As someone with hundreds of hours into the game, you need to hold down the pitch button. It's the same type of setup that The Show used as the default for years. You've just been throwing low effort meatballs lol.
I forget which button it was, but if you press a button on the replay of a close play, you can get the manager to come out and argue with the umpire. It even has a little mini game to determine how angry the manager gets. Also, in the main menu, you should try the batting mini game. It’s basically a batting game on an obstacle course which is so much fun. Seriously this was one of the best sports games ever.
For Xbox it’s Y, and you keep tapping it to make the aggression meter go up. So I’d imagine PS2 it’d be triangle. But you can do it for any play, not just replays. Even ones where the dude is clearly out 😂
The funny thing: I 💭 thought that would be obvious, but now thinking of it, he probably bought the game at a pawn shop or GameStop so, it probably doesn't have a manual... Great tip...😅😊
i thought the whole point was to press in the green spot, do you actually hold at the beginning of the windup and then release the button in that green section? I've tried emulating this game and pretty much had the same experience as Drew here lol
@@dropthatshi yeah you hold it until it hits the bottom then let go, then hit it again when it hits the green. Holding it gives more power, the green part is for accuracy. So he was throwing accurate pitches but they were 88mph meatballs to MLB players so they were crushing him lol
@@redskinsDC2594 I forget about the controller button function screen, that actually explains in fine detail every button that one will ever use. Not only that but I'm sure there is a tutorial somewhere in there... Lol. Maybe he thought 💭 he would be cracking the bats off with yard bombs, but eh, he probably gave up on this game already
Not even close. Games today look much better and more fun fielding, pitching, and batting. This game is more fun if you care about setting ticket prices and stuff, but other than that it's not more fun playing it.
Legit the best baseball game ever made. My friend and I still play it every time we hangout to this day and we got it the year it came out. We're both 30 and we still call each other about our MVP Baseball saves.
I basically retired from gaming after the PS3 generation (as a disabled guy, the increased detail with controllers was a real turnoff, plus I'm the epitome of Casual Gamer) and this is one of the games I frequently come back to.
THIS WAS MY FAVORITE GAME GROWING UP! Also...if you hold down the pitch button and fill up the arch, your pitch will move more. You can also get your manager up into blue's face by holding 'B' after a play - Something else, it has a banging playlist - still listen to a bunch of these songs to this day because of the is game
I've got a hitting trick for you, the ball will flash different colors to indicate which pitch (breaking-ball is red, change-ups green, sinkers/splitters purple, fastball/cutter no color) and sometimes you can see the color of the pitch in the pitcher's motion before they release, like they're tipping their pitches.
Hey Drew I’m a dev for a mod of MVP 07 NCAA Baseball that’s in full HD with roster updates new bats and more you should check it out and bring back the cluckers!
ngl when im bored i still listen to mlb 05 playlist sound track - and im still shocked there is no bad songs like nhl or other games where they would put 1 good songs and thats all
Back in 2015 me and two other buddies played this game every day for almost the whole entire year. It's crazy how much the three of us needed to grind to unlock all the stadium features in Owner Mode but it was so worth it
"I'm not throwing them gifts or anything" - 8:38 Drewski, brother, idk how to tell you this, but you kinda are. You see that meter that shows up when you start pitching? Typically you'd figure out that it needs to fill up first. iirc, the cpu hits more when you don't. (Edit: I'm surprised you got as many strikeouts as you did, but you did have some solid placement. Also Rookie AI) Even if it's fun to figure things out naturally (i know, I usually do that too), it may be worth investing in looking at controls and searching for the in-game tutorials and practice a little if you're getting cooked on the easiest difficulty. Watching this is what I imagine my dad would be like trying to play this first time (he didn't really like video games much, and never tried. He still struggles with the Smart TV sometimes, so understandable i guess) 😂
Crazy you ended up with Jeriome Robertson. I ended up with one of his game used jerseys in a memorbilia lot. Found out he died in a motorcycle accident and he left behind 2 sons. Found their high school coach and got the jersey to them. Get him a ring!
Joystick affects the direction of the hits. Up and more chance of dingers left and right to go with inside/outside pitches and down for grounders... One of my favorite games of all time and the soundtrack is awesome, olevery time the title screen comes on, goosebumps
dude, my best advice is to, master the pitching, there is no better feeling than pitching a no hitter against a team of Legends. it's all timing, holding the left thumb stick location indicator in the batter's cold zone, while holding the pitch button until the effectiveness zone is reached, then releasing at the same time. Mastering this technique will lead to many hours of enjoyment and the only hits you give up will be from big timing mistakes. The abilities of the pitchers also have a big effect on this, pitchers with low control numbers will make the meter run faster, making it more difficult to throw effective pitches resulting in more balls or meatballs which usually end up in the seats.
Go check out MVP 2003, the first game in the franchise. It's the last game that has Barry Bonds as a playable character out of the box. The later games featured his attributes, but the developers changed his name.
I believe it was due to Bonds not being part of the player's union licensing agreement at the time. Kevin Millar was not in the MBLPA, so he got the same treatment in game
Bruh playing a dynasty with those Red Sox - Johnny Damon, Edgar Renteria, Manny then BIG PAPI this game is undefeated, plus the legends and heroes teams this is one of my favorite games of all time I was 6 in 2005 and still grab the GameCube to play it every once in a while
THREE YEARS ALMOST TO THE DAY I asked you at Skybar to put this game on the channel and you said you couldn't get the stream to work, but you wanted to make it happen. I've waited three years for this day
Dude had a shot at Jake Peavy and Johan Santana and passed on them both. Those were the two best players to build your team around in MVP baseball 2005. I know he was young and not familiar with the game/players. But it hurt to see as someone who played that game to death. Both guys turn into 99s for a decade of domination haha
This game used to be pretty unfair. Unless you had a stacked team with everyone super happy you could only lose, no matter the difficulty. Please keep playing this game! lol
One of the best Baseball games ever created. There are also quite a few real players in the minors with fake names like Joey Votto, Prince Fielder, Justin Verlander, etc.
I remember playing this game with my modded xbox. I was able to import high res assets give stadiums a more realistic look. Also, there was a bug where lefties didn't hit as many home runs because the ball had more top spin or something weird... God I'm such a nerd.
While batting, hold down the left stick in different directions to influence the way you hit the ball. If you press up you can get a fly ball. Down for ground balls. Left right to pull push
As a Day 1 Nationals fan, MVP '05 will always hold a special place in my heart as the first game to allow me to play as my hometown team...as an overall baseball fan, I love MVP '05 for its accurate throwbacks (no numbers before 1930 - including late '20s Braves unis with Injun back, late '20s Detroit unis with a tiger on the back...no batting helmets before 1955...throwbacks being an option for the franchise rather than the city).
I've spent a TON of time in this game. I always created players and added some to my team and let the CPU pick up others (I'd create myself, my brother, cousins, people I knew). Playing the mini games will help immensely. The distance thing you were looking at with Papi and Pujols was in the home run derby. That was the total HR distance needed to win. Give it another shot and you'll get the hang of it. Also, shout out to NCAA MVP06 Baseball. Another fun and fantastic game!
At 8:59, Jeter made the right play. There was zero chance of getting the baserunner at first, and the play at second was actually close. Plus the runner going into second was the lead runner, so it's a bigger priority to get that guy out.

There was a baseball game called MLB Heat i think. There was a feature where you cam lock on where the pitch woukd be and hit a home run easy. I used to crush homers with Big Mo when he was on the Angels 😂
