Cheat Sheet: Home Free is a country a cappella group but they don’t stay in their assigned genre. They do all cover songs across the board. Their fan base call themselves Home Fries. Tim Foust (bass) can go as low as G1, not found on the standard keyboard. Some say his low notes are quite emasculating. Has, in fact, blown speakers (there’s videos out there of it). He actually has an impressive 5 octave range. It’s notable, that despite his fame, he’s very humble. He was inducted into the Museum of the Gulf Coast's music hall of fame January, 22, 2020, video of it online. Adam Rupp, founding member and the beat boxer (yes that’s a harmonica sound he’s creating without the instrumentin Man of Constant Sorrow) has won at least two awards (that I’m aware of) in beat boxing. He is said to eat drum kits for breakfast and can be quite trying when on long bus tours. He is also the brother of Chris Rupp (not in this video but earlier ones - left to pursue his own career) is the other co-founder of Home Free. Austin Brown, lead tenor, can hit some high notes (see When a Man Loves a Woman). He’s got that odd quirkiness to him and has a cat named Dawg (don’t know why that’s important to add). He also wrote an original Christmas song (so over due for one of them) called “Cold Hard Cash.” It showcases his comedic and writing talents. Rob Lundquist (glasses and long beard), from my state of Minnesota, has two kids and is considered the lower tenor (Austin being the higher tenor). He does a great job with Sir Mix-a-lot, he’s also the grounding and all around force for the group (because there’s no idea just how out of control and quirkiness the group would be with Austin, Tim and Adam running wild). He also reminds me of Bobby Singer, a character from the t.v. show Supernatural, when he wears his red and black flannel with sunglasses. (Adam) Chance, called Chance so not to be confused with the drum kit (Adam Rupp), is the one making the Jew harp in the background in Man of Constant Sorrow. He’s the newest member, replacing Chris Rupp. More recent videos have him featured as lead singer (see Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison”). He’s is actually a bass but sings bass-baritone in the group. And has an obsession with sea shanty melodies, one that I believe he is at fault for stoking the explosion on Tik Tik in order to get Home Free to make their own “Sea Shanty Medley.” But I can’t yet prove that yet. But I’m on to him. One Home Fry commented, to the Hillbilly Bone cover song, the joke is Chance plays a city folk when in fact he is from a place so far back in the boonies that they have to pipe in sunlight. The best things that make this a cappella group stand out is that they seem to have so much fun in making videos, they’re versatile, and no one member is always center stage (they share the spot light - though Austin can seem over hyper comedic drama queen with flamboyant exaggeration {which we all love him for it}).
So, when is the baby shower? (only a minute in but I just know the outcome!) And yes, he played an imaginary harmonica. The guy at the end (Adam Chance) did the mouth harp sound for the track. Home Free does use a looper so he did that at the beginning and the end but it is looped during their live shows. The group consists of Adam Rupp (vocal percussion and tenor at times from Minnesota), Austin Brown (High tenor from Georgia), Rob Lundquist (tenor/teddy bear from Minnesota), Adam Chance (known as Chance, a baritone but bass to tenor range from Alabama), and Tim Foust (bass with a friggin low bass to tenor range from Texas). Adam and Rob live in Minnesota still. Tim and Austin live in Nashville. Chance lives in LA. All have either girl friends, wives, or families but I have no idea if any of them are Mormon or how they feel about polyamorous relationships! Good luck marrying them all
All “a cappella” which means no instruments. The beatboxer, Adam, is amazing and was doing harmonica, drums and other crazy noises. The mouth harp sound was done by Chance in the beginning and end of the song. (He was also in the back row). Tim, is the bass, and has a 5 octave range and so he can sing super low and sing high too. Lead singer in this song was Austin and Rob is the tenor wearing glasses. Super talented guys. They have so many songs out. They sing all genres of music and can be silly or serious depending on the song. Try Blue Ain’t Your Color, Die a Happy Man, Helplessly Hoping to hear more great harmonies. Good reaction!
OMG, I’m dying, laughing!🤣😂🤣😂‼️ Who cares what a man may, or may not do with his mouth, when You feel And are so amazed by him!? Love that reaction! Too funny!
this matches the Mayday cover song. Up front from left to right Rob is the big guy with the beard he sings second tinner and falsetto, in the middle is Tim he's singing falsetto right now and he's the Bass, Austin sings first tenor, and also sings falsetto! Now the two in the back starting on the left, the beatboxer is Adam, he's magical. Next is Chris, who looks like Leonardo DiCaprio, he sings second Tenor, also Alto which is mid-range, and Baritone as you just heard! Also check out the songs Mayday, Ring of fire, Helplessly hopeful, How Great thou art and Elvira.
The last person they show inhere are two Adams in the group he's the very the video the one who looks like Leonardo DiCaprio, watch his lips he's the one making The voice harp sound, some people call it the Australian didgeridoo sound.
Austin Brown, high tenor Adam Chance (Chance) the baritone making the jaw harp sound Rob Lundquist the other tenor (glasses and beard) Tim Foust is a basso profundo who can go much lower Adam Rupp is the beatboxer, and a founding member of the group. Home Free was started in 2000. To hear a sample of how low Tim can go, watch Ring Of Fire
Check out “Folsom Prison Blues” and “Thinking Out Loud/Let’s Get It On” if you want to hear more from Tim (both High and Low). If you like Adam Rupp’s harmonica, wait until you hear him do castanets 🤯 in “Sea Shanty Medley”. I believe they only have instruments in two songs - “Devil Went Down To Georgia” in which Charlie Daniels plays the fiddle and in on the Christmas Album Full of Cheer “Silent Night” Taylor Davis plays violin. In all the Home Free videos - it is all a cappella.
Oh hun!!! You have been missing out with these guys. Nobody like them ever. Best there has ever been. The deep voice is Tim Faust!!! KING OF THE BASS!!!
If you think Adam's "phantom harmonica" is great in this video, you should give a listen to Home Free's latest video "Workin' For a Living". I think you'll be even more impressed with Adam's harmonica playing.
The bouncy sounds at the beginning and end were actually not the beatboxer. Those were made by Adam Chance (who goes by Chance since the beatboxer is also an Adam). Most of the strange and wonderful noises you hear from the background of their songs are by Adam Rupp, beatboxer extraordinaire, but the other members of the group contribute from time to time.
The Bass singer Tim Foust collaborated with Peter Hollens on "Misty Mountains" song. It's a cover of a song from the Hobbit movie from Lord Of The Rings. Tim brings the earthshaking bass and Peter does the higher notes then in editing he layered his voice over 120 times. I think you'll love it.
Great reaction! I love it when people discover Home Free. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer (official music video), then they have two newer live versions performed with Texas Hill, One Man Band, Thinking Out Loud/let's Get It On, and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole! New sub!
Based on this reaction, I highly recommend two videos for you to watch soon. 1) Your amazement about the lack of instruments: watch “Adam Rupp drum solo” (a feature in their live concerts) 2) Tim Foust (the bass): Peter Hollens featuring Tim Foust “Misty Mountains”
Adam the beatboxer or as I call him the living sound machine can make all kinds of sounds. The beginning and ending sound was done by Chance. They never use instruments because they are strictly acapella. Tim Foust is the bass and that is not the lowest he can go. He as broken sound systems doing live shows.
Welcome to the amazing world of acapella and Home Free. My personal favorites are “InThe Blood”, “Helplessly Hoping”, and “How Great Thou Art”. Their version of “Wgen A Man Loves A Woman” will turn you into Jello. If you really like bass, try Peter Hollens and Home Free’s Bass Tim Faust do “Misty Mountain”. There are so many others, you can’t go wrong.
Actually it was first written down in 1913 and is a lot older than that... although the song did appear in the movie (sung by Dan Tyminski of the group Union Station who did George Clooney's singing voice in the movie).
If you wanna hear a voice go *seriously* low, catch their rendition of the old Johnny Cash piece _"Ring Of Fire"_ ... but use some good *quality* headphones to really appreciate what they do! (They also have a special guest from Pentatonix for that, helping to amp-up the bass a bit more!)
NEW SUB. SOUND AT THE BEGINNING AND END IS A MOUTH HARP [SOME YTBER'S THINK IT IS THE AUSTRALIAN NATIVE INSRUMENT, I CAN'T SPELL THE NAME BUT I HOPE YOU KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT] ADAM ALSO DOES THE HARMONICA IN FOLSOM PRISON BLUES. THIS LAST FRIDAY THEY RELEASED "WORKIN FOR A LIVIN" [THEY SATIRE THE MOVIE "ANCHORMAN"] ADAM DID IT AGAIN EVEN MORE SO.
This is the first Home Free video I ever watched, and I've been hooked on them ever since. If I can suggest something, Home Free sounds ever so much better when you wear headphones or earbuds. No, not a harmonica, but he is making that sound. In their live concerts Austin makes that sound also.
Great reaction and thanks for sharing. Besides being amazing singers, they have a huge sense of humor. Check out 'All about that Bass' for laughs and 'Helplessly Hoping' for perfect harmonies. Yeah they are A Cappella and they won a season of the show 'The Sing Off' for country check out 'Ring of Fire'. Chris
Now, it's time for you to listen to Pentatonix ! Maybe start with their Amazing Grace or their Imagine. (And , don't forget to wear headphones! It really makes a huge difference in what you hear!)
Hi Megan, Very good reaction!!! You may also want to react to Home Free's cover of Johnny Cash's song "Folsom Prison Blues," I'm sure you'll be glad you did...Mark my words!!!
If you think Tim is impressive in this you should listen to his cover of "I can't help falling in love with you"... nobody on this earth should have the range and control and overall vocal abilities that that man has... it's just stupid ridiculous
Tim hits notes that are lower than some speakers can reproduce. Also, there's A LOT going on in a HF performance. You can easily miss juicy details if you're not wearing over-the-ear noise-cancelling headphones. With good headphones, it's just you and the guys behind the closed doors of a sound stage! :-)
Nope...they never ever use any instruments! Deep voice is Tim! Cowboy hat singing was Austin! Beard with glasses was Rob! Guy at the end making the "mouth harp" sound was Chance! Beatboxer doing the harmonica sound was Adam!
His name is Tim that's his name Tim I can't pronounce his last name I don't know how to use pronounce about very well but you are so funny crazy but very attractive try that ring of fire from home free
I understand your frustration with the headphones comments....but...if you do try to go back and re-listen to the music with headphones you will have a whole different experience. Not just for HF but Pentatonix and others too. Great reaction...it isn't fair what Tim (Bass with 5+ Octave Range) and Austin (High Tenor) can do to women with just their voices....

Pure acapella human voice from their own mouth YEAH !!!!
From the Matrix: "Try to realize there is no spoon (harmonica). It is not the 'harmonica' that 'plays', only yourself (actually Adam)."
Austin winked at you at the end.
So, when is the baby shower? (only a minute in but I just know the outcome!)
And yes, he played an imaginary harmonica.
The guy at the end (Adam Chance) did the mouth harp sound for the track. Home Free does use a looper so he did that at the beginning and the end but it is looped during their live shows.

As you may have guessed Tim Foust, the Base, has the power to readjust ladies' undergarments from a distance.
Go to the Homefree site and listen to Adam Rupp doing a drum solo by just his mouth!
All “a cappella” which means no instruments. The beatboxer, Adam, is amazing and was doing harmonica, drums and other crazy noises. Deep voice and 20-mile stare is Tim Foust. I think Adam R's harmonica solo in their new video Workin for a Livin is even better.
Check out Adam Rupp’s drum solo.
OMG, I’m dying, laughing!🤣😂🤣😂‼️
Who cares what a man may, or may not do with his mouth, when You feel And are so amazed by him!?

It's amazing how few reactors I've seen even notice Adam Chance doing the Mouth Harp at the end.

This song dates back to the 1930s but came to popularity in the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou,
Ma'am , your pretty face and your reactions both light up my day .
Not one instrument, all voices! Accapella at its best!
Love your reaction!!💗 Love HF!!💗
Great reaction! I love it when people discover Home Free. He also has a drum kit in his mouth!
With these amazing guys, less is more with their videos. They are entertaining on top wonderful vocalists!
Very funny Meghan. Loved your reaction
Based on this reaction, I highly recommend two videos for you to watch soon.
1) Your amazement about the lack of instruments: watch “Adam Rupp drum solo” (a feature in their live concerts)
2) Tim Foust (the bass): Peter Hollens featuring Tim Foust “Misty Mountains”
You might like their version of Can't Stop the Feeling in which they do an instrumental section without instruments.
EVERY single sound you hear is by mouth alone. Try their cover of "In the Blood".
It's all voices no instruments! They are amazing 👏
You can also watch the TH-cam video of Tim blowing up the speakers with a low note at a live concert in Morrison Illinois.
I have seen this video so many times and mostly as reactors marvel. Once again, you did not disappoint. And nice to meet you
I love when people realize there is no harmonica...no juice harp...no instruments at all! Nice reaction!!!
Yes, he did. Saw a live show and he either didn't have a harmonica or he can fool Penn & Teller on a steady basis.
Adam the beatboxer or as I call him the living sound machine can make all kinds of sounds. The beginning and ending sound was done by Chance. They never use instruments because they are strictly acapella. Tim Foust is the bass and that is not the lowest he can go. He as broken sound systems doing live shows.
With Adam it's called a nomonica. the only time Home Free as a group uses an instrument is in Born in the USA.
Now, do their newest release…”WORKIN’ FOR A LIVIN’ l … Adam’s harmonica solo will blow your socks off 🔥🥰💥‼️. It’s a Great video 🥰👍‼️❤️💥
Aren't they just amazing ?!!
Welcome to HomeFree.
You are now a HomeFry.
Whooooo!!!...loved it ...love you...
If you like Adam's harmonica playing, watch their new video for Working For a Living. Amazing tone and control.
NO instruments...all their voices!
You should also listen to Chance doing guitar in Snow Globe.
Tim Foust is the bass, Austin Brown was the major solo, Rob Lunquist was the tenor, Adam Rupp I'd the best boxer, Adam Chance is the baratone
Try Adam Rupp's drum solo preferably the latest one as he has gotten even better over the years...
Yes it's amazing
When you put the glasses on baby! Mmmmmmmmm 💕
If you want another harmonica solo, check out their latest release Working for a Living.
Omg that was AWESOME!! LOL
The other good reason to use headphones is to eliminate the echo.
Welcome to the amazing world of acapella and Home Free. My personal favorites are “InThe Blood”, “Helplessly Hoping”, and “How Great Thou Art”. 😍 **EVERY TIME I WATCH THIS VIDEO, I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO TAKE A PREGNANCY TEST, & I AM 60 LOL** 😍
😅
This song is from the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" .
Actually it was first written down in 1913 and is a lot older than that... although the song did appear in the movie (sung by Dan Tyminski of the group Union Station who did George Clooney's singing voice in the movie).
Austin is flirting with you ladies again in this one. Did you catch his cheeky wink there at the end 😎😉👍
Him making that sound was a style of Throat singing
If you wanna hear a voice go *seriously* low, catch their rendition of the old Johnny Cash piece _"Ring Of Fire"_ ... but use some good *quality* headphones to really appreciate what they do! (They also have a special guest from Pentatonix for that, helping to amp-up the bass a bit more!)

Ugh, I keep forgetting headphones, I need to try to keep that in mind.

Hi Megan, Very good reaction!!! You may also want to react to Home Free's cover of Johnny Cash's song "Folsom Prison Blues," I'm sure you'll be glad you did...Mark my words!!!
Aren't they amazing!
The girls always like the bass. :p
If you think Tim is impressive in this you should listen to his cover of "I can't help falling in love with you"... nobody on this earth should have the range and control and overall vocal abilities that that man has... it's just stupid ridiculous
I second this. It starts off smooth and nothing fancy- and then you get later on in the song and... omg
Yes, there was NO harmonica. It's ALL human voice, including the sounds at the beginning.
Adam Rupp is considered one of the world's foremost beatboxers, it was all him.
Crazy, huh!
they can all do beat boxing
Yeah, an imaginary accapella harmonica, is that crazy good talent or what?
If one more person tells me to wear headphones...lol!
And I know what a cappella means, I was just in disbelief.
There's a very good reason. You are missing out..
Yes, wear headphones.
Those folks saying you need headphones...maybe you should listen to them? Just sayin.....LOL
If I can remember to get them.
❤❤
Believe it or not there are "no instruments whatsoever" in this song.
That's what acapella means... :-)
Nope...they never ever use any instruments! Deep voice is Tim! Cowboy hat singing was Austin! Beard with glasses was Rob! Guy at the end making the "mouth harp" sound was Chance! Beatboxer doing the harmonica sound was Adam!
There are no instruments in this video...he is doing the harmonica with his mouth and voice.
Well it’s official you are pregnant.🤣🤣🤣
THE VERY LAST INSTRUMENT IS A didgeridoo. ITS NATIVE TO AUSTRALIA.
Always with the mouth, yeah!
Please react to BABY METAL PA PA YA It will blow your mind.
His name is Tim that's his name Tim I can't pronounce his last name I don't know how to use pronounce about very well but you are so funny crazy but very attractive try that ring of fire from home free
But the best song this a cappella group has done is the Butt Medley.
Folsom Prison
Sea Shanty
Hillbilly Bone
Ring of Fire
Are all runner up.
No Insruments
I understand your frustration with the headphones comments....but...if you do try to go back and re-listen to the music with headphones you will have a whole different experience. Not just for HF but Pentatonix and others too. Great reaction...it isn't fair what Tim (Bass with 5+ Octave Range) and Austin (High Tenor) can do to women with just their voices....
Base is Tim Foust and you ain't heard nothing yet!!
Hey can you react to Kenny Rogers song...Flowers on the wall .. covered by Home Free
Listen to Jason Aldean " Dirt Road Anthem"
They are an acapella group no instruments
working for a living by home free it is a cover
So you put on glasses to see better but not use headphones to hear better? LOL Just do it MA!
Cover of a 1913 song
Acapella means no instruments. It is too good. Tim Foust is the bass.
