    Actually needed this right now. Was about to rush into joining as an officer, but I decided I should wait and retake the OAR test to get my first option, not just my second. Thank you for the advice!

    I have two grandchildren in the military and one waiting for a waiver to go to Navy basic training. This is a valuable vlog along with, I’m sure, all of your others. This is the second vlog of yours that I’ve watched, and I’ll be sharing your channel with all three of them. It may sound crazy but I subscribed, will be binging on your vlogs. Maybe it’s because I regret that I didn’t go into the military when I was young. Keep up the wonderful work of sharing your wisdom. All the best to you.

    Thanks for taking the time to make these videos, I want to join the Navy Reserve as a permanent resident, I have a foreign bachelor and i am in the process of evaluating that with Span Tran, but the recruiter that I was assigned to, seems to be a bit lost, or nonchalant but of course I could be wrong, no to discredit the person, with all the changes you're mentioning, we need to inform ourselves and what are the options for each individual. I'll be watching you for more, if you have suggestions for people like me who wants to join, it would be great, thanks in advance. PS - Congrats on your bachelors. Cheers!

      Thank you! If one recruiter won't help you. Go to another. That's what I did.

    Hello! I was hoping if you could provide any information todo with the government refreshing rates at the beginning of the fiscal year (October)?
    Just a little background on myself again, I am 31 years old with a degree in Mathematics. I have 5+ years industry experience in autonomous technology as a System Test Engineer as a tech lead.
    I went ahead and visited a recruiters office and spoke with the senior recruiter there about the CWT rate. He told me that the CWT rate was no longer available for this fiscal year (he pulled up the info on his computer and verified this), but he also mentioned that the government refreshes the rates at the beginning of the fiscal year come October. He suggested that I go ahead and try to enlist via DPEP. Or, that I come back in October.
    My plan is to take the PiCat in September and then go and check back in during the beginning of October to see if the CWT rate has availability again

    I have a question about quitting the Navy Reserve. I just got off active duty of 10 years Aunt. I originally signed up for the reserves to get that $20,000 bonus. Now I originally made that decision because that first lump sum of 10,000 was something I needed. But now my question is if I start doing the reserves and get that first $10,000 payment but then I decide to quit. What are those consequences?

    • @NavyTransitionCoach
      @NavyTransitionCoach  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You having to pay back the money will be your biggest repercussion.

    If you quit active duty and join as a reservist, can you change your job?

    • @NavyTransitionCoach
      @NavyTransitionCoach  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can't "quit" active duty but you can finish your active duty contract and join the Reserves with a different job. So yes... you you can.

    Hello. Im interested in joining the Navy Reserve as a civilian, never served before. How many years am I required to serve?

    • @NavyTransitionCoach

      Typically 20 for Active or 20 for Reserves.

    • @NavyTransitionCoach

      A BM is strictly a shipboard job! If you want to work on ships as a civilian, then it's a great job for you.

    Is this only true for the navy because I might be joining the army soon and I don’t think my recruiter told me switching jobs would be difficult

    • @NavyTransitionCoach
      @NavyTransitionCoach  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's very possible. I just spoke to an Army Recruiter at a High School College and Career Fair and he said it all depends on if the position is open or closed.

    I got an 88 on my ASVAB and I thought NUC would’ve been so cool, but I’m going in as a reservist so it’s not an option 🥲 but I’m hoping for something fun and something I can use after I retire from DHS
