Having another mama like myself pursuing her education while being a parent was so inspiring for me. I am a mother of a 4 year old, a wifey and I’m currently working on getting my PsyD while working part time. I am exhausted but it can definitely be done. Thank you Rachel for having them pop in your video. It gave me hope. Love you Rachel!
Rachel 😭😭😭😭 I just seen your post on IG of your photo and I literally cried and still crying! I’m so freaking happy for you! You deserve nothing but the best in your career and life. I just want to give you a hug and tell you how much I look up to you! You are my inspiration and made such an impact on my life especially with how I view things. Opening up about how hard things are, obstacles you go through makes me feel not alone when I have moments of self doubt and cry. I’m full of emotions right now! But just seeing you from the beginning when you were leaving your MA job to now when your doing OBGYN auditions makes me so proud. Just thank you for being you, being real and making me feel like I can too do this especially being a first gen.💙💙💙💙 💙💙💙
Hey Rachel I hope you’re doing better than you were in the last vlog. Thank you for every tip, advice and emotional support you give, I truly appreciate it and look forward to your advices as I get to start medical school next month. With all the videos that I’ve watched you have shown me that things get better with time and patience❤
I know you said you wanted feedback... so a list of things I personally enjoyed in the video :) learning about a new specialty, seeing healthy meals and snacks, relating to procrastinating on personal statements lol, how to take feedback from instructors/preceptor, preparing to make another good first impression, meeting a mom in school :), "sour cream reminds me of desitin" haha, anatomy lesson!
Rachel, I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to comment on one of your videos. I’ve been watching for months now and I believe your content is invaluable. Thank you for being so open, for sharing your knowledge and helping me feel more prepared for my future journey to becoming a physician. You are amazing! Thank you for your honesty. You’ve inspired me beyond words and have opened my eyes to the world of ob/gyn.
I’m still pre med in college and applying to medical school next year and the positive attitude you have keeps me excited about applying and helps me focus on why I’m applying in the first place when I get overwhelmed so thank you!
I don’t have a medical background but the reason I watch your videos is the videos interesting & you are being real\authentic. Keep doing what you are doing.
Yes! What you were saying makes perfect sense. Time marches forward whether you freak out about it or not, so you might as well not torture yourself along the journey.
Hi Rachel!!! Idk if you remember me but I met you last week in the hospital during my family medicine sub i. I just want to say, don’t doubt yourself or your content. You have helped alot of us get through this journey together. I love your content and relate to you. You definitely help me through some low moments. PS - still struggling with my personal statement too :/ I am local here so before you leave or if you ever come back to the area would love to get together and chat! ❤
Rachel Southard, you are a very inspiring person, but seeing what you are going through honestly makes me question if I really want to go into medicine. You are an amazing person, and I don't think I am quite so amazing. You will make a great doctor.
I like how you do these videos cause it does help me to be prepared on what to expect. I was suppose to do my MCAT this month but I wasn't prepared so I pushed it to next spring. Looking into these videos & different positions in the medical field made me rethink my choices on what I want to be because there are cool ones I never thought to give a chance
The reason I love you and most of us love you is you are *real* on camera 🥺 & you are just amazing, thanks for always helping me through times by yt and Disc 🥺❤️ ily
The anatomy model was so interesting! I have gone through many rounds of IUI and always wonder what the cervix looks like, how they find it (mine is tilted apparently). It’s not what I thought at all! Thanks for sharing that
Thank you so much girl, I am glad to watch your video and I seriously feel stressed out with my personal statement. You are right about it, we have to be done and there is no need to be stressed about it because we know we have to be done. it is a good point! Thank you so much!
Thank you rachh this is very important especially for students above all I hope you are not feeling the same as your last vlog we really get motivated when we see you in screen even if the content was normal daily affairs which I think It is much work you do and it , you spread positive energy you actually doo so whenever you feel this way again please remmber we appreciate everything from chitchat vlog to how to do vlog be safe ❤️❤️
I love your educational segments! I learn something knew every time! 😊 (I’m not a med student but a psych student lol) I watch your content because you showcase what it’s like to dedicate your time to a field and all the emotions that come along, and not being afraid to discuss it. Showing us what it means to be human. So just remember to take time every now and then to do things that center you, bring you calmness (yoga, a trip to the beach, in n out, Netflix etc) ✨
Rachel, you are doing beautifully ✨ don’t diminish what you have accomplished. Glad you’re enjoying urogynecology-it’s such a wonderful specialty. It’s really gratifying to improve someone’s quality of life. I fell in love with urology/urogyn during my last NP rotation and I’m hoping to train in the field 🤞
Love that you're doing better for yourself. As a fellow 4th year medical student, it has been amazing watching your progress and seeing that you are along this journey that is similar to mine. Ironically I'm also struggling with my personal statement, I've looked at it so much that I hate it now lol. Totally agree on there being no benefit to applying early, take your time.
Thank you for the anatomy lesson. Thank you for every vlog/video because on days like today when I need the motivation to study, I watch your videos to motivate me ❤
YES!! I felt SUCH a difference with this vlog! Good job!! Interesting what you said about urogynaecology, I loved you showing bits of your notes and slides; it doesn’t have to be the ultimate solution or pro tip, just seeing someone’s current approach is thought provoking… the way you talked about the OR situation, the string tip, your presentation skills, the little anatomy lesson 👏 seemed a little more „you“ which might have taken a bit of courage to show, so thanks!
I LOVE LOVE LOVED thisv ideo PLEASE share more anatomy/ models/ day in the life stuff of what surguries ur doing/ suting etc!! aka i loved the medical stuff
Rachel, you are my comfort person. I’m just in high school right now aspiring to pursue in the medical field. You are such a motivation, encouragement, uplifting and calming person. Thank you showing your true, authentic, raw and vulnerable side. I love you and please take care. Just know that you are fucking special🫀🥹
Me too! I started watching Rachel in middle school and now I'm in high school. Rachel is so inspiring and I get sooo excited to watch her videos because she motivates me to work hard towards my goal of becoming a physician one day. You are awesome, thank you Rachel! ❤

Just the type of vlog i wanna see for those daily dose of motivation when alot of med students and doctors speak about dropping med school n quitting. Been seeing alot of that lately: (
Another great video!! I can’t wait to start rotations in a couple years. Even though it must be exhausting it looks like you are learning so much! I’m excited to one day be in your shoes going through rotations!
I have zero clue how to private message on here but there is a placenta anatomy video that was just posted yesterday from institute of human anatomy. I was wondering since you talked briefly on how to perform a Pap smear, if you could discuss with us what you would look for as a physician when handling with the placenta (or really any related info) ❤
OMG these temperatures! northern middle Germany had like up to 102ºF this summer and I thought it was unbearable :O I can't imagine 116ºF what on earth... I hope you have air conditioning in your apartment and workplace!
DEAR. RACH. You murdered this one!! 🙃 So, when the vlog started and first thing you did was make a bed, I knew this vlog is going to be fireee 🥳 Rach, this was soo motivating and for me one of the best vlogs soo far!! 🧞♀️ Hope you are doing great and just keep this way 🥰
I’m finally catching up on your videos. I’ll always be here! I’ve been working at the hospital full time and all my gynecology or gyn onc patients make me think of you, in a good way. :)
Hehe I’m currently watching all your vlogs from the beginning for study inspo (I’m a dietetics student) and ahh so proud of you, you’ve come such a long way🥰
Another fantastic video! I got so excited when I saw it was 25 minutes long! I loved the educational session, now I know what's happening during my pap smear hahaha
Great video, really enjoyed it. Thanks for being helpfull, and for showing everything so realistic. Keep going and good luck with that personal statement.🤗🥰
Tips about choosing specialty?? Maybe you didn't have to deal with this since you knew what you wanted to be but if you have any tips , that will be great
Hahahaha, Welcome to the Central Valley girly. The heat is only comparable to Chochella Valley in all of California, aint no place like home. You got it though!
Loved it for sure. I really like your longer videos. And finally we get a good insight of what is going on in your hospital and know what to expect for later on.
Question for you Rachel... do your student loans from the government amount to enough to cover housing costs for the time you are in medical school? Or do you need more loans than just government loans? Also... I need your apartment simplicity in my apartment. Lol
With the speculum placement? Yeah you should do that unless you’re doing like FFN or some other test. There’s a lot of things I didn’t mention, like I talk to the patient before speculum placement and such to make them comfortable etc.
Greetings Ms.Southard, Ovarian Torsion is interesting concern which is relevant in Early Development of Ovaries. Nice Work in Declutterring Thoughts in all aspects. With regards, RanjithJoseph (R.J)
