As an concept artist who is trying to figure out how to make the characters carry and use a bow conveniently without "just looking cool", this is really helpful, thank you! :D
I use a shorter recurve bow, and I'm really liking that quiver-carry. I always try to prepare to have my weapon in my hand and ready as quickly as possible, and that's pretty darned quick.
I made a leather sling for my longbow. It's one continuous 1/4 inch wide strap that attaches to the top horn with a little sheath/cover to protect the tip, and then loops around behind the small of my back and over to the front of my chest and pins onto itself. I added a piece of leather cord that goes from the top end behind my neck and down to the hip to keep it from sliding off the shoulder while running though. Super hard to explain but it's an extremely simple project, it's just one long strap with a tip protector, a little belt keeper with a snap, and an attached piece of cord on the top half.
That was a pretty cool video and very informative. I was going to suggest you hit Shad up and show him this video because he seems to have trouble carrying a bow. The quiver method that you use keeps the bow away from the sword as well. I think if I ever start carrying a bow, I'd use your quiver wrap around method. That seems to be most effective. Thanks for the tips.
excellent that you have quiver on back, when i did viking reenactment my arrows were 24", much shorter than otehr peopels arrows as i had a short bow, i found drawing from nack quiver easy, and i could run no problem at all, and my shooting rate was much higher than the longbows, especially people that had large cylinger belt quivers...they were bulky and you couldnt run with those....excellent video
Good review. Years ago, I had a bow like your orange one. Good bow. I carry my quiver Plains Indian style, with the quiver on front and arrows (fletching end) pointed to the right. There are plenty of ways to hang the bow from it. I use an asiatic style "horse" bow. I have yet to engage in a sword fight carrying a quiver on the front so that may be a problem.
Now if only we had more young people like you with that kinda passion for this most magnificent obsession we call Archery, well I’m pretty sure In saying that you all ready no that the world would be better place’ just came across your video here for the 1st time’ you doing a good job by showing how much fun and excitement that a sting and a string can bring to one’s life’ im still trying ta figure out if the Bow saved my life’ or made my Life, lol’ probably uh little of both, well it is my Religion after all , what ever the hell that mite mean in this day and age’ keep the videos coming, and shooting 🏹
My personal favorite is a variation of the nail catch, by using it on the back quiver itself at the top, instead of on a second separate strap/ belt. My quiver has a notch in the pvc so the bow is always at the same place, and doesn't twist around to mess with the fletching of my arrows. A hanging loop would also work for a place to hang the nail from. On with the rest of the video!
@@AnachronisticArmory569 for small people like you (or something I find interesting, also like your videos) I do like stoking the algorithm... so: FOR THE ALGORITHM!!!
Can't you combine the string/sling carries (both ways that you showed) with a back quiver if you use a longer string, so that it can go over the back quiver? Or does it still hinder you then?
That's what all bows are, a form of slingshot..... Henceforth slinging arrows..... I watched your shooting style, at release you sling your bow forward........ No difference........
@@Lordinvdious I can see that. But the compound doesn't flex when pulled. And you don't often unstring a compound often. I can see the pros. But in my line of expertise, I just have too many cons
Ehhhh, yes it does. I have been shooting sense I was 15. I'm now in my 50's. I have shot everything from Darton to Mathews, and I can tell you those bows do have a flex and they aren't as static as you think. I don't disparage traditional bows or those who shot them. I love archery all around it doesn't matter if it is vertical or horizontal....... We need to support each other......
@@Lordinvdiousthat's a hinge retard. have you ever unstrung it in all those years? are you retarded? are you special needs? these are real questions. i hope you have the common sense to understand no part of your bow is flexing to contribute to thrust. i am seriously concerned for your retarded ass functioning as a human being in society.
Wow. Consistently slower than Shad despite his minor fumbles and only drawing your bow halfway. Still, it is a functional carry method that doesn't require modifying your bow and let's be honest, if being a second slower on the draw would get you killed, your bow is not the first weapon you'd be reaching for. To be honest, the thing I like better about your method is neither the speed nor the lack of alterations, but rather the lateral stability. Shad's nail holder system can leave the blow flapping around; sure it won't fall off easily, but there's a lot of movement. Wrapped around the quiver like that, I can only imagine your bow moves more or less the same as the quiver, which should make it much easier to run, climb, and anything else you'd want to do on an adventure.
That's very true. Though the nail catch is faster (plus at the time he had had a bit more practice than I had had at the time), I did not like the feeling, though it is my one personal preference, of it swinging about alot
Very good video and very informative. Thanks
Your welcome!
I do the quiver carry myself. It quick, secure and does not need extra stuff attached to the bow.
Nice to see someone else do it

That's what I'm saying!!! Now it really depends on the dimensions of both bow and quiver. BUT when done correctly, I think it works great!!!
your way is elegant and effective. one slight drawback is it stops working once you have run out of arrows.
Good Point!
ALL projectile weapons will exhaust it's ammo supply.

do you have a set ancher point where you draw too? and do you get to full draw or what is your draw length?
I do get to full draw! Not as often now cause I am working on speed shooting. But my full draw is 29-30 inches.
@@AnachronisticArmory569 fair enough, was that thumb draw or Slavic? And good for you speed shooting is good fun
