under my pillow. I also had a meditation tape lol cassette tape that my mum let me listen to every single night. I could not fall asleep without that tape. Floating on a cloud... and essential oils/bush flower essences, tapping (you know that tapping thing...? On different points of your body) honestly all of these things were just used by my mum to help me relax and they did obviously. I think it’s safe to say giving a child something that makes them feel safe and protected (almost akin to a stuffed toy...?) and using some lavender spray on the pillow, putting on a mediation tape, some rescue remedy (idc if it’s placebo haha it worked for me as a child) and doing the little tapping routine... just creating a safe feeling, calming environment/routine for bedtime I think was her goal and she didn’t know I had OCD and wasn’t just a bit of an anxious child. It was nice and helpful... the routine and the calmness and that sort of thing. But that is completely different to what this lady is doing lol wtf using stones and oils (safely) to give you a feeling of protection and calmness is absolutely fine. Asking people to spend almost 300 bucks on bracelets that will apparently mimic meth lol and help you starve yourself huh...? That’s not healthy. Again my mum is kinda into this sort of thing. She has some bracelets (handmade by a local woman in her small town lol not this kind of shit) and she’ll put some essential oil on the little beads and whatever and it’s just a calming thing I think. Which I think oils and little routines and rituals like that can definitely be helpful for that sort of thing, just grounding yourself and feeling calmer and relaxed. But like she would never say ‘okay kid, stop taking your meds and slap these beads on your wrist’ like pls. This sort of stuff makes people who just use stones and oils and whatever in normal way (to help relax, wind down, make a calm environment) look like crazy people bc as soon as you say ‘oh I like these stones, I like these bracelets (not bs beads lol), this essential oil smells really nice and helps me wind down in the evening...’ people are like GET AWAY CRAZY PERSON. Bc they just think of all these dumb dangerous people like old mate up here selling magic beads and encouraging people to starve and go off meds and making absolutely ridiculous claims😭😭😭 nooooooo. Why. Stop. I wanna hold my rose quartz and be like mhmmm feeling calm... while I pop some orange & cinnamon oil in my diffuser and make my room smell nice lol and not worry about people thinking I’m an insane person who believe this kinda shit bc for real most people who like stones, oils etc do not believe this crap and hate people who spew this sort of bullshit. Waaaah.

Loved reading your story but I suggest putting some spaces between your paragraphs! It was a lil hard to read in one big chunk.
But anyway, I feel quite the same way. Obviously crystals and my homemade oils for the most part don't do anything physical (the oils and such may but even that's minute), but for me personally it's spiritual. I associate quite a few crystals and other things with my deities and often use them for prayer / meditation, which is super normal in other religions and practices? So I never get it when I tell people I work with crystals that I'm like,,,, wack or something.

How she talks about these bracelets "blocking her hunger signals" reminds me of what its like when I have issues with my appetite. Not really feeling hungry, disliking and even feeling nausea when thinking about eating most or all foods, and not wanting to eat. That's not healthy. I was taking some medication that made me lose all my appetite, and my psychiatrist took me off them because I was barely eating anything, and I was upset and uncomfortable. These bracelets, if they work (which they don't), legit sound like they cause you to starve yourself, which is unhealthy.

Human health was a lot poorer and many people died earlier, but average time of death and life expectancy is a highly misleading statistic because of the number of children who died before 5 and the young women who died in their 20s (childbirth) dragging the number down. As long as we have records, if they made it past childhood and childbearing, people generally lived to their 60s or 70s. People were more likely to die young than they are now, but the typical person actually made it pretty long if they lived past 5 or 10.
Edit: Not disagreeing with your point of how important modern medicine is, I’m just bringing up that the idea that people routinely barely made it to 30 is a very common myth.

To give another perspective for you, I'm a practicing witch. And I love crystals. But like the majority of witches, I'd point out that crystals are not where you start with when it comes to health. That starts with doctors first--licensed therapists if it's a mental health issue. If you find crystals help in the process of what you do, then awesome, but trying to promote them as something that will protect you from the unnameable virus is appallingly irresponsible. And while they can be a pretty penny for certain kinds, sizes and cuts, those don't look to be uncommon crystals. Even if you're looking for ethically sourced stuff, a piece of Tigers Eye isn't that difficult to purchase for a cheaper price. (And realistically speaking a single piece to a purpose will do.)
Ultimately this just screams greed with no morals, or greed with delusion.

I just want to point out, as someone who loves gemstones, how inexpensive it is to make your own bracelets. Today, for example, I made a kunzite bracelet. It cost me $5.00 for the supplies. Two larimar nugget bracelets, also about $5 each. Etsy is a great source for gemstone beads. Don’t buy into Kim’s BS! Gemstones do have energy, they cannot, however, change your life nor cure illness.
Btw, I’m looking at her “tourmaline” beads. They are FAKE! Omg, WHY???? That is an inexpensive gemstone! Real tourmalated quartz has black needles going through it, not PAINTED on. That’s just disgusting, period. Tiger’s eye is dirt cheap. Genuine gemstones can CERTAINLY get wet

okay this is going to be one of those times I probably comment multiple times. I'm like halfway through right now and had to comment a couple things before I forget:
    1. Having done theater (and you probably know this too from modeling) ANYONE can get their "collarbone poppin" if they pose the right way and/or use the right kind of contour (and you can tell from her pics and videos that whatever else is happening here, she definitely knows how to use highlighter, contour, and bronzer!)
    2. I take adderall for my ADHD and have for almost a year. I really hate her talking about meth and heroin because people compare adderall to those things sometimes and will say things like "oh will adderall make you really skinny? I wish I could go on adderall" and like...no? It CAN suppress appetite but it isn't going to make you underweight by itself unless you're taking too high a dosage. And no, you should not take it for weight loss and yes, stimulants have legit uses, and...UGH.

Elizabeth Lorraine Mitchell YES! Preach girl! That’s the funniest part, our body shape can be easily manipulated for a photo, but the most important lesson I learned in modeling is that the truly radiant and beautiful people weren’t a specific size, but instead had a magnetic personality, joy and a glowing smile (aka, it’s what’s on the inside that counts!!)

If you really want to lose weight, and you really believe this woman's claims, and you buy one of these bracelets, you put it on and you believe it to be working, your mind will do the rest. It's just the placebo effect, a well documented phenomenon, and one already used all the time in advertising, especially within the wellness sector.
PS, as a former addict, the "cocaine meth" comment was something I found particularly disgusting.

Howdy. Fellow former addict turned medical student here. Congratulations on your recovery. And you're exactly right. One thing you don't hear about is that a big feature of the Placebo Effect is that it's temporary and usually dissipates in 6-8 weeks. It's also subject to self-fulfilling prophecy and confirmation bias.

The way Kim prays on people whilst pretending to care about their issues, that’s exactly the kind of person I avoid, you can see them from a distance trying to convince everyone they’re not a bad person, like sis just stop. We see through you.

Isn't it funny how these types of scammers always put so much effort into trying to make others believe their pathological lies about their "good" front?! It's hilarious to me.

Now, when medical equipment tries "to look nice", it usually means "be as discreet as possible without impairing function. I'm especially thinking of diabetes devices and hearing aids

I remember a kids show I used to watch (talking cats in China..I was bored) and there was a nanny who had a special necklace saying that it grants every wish or something like that. Kittens steal it and they find out that they are able to do their skills or hobbies better than before. In the end, it was ultimately them believing that they can do better. She believes the bracelets help when its basically her own will power.

I really think people like this want to be witches but are afraid to just commit. Like all the stone-based healing and all that is super common in pagan religions (and that's fine, because it's presented in that way) but it's like these people don't want to commit to that belief system so instead they try to claim there's some sort of science behind it. EDIT: And I realize you actually say that in the video (I did the cardinal sin of commenting before watching the whole thing oops!)

yup and witches also will tell you that there's more to it than just putting on a crystal bracelet and hoping for the best...

I have been saying this for a long time now. Witches don't even have to be just pagan/polytheists, they can be Christian/Catholic, Secular, etc. So you can keep your Christian faith and be the witch you always wanted to be.

@@Victoria-jd1dx I follow plenty of Catholic witches on Tumblr who would (politely) disagree with you on that one. They even have FAQs on why and how it's possible.

@@cunningtricksterrabbit could you name some of them? I'm pretty sure practicing witchcraft is explicitly forbidden in the ten commandments. Just curious on how they make it work not to go against their religious scriptures.

Something thing I saw: someone showed proof that her bracelets came from Ally express. I can’t remember what video it was but it’s definitely here on TH-cam.

I can make the beads that lady sells for a few dollars. The stones aren’t rare like they claim. A few stones are rare but not hers. So ally express and even eBay sells the bracelets she sells. I bet Amazon does too.

Oddly enough, I'm in health care and also make jewlery. This stuff just makes my blood boil.
There are studies and videos out there where these crystals have been tested in labs and they're completely inert. No electromagnetic fields, no ions created, just stones.
Also, the beads may be "real" as in actually quartz, amethyst, turquoise, etc. buy they're no doubt grown in the lab. Therefore the beads are worth nowhere near the price they're being sold for. At best they're worth about $0.01-$0.05 a piece.
Edit: References to things like TCM or Native American shaman are "appeals to antiquity."

I hate how people like this romanticize and promote the suppression of appetite like it’s a good thing? I take medication that has hunger suppression as a side effect and while it helps a lot with the condition it is designed to treat, the hunger suppression has impacted my life in a lot of ways. It’s not a good thing to not feel hungry because you need to eat to feel okay and be healthy. When you feel like you physically can’t eat on a regular basis you lose weight sure; but you also don’t fuel your body enough most of the time even if you want to and it affects your mood, your energy levels, your stress, everything.
Stop. Promoting. Disordered. Eating. As. A. Weight. Loss. Technique.
