the astounding thing is not that she learned her vocals in 48 hours we know how talented she is but the fact she put to memory all those complicated lyrics in 48 hours.
One thing to keep in mind: Floor is the THIRD vocalist Nightwish has had. The one who received the open letter was Tarja, their original vocalist. Floor did not replace her...she replaced Anette, the second vocalist. Also, not as much in the US, but in Europe Floor was very well known among Nightwish fans, so the announcement of her taking over the tour was warmly received. Her first band, After Forever, shared a lot of fans with Nightwish and they had toured Europe opening for Nightwish.
Great info for our hosts. Yes, After Forever & NW toured together in 2002/2003. When Floor was introduced in 2012, metal fans knew exactly what they'd get since she was an established name in the metal scene. Not only with AF but also with ReVamp (loved those bands..). Cheers from Amsterdam!
Yes. And I always thought that if Tarja ever left Nightwish, Floor would be the best fit, and so she is. She has been my all time favourite singer and I follow her since the second album of After Forever.
@@reuben8190 It is said (but not really confirmed), in 2006 both Elize and Floor were considered as lead vocals for Nightwish, but Nightwish refused to break up a good band just to ensure their own success. Still amazes me Floor pulled this one off. 48 hours for learning the setlist. After her burnout and losing her former band. Picklebutt winner 🏆 My request: Floor Jansen & Henk Poort - Phantom of the opera (beste zangers season 2019)
46:15 You misunderstood one thing little bit. It wasn't about lyrics and music per se. Translation maybe should've been little bit different on that. Actually he makes music parts first and then lyrics, but in this case it wasn't about that. Tuomas' point was "we never wanted to do something specifically original or unique because originality for originality's sake is just plain irritating". This is very big and old concept in Finland and how every good artist (music, visual arts, everything...) thinks. Art has to come natural way, you cannot start thinking "okay now we do this cool thing" or "now we show how Floor can do this and this". Finnish word is "tekotaiteellinen", I think it translates "pseudoartistic" and they want to avoid that. It's about story they want to tell, try to find the best way to do it with the band they have (skills). This is one of Tuomas's greatest talents, how the songs flow so naturally and smoothly. If you think about it - so many bands have this "we want to be different, look at us!" thing going on and many times it fails miserably. Original 'opera singer in a metal band' was complete accident and they started to develop that style, made songs that felt good at the time and then tried to make the best possible live shows. Nightwish made their name very much because they were so different from other bands, but the origin of that birth was by no means calculated.
I'm not sure if band gave Anette any letter or Email, I think that firiring was dealt within the band. Tarja however got a letter in last show of their that year's world tour. Band members asked Tarja to open that letter after the show. So that she wouldn't do anything stupid, or would break down once seeing all those fans. Anette was somewhat difficult personality to deal with. In beginning she worked hard, but she was very accident prone and then she had weird "flu-like" symptoms in very short notice. And band had couple of shows where Marco did the singing. Elize Ryd was trying out for NW after Tarja left. She wasn't picked but her future looks bright in Amaranthe band. Swedish band that has 2 male vocalist as well. Alissa in other hand is in Arch Enemy band these days. I think she was in band called The Agonist, or The tempest. Since Alissa joined The Agonist in 2009.
BTW, you asked if there's a song that all 3 ladies have sang in NW. I know that at least Tarja and Floor did End of All Hope, Nemo. Not sure if Anette has sang those. But I'm sure our NW army community has someone that can drop songs in a second. That song BTW, End of All hope is a good one. If you haven't heard it yet check 2018 South American tour. It was in Buenos Aires or Bogota, or somewhere like that. It is a good song, but you notice from 1st note that it is early NW song. Tuomas had a specific thing that he liked to do those days. For me that song I wasn't a fan of it at first. But I saw the same concert on YT that I was recommending to you as well. Anyways sorry for the double comments also great reaction, now you guys know more about the band than 95-98% of YY reactors do. Most still after a year and half they mess up names, sometimes you even see a reactor that simply doesn't care the history of any bands that she/he reacts to.(RANT ALERT!) And don't even get me started on reactors that they haven't heard the band or song before, however when they react they slip up and say a name of some singer or musician in group. And many times they sing along, eyes fixed to the screen and there are no subtitles according to them. Okay, rahat went little bit everywhere... LOLZ! Good reaction, have a good day, night, morning. Whatever the times is there. It's 6am in Finland soooo yeah. Good night, I'll dive under the covers and pull my blanket up to my chin....
This video tells about a very important time in NIGHTWISH history. I saw it many years ago and I'm glad that you are reacting to it. It was an amazing feat for both bands to pull it off in Denver. Floor was unbelievable in her part of pulling off the next concert 24 hours later.
Today is Floor's 10th Anniversary of Joining Nightwish, 10 years ago today Floor first took to the stage with Nightwish. The rest they say, is history.
Okay, at 1:34:42 you guys ask a very interesting question: "If there is one [song] that you know all three of them [singers] have done really well.." etc. Yes, I know at least one song that all of them have done, but more importantly - that has decent live video footage of all three songsters. That would be "Planet Hell". Very interesting song that is still on today's setlist, even after Marko's sad departure. I heard TNL (Alanna) mention that she'd like a 3-way comparison and since her wish shall be done, here goes: Nightwish - Planet Hell (Live at Montreux Jazz Festival) - with Anette - th-cam.com/video/r1oHXWLHS7k/w-d-xo.html Nightwish - Planet Hell (DVD End Of An Era) HD - with Tarja - th-cam.com/video/yswh14JISQs/w-d-xo.html Nightwish - Planet Hell (LIVE) directed by Ville Lipiäinen - with Floor - th-cam.com/video/CRJ_csyXosU/w-d-xo.html Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
@@enterthecronic My pleasure ETC, looking forward to a fun comparison. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘 Tip: keep 'em lyrics handy.. (I'd recommend going over them beforehand, offline. Won't take anything away from the reaction and will definitely improve the comparison).
Wishmaster was a Tarja song. Anette's voice could not handle it. Of course, Floor has no problem performing it or anything else. Tuomas has stated that as he writes the lyrics, he hears the music in his head. A TH-camr gave him the nickname 'Metal Mozart'. Mozart also composed in his head. From what I could gather, Nightwish did 9 gigs in the US in May 2022. 'Sleeping Sun' is a ballad that all 3 singers performed. 😊🤘
There are two concert crowds that get to claim ultimate membership in this amazing happening in music history - the fans in Denver and the fans in Seattle.
Both drummers are amazing and top of their field. Jukka was an animal and a showman. Kai is a precision metronome who never misses a beat. Top tier both.
Awesome to watch this again with you. Just to clarify, the show that Anette was unable to perform was Sept 28, 2012 (exactly 10 years ago today!), in Denver. I believe I heard that Elize Ryd of Kamelot had actually auditioned to become Tarja’s replacement with Nightwish before they chose Anette. So she had a little familiarity singing a few songs. (She did 5-6 songs I think). Alissa only two that I know of. Marko did a few of his, and Troy did a couple. Oddly, it was the first time they ever played Rest Calm live. Anette rejoined the band the very next night in Salt Lake City (the only other show they played Rest Calm, ever). That was Anette’s last show. Floor sang at the next show in Seattle, Oct 1. And the rest, as they say, is history!
The "sickness", why Anette didn't sing in Denver had several reasons. First of all she was 3rd month pregnant at that time and insisted the band should follow her hiatus after completing the US-tour as well as the forthcoming UK tour and the concluding concerts in Finnland. On Sept. 20, 2012Tuomas called Floor to ask her, if she will continue their world tour starting with South America next December. When Anette was being informed, that Nightwish will continue the tour with Floor Jansen as lead vocalist, Anette became so furious, that the resulting argument was too intense to get remedied. So Tuomas had to call Floor for another time, whether she is able to join them on stage in 2 days..
And if you want you can watch the process of making the album endless forms most beautifull, its also a long one but amazing to see the whole process of making the album
53:50 It's not the crowd or fans why Nightwis, at least back in the days, didn't tour that much in North America. Back then they said that touring in South-America paid the bills of touring in North America. However, i don't know what's the situation today.
You talked about the drummers and their differences. Marko said in his book that Jukka is old school drummer, and Kai has more contemporary style of drumming. They both are superb, that's for sure.
Every time I see the part where the band is weaving through the halls going to the stage, I think of the Spinal Tap scene where they get lost back stage..."Hello Cleveland!!!"
This was a GREAT reaction! I've watched a ton of them and a lot can't keep their concentration level up for this long, especially since it's in Finnish. Thank you a ton!
Love You Both did this docu about Nightwish 💜🦁🙏🏼...and already congrats for the baby life You Both are excpecting ⚘💞. ..love and Light from Holland to Y'all 🇳🇱🌷🙏🏼
FYI, Jukka left the band because of terrible insomnia. It just got too much for him. Tuomas made him the Nightwish CEO essentially. He's on the business side now. BTW, I read somewhere that Kai was Jukka's drum teacher. Don't know how true that is though. Jukka had his own style but Kia is amazing drummer.
@@johnlindquist1784 yes, Kai said that. But I understood that it was temporary thing, to help a friend. I also might be wrong, memory can be a tricky thing 😂
If you two are up to reacting another Nightwish doc here is good suggestion: making endless forms most beautiful documentary. It’s their first album they made with Floor 🤘🏼
Its was a pure coincidence that both Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) and Alissa White Gluz (i think The Agonist at this time, before she later went on to join Arch Enemy) both were touring with Kamelot at this time, and they happened to be touring together with Nightwish,so they could step in on such a short notice. And Elize had actually auditioned for Nightwish at a earlier point, before they went for Anette Olzon. Here is the only reason to why they didnt go for Elize Ryd as theyr new vocalist, they simply considered her too young. The guys had stated that they was not comfortable by being looked at as the old guys that had a "much younger, attractive female" as theyr new vocalist. Tuomas had already went through alot of stuff with Tarja, theyr own fans and the media after having to fire Tarja. He did not want another round with evilminded backlash,if they choosed Elize. But the somewhat sad part is,that they were all really positive to her vocal abilities. So Elize knew a few songs at the top of her head, while she and Alissa needed papers to have the lyrics for the rest of the songs. And we all know how advanced and brilliant Tuomases writing is,so they had a real challenge ahead. But by doing this,we all embraced Alissa and Elize to the highest possible power. I did not use to be very familiar to Alissa,i knew of her existence and such,i just never gave her a real chance. Elize Ryd i know well from Amaranthe, one of my favouite bands just below Nightwish. But after this, she skyrocketed even higher up on my favourite vocalists list. Elize Ryd is theese days also best friends with every member of Nightwish, has done duets with several of them, and even been on Floors podcast she was very active with during the worst part of the pandemic. I also held Alissa much higher, despite me still not liking growl vocals only at songs, for the most part. But in recent years Alissa has gone onto mixing her normal singing vocals alot more, with her growls. And now i appreciate and love her even more too! I know there is some slander going around about Alissa, that she was careless In The Agonist towards the end,and she was already in talks with Arch Enemy. People that says they have inside information about her and what not. Well,im sure she had her reasons for wanting out of The Agonist and joining Arch Enemy. And when you listen to interviews she and Elize did about this night, and things she has done after this, she comes off as a really sweet and genuine person too. If any of theese 2 ladies had the ego some accused them of having, you know they wouldnt have bothered to risk it all by doing this performance. They knew that they were doing something special, once they went through with it,but mostly.... they did it to save theyr friends in Nightwish from cancelling the concert,or doing playback, wich noone in Nightwish wanted lol. Me at 17:56 "Oh you are fine,Kai actually used to be the drum technician for Jukka, where Jukka is more passionate, raw, driven by showmanship and tricks plus crowd interaction,Kai is a flawless drum machine! So not hearing the difference between them isnt that bad". Me at 18:11 "I take all that back! This is like cursing in the church, lady!" You thought Jukka took off his bandana and got smaller eyes in the process hah? And lost his beard? I see how it is! 19:08 When we say that Emppu is the jokster of the band,we arent lying! He is the guy that makes sure that people are in a good mood, and if they arent he tried to come up with something that will get them in a better mood. Jukka was also a good supporting jokster together with Emppu. Too bad i couldnt see how you reacted to Marko in Alien sunglasses, with a complete stoneface
Regarding Tuomas saying that Annette was not comfortable singing some songs -she had more of a pop voice & did not have the range or capability to sing a lot of Tarja Era favourites comfortably oe well due to the operatic nature.
Actually, Anette caught the Swine flu while on tour in the US. At the hospital, she was also found to be pregnant. There were problems between her and the guys of the band anyhow. They talk about how terrible the environment inside the band was during the tour. When they found out she was pregnant they decided it was time to split because they would have to cancel the rest of the world tour which included South America, Australia, Asia and some closing European spots because Anette would not have been able to travel a lot later in the pregnancy. So that's how Floor ended up filling in and they loved her so much they asked her to be permanent.
As far as I understood it way back then, Anette told them she was pregnant at the beginning of the US tour and they went back and forth for a while over how to proceed. They finally settled on having a temp singer for Anette's maternity leave, from November to January, and then they already had a break scheduled until the summer festivals. That's when they first contacted Floor and she agreed to fill in for those 3 months. But then things got worse between Anette and the guys, topped off by the Denver show. That's when they called Floor again to ask her to come over on the next possible flight, because it was over with Anette.
It is a myth that Annet was fired because she was pregnant. She wanted to stop the tour, the band did not want that and the atmosphere was already not good....
Hey Kyle and Alana! No time to watch w you but I'll tune in for long enough so I count as a view for you. And a like. The singer referenced at the beginning is 2nd singer, Anette Olzen. During a world tour, she became pregnant w her 3rd child. She agreed w the band, that in the case she was unable to continue on the tour, a replacement would be brought in. Rather unexpectedly she vecame I'll and was hospitalized. She went back.on her agreement and wanted the band to postpone tour dates. Some drama ensued and she was dismissed permanently. Floor was flown in...the end.

Very nice reaction. I could not see it when you aired it due to work. I'm sure many have filled in any gaps already. I always think that it was so great that they were a 100% sure she would nail it. The reason for them being this sure is this documentary. They wouldn't have made when they doubted her. They knew! And not only they knew, they knew her, pretty good as a singer. Metal in Europe is not mainstream, you meet many the same bands during the Summer Festivals like Hellfest, Rock Werchter, Wacken Open Air, Grasspop, etcetc. And Nightwish toured these festivals with After Forever. I read somewhere that she ranked 1st on Tuomas list to replace Tarja, but he didn't have the heart to ask her. He didn't want to break up another band to save his. Good thing the universe corrected this a couple of years later. I sae them in June and hope to see them again in Nov.🤘🏽
Planet Hell would be good song to react from all three singers 👍 That other singer who came to rescue Nightwish that Night is Elize Ryd. She is Swedish and have her own band Amaranthe. Nice songs there too, quite different than Nightwish. But before her own band and when Tarja left Elize did audition for being Nightwish new singer. They chose Anette. But there is atleast Nemo singed by Elize here in You Tube 👍
Elize did the majority of the singing at the Denver show, since she was already familiar with many of the songs, having auditioned. Alissa helped out but just did not know near as much. There is a video pieced together of the whole concert.
If you guy's want to see another good night wish documentary watch the day before tomorrow it shows the last shows before original singer tarja before she was fired . Any video from end of an era show was her last show.
17:40 It's really 50-50 between Kai and Jukka. Kai is very skillful technical drummer and works like a clock. But even if you can learn to play almost every song in the world with drums, it's very hard, if not impossible to copy other drummer's groove. And that groove is what i really love in Jukka's playing, because it makes the songs sound extra good.
Nightwish have own wine "Imaginaerum Nightwish" . red wine, Spain 2010.14% vol 750 ml.. They have also own beer "Nightwish", prod. Nokia Panimo Oy. 4,5%, 33 cl. Bottle label there is band with singer Tarja Turunen.
They had lucked out, massively, in that Elize had auditioned to replace Tarja but had somehow, shake my head, lost out to Annette - so she already had practised a number of the songs on the setlist. Also, do yourself a favour and lookup the last performance of this tour! Impromptu, 5 of the current best metal vocalists in the world on the stage at one time!

Picklebutt! ... and this is why I miss Jukka so much. He was the bands spokesperson sorta, and I liked to hear him speak, very articulate. Nice guy all around. Him being so sick was a shame. Amazing drummer As to react to the same song with all 3 singers you can do Nemo. You can react to their first DVD called End of Innocence, 2003 where you can meet Baby Nightwish. First gigs, all the beginnings of this amazing band before all the drama after. I love that one, made me really know them as normal people that suddenly got famous. th-cam.com/video/lBTbr_1MEr8/w-d-xo.html
Nemo would be great (if there is a good Anette version?). Tarja version could be that beginning NW and Floor version from this summers festivals (Hellfest or Deichbrand 2022) so you can see how the band has grown. And no comparison of who is better - all members that are or were in NW have contriputed something essential at the time.
@@annev6895 No one is comparing here. All of the members of the band are valuble and are important in their time for the band's development. I love them all :) Anette has a recording of Nemo live at Montreux Jazz Festival 2012 th-cam.com/video/W9Z8Tn1V_x0/w-d-xo.html

The crowd reactions have been good in America. However they make big $$$$ doing the European festivals during the summer. They did 11 shows in 10 cities in May 2022. Toronto, Montreal, Lowell Mass., NY City, Silver Springs MD, Denver, Chicago, Minneapolis, San Fran, LA. They only play 2-5K venues in NA. In Europe they play 10K - 100K arenas and festivals. This is why the NWA was formed to promote Nightwish in the States and Canada. Unfortunately to hear all 3 singers sing the same song live would mean that Annette would need to sing a Tarja song. This was not her strong point vocally. Floor can pull off the operatic vocals, but Annette has a much different style and cannot really do the Tarja songs very well.

What kind of lunatic uses the word pickle butt. A Nightwish family kind of lunatic that's what kind. No need to thank people for still being with you through that whole video. The true Nightwish Army always stays till the end. I've probably watched 8 or 9 people react to that already and always stay till the end
Kai Hahto is technically precise but not showing drumming style so much. Jukka Nevalainen is absolutely great drummer but his style added there, oh how much I love that. I miss Jukka very much and I never forget him 💕🥁
Interesting thing regarding Wishmaster, don't know if you noticed cause I paused when you mentioned it and havent watched the rest yet, later on there's footage of Floor singing that exact song in the same tour. draw your own conclusions but Tuomas mentioning that 'they' don't care for the song anymore is obviously nonsense... I am always baffled by reactors not mentioning it cause it's so glaringly obvious Anette just refused to sing it or couldn't properly or a combination of both and the rest of the band just write it off as a song they just don't wanna play, while obviously with another vocalist, it's suddenly on the setlist again.... Almost a little bit passive aggressive the way they edit Floor's wish master bit in in the documentary, if you ask me and it always strikes me, yet no one ever mentions it
Wishmaster isn’t actually a song I have fully heard yet. After looking up the lyrics, I remember the song now though! I haven’t even heard Anette sing either. We are brand new to Nightwish. I do remember that comment about a song ‘they’ don’t care for anymore in the documentary. Anytime a new song came on that documentary I must admit, I tried to not remember it so it wouldn’t spoil our song reaction to it when we got to it. I am here to enjoy, not judge! :)
28:28 Tuomas talks kinda loosey-goosey Finnish there and it's really hard to translate word-for-word what he says. Translation is way off in my opinion - "don't care" is not what Tuomas meant. Clearly he means that this comes from Anette. She doesn't feel comfortable singing Wishmaster and they don't want to force it.
And if you want to understand what Tuomas want to say with Nightwish, look to the first documentary, "The End of Innocence" this is the link. th-cam.com/video/lBTbr_1MEr8/w-d-xo.html

And don't even get me started on reactors that they haven't heard the band or song before, however when they react they slip up and say a name of some singer or musician in group.
I am so happy you two chose to react to this video. It is an important part of learning how this band embraced Floor. Wonderful.
Hey Richard! We are glad we went through with it too!
At that time Alissa and Elize were just guests at Kamelot, later Alissa joined Arch Enemy and Elize already had her own band Amaranthe
I heard TNL (Alanna) mention that she'd like a 3-way comparison and since her wish shall be done, here goes:
Nightwish - Planet Hell (Live at Montreux Jazz Festival) - with Anette - th-cam.com/video/r1oHXWLHS7k/w-d-xo.html
Nightwish - Planet Hell (DVD End Of An Era) HD - with Tarja - th-cam.com/video/yswh14JISQs/w-d-xo.html
Nightwish - Planet Hell (LIVE) directed by Ville Lipiäinen - with Floor - th-cam.com/video/CRJ_csyXosU/w-d-xo.html
Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
thanks for this!!
@@enterthecronic My pleasure ETC, looking forward to a fun comparison. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
Tip: keep 'em lyrics handy..
That was the best 2 hours for me.
Great Documentary, good people and Nightwish Army!!!!
NWSU🤘😎🤘.
Thanks, Timo!
Kent you made it!
I saw them in Toronto on May 4th of this year…. And the force was with us!
It was sooooooo good. I had high expectations and they were all exceeded.
Nightwish is Tuomas baby and if any body leave the Band, it is still his project and the person, who still stand on his side on the whole is Emppu.
And she made it!!
Yours in an Empty Hope was written after Floor joined the band, so not performed until about 2015.
no idea if u look old comments but for me again watching this coz it make me happy while strugling with cancer so ty u 2 u rock
Much love!!
So great you did this, it gives you a lot more understanding.
Liked watching it with you again.
Thank you!! I’ll make sure to make the subtitles legible for people!
Kai was Jukkas mentor and is called the human metronome 😎🇧🇻
Love You Both did this docu about Nightwish 💜🦁🙏🏼...and already congrats for the baby life You Both are excpecting ⚘💞. ..love and Light from Holland to Y'all 🇳🇱🌷🙏🏼
Thank you so much! Blessings brother!!
And they have now a new bass-player too
Tuomas found his shangri-la when Floor joined Nightwish 🙏😊👍
One of the few times that miss Gluz have not been growling 🤣😎🇧🇻
FYI, Jukka left the band because of terrible insomnia. It just got too much for him. Tuomas made him the Nightwish CEO essentially. He's on the business side now. BTW, I read somewhere that Kai was Jukka's drum teacher. Don't know how true that is though. Jukka had his own style but Kia is amazing drummer.
I think Kai was more of a mentor to Jukka but I can be wrong
@@AndyMagnusson70 You are probable right. I know Jukka had said Kai was important in getting him to become a drummer.
I believe I heard Kai say that he was Jukka's drum tech for a time. I know they were good friends.
@@johnlindquist1784 yes, Kai said that. But I understood that it was temporary thing, to help a friend. I also might be wrong, memory can be a tricky thing 😂
@@johnlindquist1784 tjat is actually true. He was his drum tech
Pickle Butt, I am late, but was working earlier. Glad you guys are enjoying the journey. Just glad you are loving the music.
I watched the whole szhabang with my picklebutt! It was really cool and honest reaction!
It really makes me laugh when other people say Picklebutt! lol Thank you! We try to be as honest as we can!
21:56. Why we all love Floor…
Anette pregnant->fired. Floor pregnant_> gets a verse in a song.
@@puarterquonder Haha, great comparison. One little thing tho: Floor wasn't pregnant while touring. Big difference for a band.
@@puarterquonder But Floor got pregnant during a 2 1/2 year hiatus not in the middle of a world tour.
Nice one guys, enjoyed watching that with you 🤘
Thank you for enjoying it with us!!
These documentaries make you appreciate them even more. Welcome to the hole. Dave south africa.

Look out for the “special keyword” at the end of the video that I announce to win an instant reaction request! First 5 comments on the live chat or video comments saying this “special keyword” will get a request done for them this week!
Thank you Little Raven for your message! Rock out hard for me will you?!
@@enterthecronic don't worry. I definitely did in June and will again 🤘🏽😁
Planet Hell would be good song to react from all three singers 👍
That other singer who came to rescue Nightwish that Night is Elize Ryd.
There are compilations of all 3. One of Ghost Love Score. The problem is finding one all 3 did well - Tarja and Floor, yes……
floor is 1 oktober 10 years in the band
Congrats!!!
Yea I love Jukka a lot for his groove
Your reference to the note or letter is likely about the singer before Annette (singer 2), when they sent an open letter to fire Tarja (singer 1).

Your very welcome Rick!!
Thank you!

As to react to the same song with all 3 singers you can do Nemo.
And no comparison of who is better - all members that are or were in NW have contriputed something essential at the time.

another nice reaction think poet and pendulum must be the next or hows the heart acoustic version from planet rock

@@ValtteL yes, you can understand it differently if you speak Finnish 👍
