I'm a subscriber and big fan, I think my biggest problem currently is how to best utilize the AH with specific searches and more importantly, pricing.I would love to see a video of your tactics on buying/selling the AH. Cheers and keep up the good videos!
That's what's awesome about 1.0.3 - you can just decide which act you want to play on and then create a build for that. Act 1 has a 2% chance to drop ilvl 63s (4% on act 2 and 8% on 3 and 4) but you can afford to stack more MF on the earlier acts, and you can probably still get through them faster.
Nice video. I was using the blizzard with the 20% freeze rune and illusionist passive with teleport fracture rune back in 1.0.1 act 2 sewers. Throw in a diamond skin too cause i got a champion group of the insect swarms in the sewers with fast lifeback and teleport. Act 2 was quite the headache, i would consider yourself lucky to have the gear you got to progress so quick. FYI for you all, good weapon makes all the difference.
Thanks for the video. I was surprised that you said we have to do a cookie cutter build but then say inferno wasn't too difficult. I have been bucking the cookie cutter build and am subsequently having a difficult time even with 30k damage and 70k hp. I think that if you find spells you like and want to use them, the difficulty is significant.
I was pretty sure the hydra life per kill technique would get fixed, so I never really bought life per kill gear (except for 1 amulet in my inventory I would put on in case of emergency)
Nice Vid! I heard you asking for builds so thought I would share mine, I am currently solo'ing Hell without many problems at all. Magic Missile (Split), Arcane Torrent(Disruption), Diamond Skin (Crystal Shell), Hydra ( Arcane), Frost Armour (Ice Reflect), Meteor (star pact). My passives are Galvanising Ward (extends armour + life regen), Astral Presence (Arcane boost) Temporal flux (Arcane damage causes slow down).
I haven't found many off-hands that can compensate for the decreased damage 1hs have.. but now that I've replaced all my ias gear, I think I might try a 1h and off-hand for a little while. I don't have enough to buy a decent one yet, but maybe after I get back from vacation.
You can avoid izual's teleport/blink by kiting him by going around those little holes. He only does his blink ability when he's straight facing you within range.
I know your pain, glad I farmed more in last patch cause now those ash pots don't drop crap! Sadly, with my current build I was doing 30k base dps before patch and now 20k afterward thanks to attack speed nerf. Still think attack speed is important though and am focusing build on that. Current setup I went with no mirror image either, tele+fracture, diamond+crystal shell, energy armor+force armor, magic weap+force weap, electrocute+lightning blast (fast attacks), and arc orb+celestial.
Found this build very viable, esp vs. groups. Current passives are Astral Presence, Glass Cannon, and Prodigy. With the high attack speed on the electrocute with prodigy it is easy to regain arcane power quick to unleash 3-4 of the piercing arcane orbs at a time. Timing your teleports and diamond skins are the cruicial part for survivability. If I had better gear I would be stacking as much attack speed then crit chance + arcane power on crit + crit damage. Maybe with 1H wand + source OH!
The idea is to make use of the 15% extra damage intake and the 15% speed nerf that arcane damage can do (because of arcane torrent and temporal flux). I hit a group with the torrent after throwing up hyrda, the are slowed and hydra will do more damage. Meteor is just to kill things quicker with its arcane damage. Magic missle has better AOE with split, and frost armour as a safe guard (the ice also slows). I dont think its quite perfect but im happy its a little bit unusual, no telporting :D
35k... it goes pretty fast when I'm taking damage tho. I prefer to just avoid getting hit. However, I was thinking about it, and after this damage nerf diamond skin might be more viable. The only downside is it doesn't work with illusionist like mirror image and teleport (then again, illusionist isn't as good after the nerf)
Hi Archon, I love your vids very helpful for a rising Wizard. I'm still struggling after the patch in Act II Inferno. My damage went from 16.6k to 12.2k and it costs 2k gold per death. With my skills and gear I have 12.2k Dmg 26k HP and 5k Armor with around 350 resists. What would you recommend for Wiz in my situation trying to improve his gear after the last patch? Should I be farming Act I solo or try to push through Act II? How have you gotten the majority of your gear (find, craft, buy)?
To beat Izual you have to LOS him with the circular pool things on the ground. It's a charge, not a TP attack, so if you keep him slowed with blizzard you should be able to keep one of those circle things in between you.
all your gear is so good!! i need to raise funds to upgrade my gear for 3/4 inferno.. where would you recommend farming? I was thinking either act 1 inferno or whimsyshire in hell. what do you think?
I would just farm act 1 for now. All acts now drop the best gear (ilvl 63). The chance of them dropping on act 1 is half of the chance to drop on Act 2, but you can probably get through act 1 twice as fast...
Also I would have to agree with those useless abilities that you see, I kind of wish instead of having 2 electric type abilities in the primary skill tree, perhaps having like a fire ability section in the there instead, such that the passive conflagration would be more viable/useable. I really was hoping for fire to be a part of the wizard, always loved the fire abilities the sorceress had in D2.
I would say try to get your resists up around 700+ and your armor around 3500+ unbuffed... I wouldn't use glass cannon in act 3 or 4 either, but I'm guessing you weren't
is 792 life regen keeping u in good shape with this build? Inspired by ur act 2 video i've collected a lot of life regen gear so i am at about 2200 per second, which number is a good point to stop at for act 3 and 4 with this build? Thanks, vids are awsome
I agree. He was on the verge of death every 20 seconds on this build because he had no critical mass as the passive skill, or diamond skill on the active. This 20k hp could be fun to play, but I do not think it's viable long term. I would never try it especially on hardcore
they nerfed the damage of act 2, 3 and 4 inferno.. so you don't get hit for %15 of your health as often. Although, you would if you had less resistances, armor, and health.
i use blink with fracture rune so i dont need mirror image and can still use magic weapon and it works just fine cuz moste of the time 1 blink to get away is just ok
It seems that whenever i roll a 1h with a source my resources just run out too fast... the attack speed doesn't seem to really make a difference on inferno since you can't really optimize it due to all the running. I suggest 2h's for running and casting one and running again and also to help keep your arcane energy around
You mean like having diamond skin in a different slot than 1? Just go to options > gameplay and under interface check the box that says "elective mode." I find it nearly impossible to beat inferno without this trick.
lol I myself have a 2-handed mace bought for 4000 gold on the Auction house 834.8 DPS and 2233 Life on Kill. I'm thinking of trying a 1-hander with a source for faster casting as 0.90 attacks per second is a bit slow when trying to kite I think.
I was curious as to what build you used for act 2, I'm having trouble with those enemies that already have a mortar? if you understand what i mean. Then I get elite packs of those that generally just destroy me, regardless of which 4 abilities they have.
Unfortunately, I have began using this build as well... And even though I have significantly less trouble with elite and champion packs, Im finding the "fun" of being a wizard is going down. Its simply Hydra, Blizzard, kite kite kite teleport/mirror image, recast. Im thinking about farming easier acts a "fun" way to be OP and make gold at the same time. Thoughts?
Do you really need high resistance? I dont feel difference b/w 300 and 800 all resistance. I just feel like having a higher vitality and armours are more efficient. What do you think?
The bug with hydra and Life after kill is patched. I used to fill up my hp by casting hydra over and over but no more. Is there any other alternative for wizard to fill up hp?
Hi Archon great video im still having some problems with my wiz i have about 32k dps unbuffed 42k dps with glass cannon and buffed 27k hp about 550 resis on all 1k life regen and still fill like im getting raped by everything on act 3-4 any suggestions is it because my resis is still kinda low or im not kitting them right i have the typical build blizz hydra shock orbs etc.
Since this was pre 1.0.3 couldn't you have used your hydra healing technique with life on kill? Anyway they nerfed our hydra healing it makes me and my wizard very sad =(. Now how am I supposed to survive? I can't chug down potions due to the 30 second cool downs. Also I noticed your boots said "Increase Attack Speed by" instead of "Attack Speed Increased by" does this mean they fixed the bug? I thought they said the fix won't be retroactive which would mean your boots wouldn't do anything?
Also with Hydra healing gone in patch 1.0.3 does this mean we have to rely on life regeneration? I heard Hydras don't proc life on hit or life steal %.
you say you didn't have to skip any champions/elites, I cannot seem to get past champions with base creatures that are very fast and do leaping attacks, they drop my health too quickly as they hit fast and they seem unkitable. I am curious what do you do with these.
blizzard are ruining this game with the nerfs every wizard is basically the same they also said you will skills for each of your own play style but you cant afford to do that now!

You can now find the best gear in any act of inferno. And after the damage nerf, inferno is significantly easier
you make the best diablo wizzard vids on youtube. btw do you ever play d3 with your subscribers
great build video, personal thoughts on mh/oh instead of 2h? potentially more resist with a shield.
thanks man, love the vids

1 to all resistances gives you the same damage reduction as 10 armor

Graveyard, Tower, and festering woods.

Awesome video. Favorited ^_^

mirror instead of diamond skin huh, I think skin would give you more suvivability then mirror

Not level 60 yet but always use the builds you recommend for the acts on inferno for Hell to get used to it when I am 60
they nerfed the damage of act 2, 3 and 4 inferno.. so you don't get hit for %15 of your health as often. Although, you would if you had less resistances, armor, and health.
I find if you use Fracture rune on Teleport. Its like a Mirror image but lets you have that extra slot for magic wep. :)
i use blink with fracture rune so i dont need mirror image and can still use magic weapon and it works just fine cuz moste of the time 1 blink to get away is just ok
Inferno - Act II iLvl 63: 9.3%, up from 4.1%
Inferno - Act III and Act IV
iLvl 63: 16.3%, up from 8.0%
personal thoughts..but, referring to block chance and all resist more than just damage.

hi! i was trying a similar build, but i started running outta time =(
mob had shield+ toxic pool+ mortar+ fire pool

21k damage isn't as much on act 3 and 4
Thanks, the loot is horrible in act I though. Do you think 20k dps and 300resists is enough for act II?
I was curious as to what build you used for act 2, I'm having trouble with those enemies that already have a mortar? if you understand what i mean. Then I get elite packs of those that generally just destroy me, regardless of which 4 abilities they have.
I just started act 1 inferno, I have 4k armor (without energy armor) and 17k dps where should I farm? thanks love your videos btw

how do you switch the skills around in the buttons like 1 2 3 4 5 6 thx i subbed :}
where do we post for the random item draw thing?
yehh 1h +off hand is absolutely expensive to have. but it feels alot better with the stats
Do you really need high resistance? I dont feel difference b/w 300 and 800 all resistance. I just feel like having a higher vitality and armours are more efficient. What do you think?

is there any benefit from using a wand vs. using a normal weapon as a wizard?
What act do you usually farm?
Do you ever have troubles with fast mobs with this build?
Or running out of time to kill elite mobs?
Either that or just roll with diamond skin
blizzard are ruining this game with the nerfs every wizard is basically the same they also said you will skills for each of your own play style but you cant afford to do that now!
i wouldnt try that build without critical mass... tbh i wouldnt try any wiard build without critical mass..
for izual u just gotta run him around those holes and he cant do his gay teleport thingy
whats up
