In my opinion Patty is the icing on the cake for this song. Her harmonies are haunting. I've always loved this song. After my wife passed its a harsh reality I face every day
Years ago saw Vince in a small venue in Vegas. He did his normal 90 minutes then proceeded to play for another 2. 5 hours because he was having fun. Amazing
The awesome Vince Gill!! The sweetest tenor in country music. He's a hell of a musician as well. Patty Loveless singing backup only makes it sweeter. Great reaction!!❤❤❤
Patti Loveless is on this track with Vince. This was Vince’s first single from his debut album, and Patti was an unknown at the time. Now, Both Legends! Highly Recommend: Patti Loveless - Never Leave Harlan Alive
I would say Patty was known by then. She had hits in the late 1980s. I first heard her song Don’t Toss Us Away around 1988 or 89. It was getting lots of radio play in Houston. I was so drawn to her voice and her more traditional country style which I liked. Since then bought about 6 of her CD.
He’s a legendary artist and can shred a guitar. 😊”Whenever You Come Around”, “What the Cowgirls Do”, “When Love Finds You”, “Don’t Let Our Love Start Slipping Away” 😊❤
One of my favorites by Vince but then again, I love all his songs. Patty Loveless is amazing in her own right. She has a lot of hits as well. If you want to check her out, start with "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive".
Love Vince Gill and this was a perfect introductory song. Great pick and great reaction. Vince Gill is great solo and Patty Loveless is great solo...but when they harmonize together it is magic. Their two voices together is one of the best sounds ever. If you want more Vince Gill harmonizing with Patty Loveless, and throw in Ricky Skaggs, you must react to "Go Rest High On That Mountain" official video. Very powerful song written by Gill.
Vince got his start in a 70's folk/rock band called "Pure Prarie League". One of their biggest songs was "Amie". Vince later left the band, and went on to become one of the best selling country artists of all time. Hitting the peak of his career in the 80's and 90's. With such songs as "Pocket full of gold", "One more last chance", "I still believe in you" and "Go rest high, on that mountain".
Vince was in Pure Prairie League from 1978-1982 he left to go into country full time and the rest is history. Amie was a big hit for PPL but in 1973 long before VG was in the band. The writer and singer of "Amie" was Craig Fuller who left that band after two albums. He was in and out of music for a number of years including joining Little Feat because his voice was so much like Llowel George.
Vince was the singer for Let Me Love You Tonight with PPL. I was dumbfounded when I discovered that he was in that group. I had no idea that was him. Love Vince Gill.
I believe the female background is the great Patti Loveless. She is so amazing too. Please react to her song You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive. She is amazing. Love Vince on this song. He has a great catalog of music.
I have never listened to this song without it giving me chills guys and for more from his hit filled catalog "Pocket Full Of Gold" "Go Rest High On That Mountain" "Look At Us" and "I Still Believe In You" are an absolute must listen!
Vince Gill's voice is like butter. It's so smooth and clear. Love his voice. Try some other songs like Go High On That Mountain, that he wrote after his brother passed away. Another good one is a duet with Reba McEntire called The heart Don't Lie. Vince Gill used to be in the band the Pure Prairie League.
Vince and Patti performed “Go Rest High On that Mountain” at George Jones funeral, Vince does a wonderful guitar solo in this performance, This song is one of Vince’s biggest hits, it is a beautiful song. Patti Loveless song to listen too is “Someday I Will Lead the Parade”, she is phenomenal in her own right. Great reaction
My favorite songs from the incomparable Vince Gill are I Still Believe In You, Tryin’ To Get Over You, Whenever You Come Around, Say Hello, Look At Us, Don’t Let Our Love Start Slipping Away, One More Last Chance, and The Heart Won’t Lie (duet with Reba McEntire).
Vince has alot of grate songs, his most popular is probably Go Rest high on that mountain which was written for his brother that commited suicide. But he also has good comedic songs. His father gave him an idea which he put off writing for years until after his father passed called Its hard to kiss the lips that chew your ass out all day long.
Vince is one of the greatest guitarists of our generation. Even Eric Clapton has admitted so. Vince has a lot of great music. He is married to Amy Grant, the christian singer. I got to meet Vince once after a concert. He is a true and genuinely nice person.
What a great place to start with Vince Gill. He's one of the greatest of all time. This leads you to the fabulous Patty Loveless, singing that amazing harmony. You should definitely check her out.
Vince and Patty teamed up again to sing "Go Rest High On That Mountain" at a service for George Jones's Funeral. Vince wrote this song for his brother after his passing. If not for Patty, Vince would have never made it through George's service. Give it a listen.
This was Vince Gill's first big hit.....after many years trying to break through on the country music charts. Mark Knopfler, of Dire Straits, invited Vince to join his group. Vince declined, saying he wanted to give his try at a solo career some more time and 'When I Call Your Name' proved he made the right decision. Also, Patty Loveless sang on his first big hit and he sang on her first big hit, 'Timber, I'm Falling in Love'. They also sound great together on 'Pocket Full of Gold". The live versions especially! He also did a couple of duets with Reba McEntire. 'Oklahoma Swing' and 'The Heart Won't Lie'. My favorite songs of his are 'I Still Believe in You' and a much lesser known song 'Colder Than Winter'. Check out his uptempo songs that show off his talent on guitar. He can really play and has an amazing collection. Got to see him a couple times in concert and he has a knack for storytelling too. Most of them have to do with people he has worked with or met and are very funny.
If you want to see Vince Gill's guitar work, check out his song "Oklahoma Borderline". It would probably be preferred to see a live performance of it so you can see him go to work.
The angelic voice of one Vince Gill. Such an iconic sound. Great musician and song writer. Check out the song "Go Rest High On That Mountain". He wrote it for his brother who passed from his demons but it's a beautifully touching song, a must listen!
Ive seen several of your reactions. Now subscribed. Heading to your catalog to see what other Vince Gill is there as well. His voice and range- his heart into his music and a few fun ones too. If you haven’t already, maybe see his duet with Reba mcIntyre ‘the heart won’t lie’ and his original video of Go Rest High and tge the George Jones funeral where he and Patty loveless sang it there. I enjoy your channel. Thank you for your open opinions snd honest reactions.
Vince goes straight to the heart every time with his inspired songwriting, and then the pure beauty of his sound alone is enough to move one to tears . His accomplishments in many genres make him a giant in the field of contemporary popular music; moreover, I cannot think of a figure more beloved in the industry. If you want to further explore the sad song facet of his talent, may I suggest "This Is How Lonely Looks", a studio recording with no video but you won't care when you hear it. Wait for his heart-rending guitar solo at the end; you will not forget it.
I wouldn't say Vince is well known from a guitar aspect. He's actually under-appreciated as a guitarist. Most people only know him from his great singing.
Man this was a monster hit for Vince, really broke through into the big time Patty loveless, did a great job on back up vocals, I would like to request a song by Vince Gill, called "KINDLY KEEP IT COUNTRY" a great country song. Thanks
Patti Loveless singing harmony here is someone you really should check out. Listen to her live version of Never Leave Harlan Alive. It'll knock your socks off. You two are terrific. Keep the country reviews coming, please.
As everyone has commented on, you can't go wrong with Vince Gill and Patty Loveless harmonizing together. I think you would enjoy "Go Rest High On That Mountain". A song Vince wrote after both his good friend, country artist, Keith Whitley (you should also check out) and his brother passed away. I prefer the 'official' video that features both Patty and Ricky Skaggs singing harmony. But if you want more emotional, then it would have to be the video of Vince and Patty performing this song at country music legend George Jones' funeral.
Vince is the most amazing storyteller in all of music. He is so funny he could be a stand up comic if he wasn't a singer. I highly recommend you listen to his song "It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night that Chewed Your Ass out all day Long"
Oh yeah baby! As a fellow Okie who saw Vince before he was a monster artist! If you love Vince you have to check out Go Rest High On That Mountain. It was a song he wrote for his brother after he passed. You need to listen to the version that he sang at The Grand Ole Opry with Ricky Skaggs and Patti Loveless. His catalog is MASSIVE! Vince is doing some of Glenn Frey’s vocals live with the Eagles as well as Glenn’s son Deacon Frey. So so proud of my fellow Okie!
I think that Vince has such a beautiful smooth voice!❤ I would definitely consider him a crossover artist, I don’t think he sounds purely country. I actually didn’t realize that he ended up singing with the Eagles!😲 Thank you for this reaction! 👍
My favorite song of his (although, it really is hard to pick just one), is One More Last Chance. George Jones has a cameo in the video of it. They call each other by their nicknames. George was known as The Possum, and George's nickname for Vince was Sweet Pea.
This is my favorite Vince Gill song (with a lot of others that are great) Patty Loveless singing the octave above with perfectly matched pitch takes the song from great to fantastic.
Vince is definitely a rabbit hole you should venture into, a great singer songwriter and musician and another Country legend Ms. Patty Loveless on background vocals
One of the best examples of the way instruments can change the song comes in Tanya Tucker's Blood Red and Goin' Down. It is important to note that at the time of recording Tanya was 14 years old.
I love this song! Those harmonies are so beautiful❤ You should also check out "Look At Us" a sweet love song and for a more funny one "It's Hard To Kiss The Lips At Night That Chewed Your A$$ All Day" 😂😂
To get a good feel of Vince's guitar chops, you should watch the video of Gregg Allman, Zac Brown and Vince performing "Midnight Rider". It's fire.🔥 I was introduced to Vince when he was a member of a group named The Pure Prarie League. The song was "Let Me Love You Tonight". Omg, he's so young in the video! Listen to this old hippie. I wouldn't steer you wrong.✌️❤️🙂
Thats Patty Loveless in backup. They are great friends. Check out Patty. Vince is one class guy in the industry. Seen him 3 times and always a great show.
Try doing Chris Stapleton “Tennessee whiskey” or Hank Williams Jr., Country Boys Can Survive”. Hank Jr’s song is so true about survival if something should seriously happen with the financial or government
Phil and Sam, y’all need to discover the Country artist that brought the Eagles back together. Travis Tritt! A mixture of country, blues, soul. Amazing live performer and hit maker. Travis Tritt - Where Corn Don’t Grow (from Live and Kickin)
The singer backing Vince up in the song is Patty Loveless. Both Vince and Patty are members of the Country Music Association Hall of Fame.
Vince has one of the purest, most beautiful tenor voices of all time.
Country music at it's finest!
Vince and Patty Loveless voices together and the sound of that steel guitar. This song is something special.
Been there. Done that. The pain never goes away.
Amazing
Vince and Patty nail that "high, lonesome, sound."
The awesome Vince Gill!! The sweetest tenor in country music. He's a hell of a musician as well. Patty Loveless singing backup only makes it sweeter. Great reaction!!❤❤❤
You need to do "Go Rest High On That Mountain" ...........and bring the tissues
oh yes- 100% this one is a must please
Patti Loveless is on this track with Vince. This was Vince’s first single from his debut album, and Patti was an unknown at the time. Now, Both Legends!
Highly Recommend: Patti Loveless - Never Leave Harlan Alive
I agree. The live version of Never Leave Harlan Alive is powerfull.
Patty was NOT an unknown. She was the Big Star at the time. I saw her open for Vince later on in their great careers.
He’s a legendary artist and can shred a guitar. 😊”Whenever You Come Around”, “What the Cowgirls Do”, “When Love Finds You”, “Don’t Let Our Love Start Slipping Away” 😊❤
Oklahoma Borderline has a ripping guitar by Vince.
One of my favorites by Vince but then again, I love all his songs. Patty Loveless is amazing in her own right. She has a lot of hits as well. If you want to check her out, start with "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive".
One of my favorites by Vince with Patty. Great singer songwriter musician
Vince and Patty, perfection.
He sings background vocals on her song “Timber I’m Falling in Love”. It’s tremendous.
Phil, I can see in your face how you felt these lyrics!
Love Vince Gill and this was a perfect introductory song. Great pick and great reaction.
Vince Gill is great solo and Patty Loveless is great solo...but when they harmonize together it is magic. Their two voices together is one of the best sounds ever. You took the words right out of my mouth.

He's known for being a great guitar player. But, he's also know for his great voice. He won numerous "Vocalist of the Year" awards.
One of my favorite country singers. Suggest Rest High on that Mountain. Wrote it for his brother that passed away. ❤💯
Actually it started out for Keith Whitley in first verse and he finished the song in honor of his brother. So it was wrote for both of them.
Vince's delivery always reminds me of Gospel music. Glad ya'll did this.
Vince Gill has one of the most angelic voices that I’ve heard
Vince Gill is a guitar virtuoso. You should try Oklahoma Borderline. A&E live version.
I would second this suggestion. Oklahoma Borderline is more up tempo and shows off his guitar skills.
I believe the female background is the great Patti Loveless. She is so amazing too. Please react to her song You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive. She is amazing. Love Vince on this song. He has a great catalog of music.

‘I Still Believe In You’ is a fantastic song, one of my favorites.
Back when country songs actually had meaning.
Vince Gill has an incredible voice! He sings so high, and so easily.tyvm. ❤❤❤❤
Harmony supplied by his good friend Patty Loveless, recently inducted into the the Country Music Hall of Fame by none other than Vince himself
My favorite of Vince's is Whenever You Come Around! ❤
The harmonies between Vince and Patty are just Glorious! ❤❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏👏
I have Vince Gill song lyrics tattooed on my back. His song. I still believe in you was dedicated to me by my daddy. RIP Daddy
Patty and Vince... God they're great together. Patty is amazing on those brilliant harmonies.
Always drove me crazy that Patty Loveless was never mentioned as a feature in these videos. She’s always a favorite of mine.
The beautiful harmony is none other than Patty Loveless a superstar in her on right. No one else can harmonize with Vince Gill like she does…No one!
Love her.
One of the best voices in there business
I especially love their performance at George Jones funeral. She definitely was always a great duet partner for Vince. ❤
Vince and Patti performed “Go Rest High On that Mountain” at George Jones funeral, Vince does a wonderful guitar solo in this performance, This song is one of Vince’s biggest hits, it is a beautiful song. Patty and Vince are great friends and back up each other in a few songs, I've loved this song for decades, y'all reaction was priceless.
You need to check out Go Rest High on That Mountain !
Vince is one of the greatest guitarists of our generation. Even Eric Clapton has admitted so. Vince has a lot of great music. He is married to Amy Grant, the christian singer. I got to meet Vince once after a concert. He is a true and genuinely nice person.
Vince's sweet voice and perfect pitch captured my heart way back when "Amie" hit the airwaves.
What a great place to start with Vince Gill. He's one of the greatest of all time. This leads you to the fabulous Patty Loveless, singing that amazing harmony. You should definitely check her out.

Vince Gill ..... a true legend
He is just amazing, a voice like an angel..And one of the best guitarist ever.
Truth!!!

@Bars & Barbell- VInce GIll is one of the all time greats. Thanks for doing this great song of his. One of my favs from him.
Was my grandmothers favorite. Very unique voice.
Everybody I know Vince gill. Go rest high on the mountain Is a beautiful song. Please play that song.❤😊😊
Of course we have Patty Loveless and her beautiful voice❤❤
He is one of my favorite artists beautiful voice 😊
And this is why all the country artists wanted to sing duets with him, Allison Krauss, Reba, Dolly Parton, Amy Grant.
Vince Gill
I wouldn't say Vince is well known from a guitar aspect. He's actually under-appreciated as a guitarist.

Vince's guitar skills are so good that having that voice seems almost unfair. ; )
You're right. Patty Loveless compliments Vince's voice perfectly.
That's Patty Loveless singing also. The best female country singer ever, in my opinion.
I agree, best songstress since Patsy Cline.
Vince is the most amazing storyteller in all of music. He is so funny he could be a stand up comic if he wasn't a singer. I highly recommend you listen to his song "It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night that Chewed Your Ass out all day Long"

Thank you for this reaction! 👍
Gill can shred a Telecaster too. A GOAT on the guitar.
My favorite song of his (although, it really is hard to pick just one), is One More Last Chance. George Jones has a cameo in the video of it. They call each other by their nicknames. George was known as The Possum, and George's nickname for Vince was Sweet Pea.
Calling Vince Gill
Oh my! You all just struck GOLD!❤😂🎉
With a voice like that, and a fine monetary career, you don't have to be mega rich to become a legend in music.
wow vince gill. you're getting there you two, the high lonesome bluegrass mountain music old timey. congrats on the quick 100k wow.
A fun one of his is “One more Last Chance”
This is my favorite Vince Gill song (with a lot of others that are great) Patty Loveless singing the octave above with perfectly matched pitch takes the song from great to fantastic.
My fave top 3 is GO REST HIGH ON THAT MOUNTAIN. And CINDERELLA. and POCKETS FULL OF GOLD. Great singer song writer
Thanks for a reaction to this talented musician.
Vince is a kick ass guitarist as well. For some upbeat songs try, "Liza Jane" or "One More Last Chance."
Vince is definitely a rabbit hole you should venture into, a great singer songwriter and musician and another Country legend Ms. Patty Loveless on background vocals
This was on his 3rd album in 1989. The beautiful voice accompanying Vince is Patty Loveless.
One of the best examples of the way instruments can change the song comes in Tanya Tucker's Blood Red and Goin' Down. It is important to note that at the time of recording Tanya was 14 years old.
Nice mullet Vince! That is exactly why nobody answers when "you" call their name. Kidding, love everything about Vince Gill!
I love this song! Those harmonies are so beautiful❤ You should also check out "Look At Us" a sweet love song and for a more funny one "It's Hard To Kiss The Lips At Night That Chewed Your A$$ All Day" 😂😂
He also showed his sense of humor - or maybe irony - in his last top 20 Country Hit from 2003 - "Next Big Thing"
Vince has one of the smoothest voices ever, like velvet. perhaps the only one comparable is Chris Isaac ("Wicked Games "or "Two Hearts")
Whenever you come around by Vince, a classic
This dude talks like everyones boss in a Teams meeting 😂😂😂
To get a good feel of Vince's guitar chops, you should watch the video of Gregg Allman, Zac Brown and Vince performing "Midnight Rider". It's fire.🔥
I was introduced to Vince when he was a member of a group named The Pure Prarie League. The song was "Let Me Love You Tonight". Omg, he's so young in the video! Listen to this old hippie. I wouldn't steer you wrong.✌️❤️🙂
Thanks for the great reaction, now I'm going to hit repeat 10 times best vocals ever !😊❤
🙌
Pure Prairie League Amiee. Early, early Vince.
The songbird!
The one. The only. Vince Gill.
Phil and Sam, y’all need to discover the Country artist that brought the Eagles back together.
Travis Tritt! A mixture of country, blues, soul. Amazing live performer and hit maker.
Travis Tritt - Where Corn Don’t Grow (from Live and Kickin)

Morissette’s Ang Huling El Bimbo. It’s phenomenal!!
Try "Go Rest High on that Mountain" then "Oklahoma Borderline". Imagine the genius inbetween...
